- Scott Laughton’s leadership and other intangibles are the main reason he’s been on the Flyers roster, full time, for the last 7 years. But for how much longer can the 30-year-old former first round pick’s presence be justified? Charlie & Bill debate just how irreplaceable is the assistant captain?

a few teams might use Laughton such as Carolina, Winnipeg, Seattle, Washington?
Culture over talent.
The Flyers way.
I think people look at things in a narrow view.
Most teams are hesitant to trade firsts a head of time, so if the Flyers really covet the 2025 draft, the best time could be this TDL. Teams at that point at least have more clarity of where they might end up standing wise for the pick. If the team is making big moves this year, it happens at this TDL or draft.
Ya'll are trying to eliminate any 'hard' players. But I think you will be disappointed all season when the Flyers get pushed around and beat on and trashed and injured. We've seen those years before.......they didn't end well
2nd youngest projected opening night roster in the NHL, but ppl complaining we didn’t trade a lifetime Flyer for a draft pick that has no guarantee to succeed.
Armchair GM’s all over the place man… I’m thankful Laughts is here. Every rebuilding roster has a handful of vets.
It's like these guys have no clue what's going on around the NHL. There have only been 9 trades across the entire NHL since July 1. NINE! And most of them involved low-level player swaps. Zero 1st round picks were involved in those 9 trades, and only one 2nd got moved. If Briere traded Laughton for a nobody or a 3rd round pick, these same people would crush him for not getting more.
@@bandelay2134 Keep cookin’!! 💯
Heres the issue. Can we all agree Laughton is a 4th line Center? If so he needs to be the 4th line center and not played on the 1st/2nd line unless its absolutely necessary. Statistically speaking Laughton was atrocious last year. So if the value lies in the locker room presence, and Charlie made this point well, what do you do when he is gone? He is 30 years old so he will be gone in the not too distant future, at which point does the culture crumble?
At this point we need Laughton because he is a center. If there is a center on the Phantoms that is possibly ready then they should get a good look at camp.
although they talk about giving young guys a chance....thats just talk.
I gotta be honest... I would much rather have Deslauriers than Hathaway.
