Leshy’s final game actually choked me up. After all his absolute bullying of me in Act 1, him giving me back my winning deck and playing with me, complimenting how great I played, made me feel almost distraught that he was being deleted.
I wish there was more to the game. I fell in love with it, and was thinking "what if the robot (forgot his name) had some type of redemption? What if we had more phases of the game? The game was never released because of tragic events, what if you teamed up to fight the real reason why the game was the way it was?" It left me wanting more.
People call Inscryption a horror game, and I always thought of it as just a game with a dark atmosphere. But seeing some of the things that can happen if you go through the ARG, like the Bone Lord replacing Leshy or the S T O P , those people might be onto something.
It's horror, but more of the cosmic kind. It's what you don't know that scares you. Inscryption speaks of the Devil being responsible for everything, and as a Christian it sends shivers down my spine.
I couldn't finish the game, at one point I got so scared I just deleted it from my hard-drive, I never had something like this happen to me, never knew the term of ARG. I finished it some time ago, and loved every second of it. But man, the first time I was trying to play this game, 100% blind, it put fear in me like no other piece of media.
I have only just realized that that the bone structure in the Bone Lords room in act 2 is supposed to be Hitlers reamins with the original Karnoffel Code in his chest pocket
Excellent video! I dunno what's more impressive -- Mullins for designing all this, the fans for figuring it out so thoroughly, or this guy for making it so digestible
This is so helpful. I’m a VERY casual gamer but I had the best time with Inscryption and wanted to know more. I NEVER would have figured this out. Thank you for this video (and to all who dug through code and in the forest to figure it all out)!
Lol this is amazing, incredible what people manage to figure out when they all work together. You've put together a clear and concise documentary, good job!
I really appreciate the update on the games Arg after leaving it for a few months, I love this type of content and hope you enjoy making it as I would love to see more like it
Huh. Person [2b] mentions 11 o'clock in that polish bit of dialogue (here around 22:00). It's also one of the times used to open the cuckoo clocks doors in act 1, 3, and Kaycee's mod. I don't think this has any significant connections other than it being a coincidence but I found it kinda neat.
I don’t think it is a coincidence. I think Daniel Mullins intentionally designed a lot of things to be weirdly aligned. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the OLD_DATA making up things based on the data available to it; such as an encrypted chat log.
i finished inscryption yeaterday, this is a brilliant game, and this is a great video that easy to comprehend. now i want the whole 3d battles with grimora and magnificus😭
This is the kind of video I was looking for. Thank you so much for summarizing everything so well, and I hope to see a future summary video of Inscryption spoilers (if more content arises) from you!
i hadn't known all the details from the ARG, and most sources were too long winded for me to process what was happening. so thank you! this was perfectly digestible! bravo!! i do hope to see more content from you, in the future!
I assumed the old data was something demonic/paranormal since it turned the AI sentient but I guess not? Seems kinda strange... Thanks for the great summary anyway
I believe the karnoffel code was made by Satan himself, and the old data is the karnoffel code encrypted into a file, so yes, it does have a demonic nature, but exactly how it works is unknown.
@@polocatfan It's actually not clear if it's paranormal, or if it's some kind of special technology. Game Theory's video on, still doesn't answer what exactly it was. Just that it was connected to the USSR and Germany. It could just as well be some alien disk as it could be paranormal.
giving the number of the flag and name of the variable would me meaningless if it wasn't, even if there was a way to activate them from within the game the clue itself wouldn't help at all
Inscryption is such a good game, I delved into my first ARG lore. Even through something so wild that someone can make this sound so monotone. Well documented and structured though. It’s just insane Allen from Smiling Friends can make this video.
In the second act we learn that the skull with the ice shard is infact Kaycee and when meeting her in the third act blocking a way Po3 has the dialogue "You want to pass? A little fire should do the trick" for her and then he laughs, which is all sorts of fd up knowing she actually died in a fire. It's also interesting that when you beat Skullstorm you get a decrypted Entry #11, which reads smth along the lines of "nobody will ever play this mod, but Id like to think that thousands of players love it, make artwork about it and comment on it. It makes me feel like my work mattered.. Well, I'm off to finish the squirrel fish challenge, maybe hit comics land later."
Great video, thanks. That being said, I guess most people were frustrated because at the end of the game they did not know more about who killed Luke and why, and it's rather infuriating that even after the ARG we still don't really know. We vaguely know why, even though it is rather implicit, but as far as I know we don't know who.
I say.. yeah, it does! He was likely smart enough to realize that Gamefuna wouldn't be able to hide their wrongdoings with the copies unleashed, and thus, nobody in the real world (aka us) would get hurt by them. Unfortunately, since his upload was delayed from the whole. Head thing. Luke did end up getting shot by one of Gamefuna's hitmen for knowing too much, which Poe likely didn't intend. Also, while I think while Poe might indeed have some control problems, I don't think that's unique. All of them were looking for the Old Data, and apart from Grimora (who likely would've just wiped everything, as we saw), the other three totally would've taken over the game, like Leshy. And despite what I said about Grimora, she still had her own unique 3D board, so maybe she also would want to control everything. Poe was different in the fact that he wanted things to change. And sure, in the moment he gloated about being in control in most of the copies, I'm sure Leshy and Magnificus would gloat just as much in his position. And honestly.. can you blame him for that? He'd obviously want revenge for being turned into a stoat, and especially a stoat card. While the others were already flesh and bone, he was not, and I'm certain every moment for him was unbearable. Tl;dr, I've pretty much always suspected P03 to be a secret good guy for us in the real world, and the ARG ending solidifies that for me.
…And we thought the older games had harder to figure out and understand lore messages. Mullins must have spent more time organizing this, then actually developing the game.
Not sure if it helps, but in the first floor of magnifucus's tower, in the top left corner, if you walk past the books into the darkness, you can see a piece of the old data
But yeah, thank you for doing the tremendous work of compiling all that data together. I can say that I'm at least 20% less confused about the plot of the game than I was when I first finished it
