You picked the correct lángos. Most of the packed versions are just for tourists (kind of tourist traps). The authentic one is garlic water+sour cream+cheese. You can get a bit bigger for 900-1100HUF normally, but christmas market, BP center, touristy places, are always expensive. The rétes is 4-5x the normal price also, and you can eat it "cold" as in room temp, but better when warm, it's not very good cold.
Wow, thank you so much for the shoutout! ☺️ Really happy to see you had a good time on the Market in the city I live in and share videos about and nice to see that you took some of the advice 😊 regarding your question about Summer, while we do have AC in Europe, I would say late spring and Autumn are the best times to visit Hungary and the continent, especially if you enjoy hiking 😊 Summers are very hot and humid, but can still be enjoyed if you go to lakes or the seaside in other countries! 😊
Check out the Other Christmas Market, about 5 minutes from there. Look for Vörösmarty Square. Otherwise it's worth going in the evening, much more atmospheric. There is a light show on the Basilica at that time. Always, of all dishes, the basic/Hungarian version is worth tasting. you made the right choice with the Lángos and the kürtös kalács/chimney cake
I have been to Europe in both summer and winter. I like to go to places like Greece, turkey in summer. I think that places like Budapest, Serbia, Poland are best explored in winter.
As I am British, I love to experience the Hot weather instead of just rain!! I know that you have been to the UK, so can I suggest Copenhagen and just across the bridge is Malmo. Barcelona is also worth a visit.
If I could make a suggestion I really really loved Gdansk in Poland. It is just so beautiful and in my opinion it was pretty cheap! Honestly looks like a fairytale.
Looks great, I'd be visiting in the summer though! Next stop after Thailand...Sri Lanka, solely because of your videos, if you guys love it, so will I!
You can buy those ‘chimney’ cakes here in Sydney from a shop call Kurtosh and definitely cost more than what you would have paid in the market for the basic cinnamon one!
I think I’d prefer the cold if I was touring around Europe as I hate being hot and not being able to take off enough clothes lol. You can always keep adding layers in the cold. I’m so stoked for Vlogmas, I was really looking forward to it.
Air conditioning is not typical in Germany, but in warmer parts of Europe, like Hungary, it’s quite common. Here, it’s not about central air conditioning systems; instead, split units are the norm, typically installed in living rooms, although they are increasingly being added to bedrooms as well. Also, don’t miss the baths in Budapest-the warm water feels great in the cold! I recommend an evening bath at Rudas or a visit to the Széchenyi Thermal Bath.
If you are still around Budapest, come and visit the Pozsonyi street area, fairly nice.... if Iam free I can show you around...its a little bit off the beaten track, but is defintely worth the detour
Budapest is lovely, but seems like the prices have gone up since I was there. Have you been to northern Europe? Copenhagen is one of my favorites, but its really expensive up here in the northern part of Europe. Thanks for Vlogmas! Greetings from 🇫🇮🇫🇮
You can watch christmas themed cartoons projected on the Bazilika every evening at whole hours. I had a rum punch at the other christmas market at Vörösmarty tér yesterday, and it cost 3200 HUF. Ouch. Strudels: Apple strudel is mostly austrian thing, not so popular in Hungary. Most popular strudels in Hungary are cottage cheese (You tried it), poppy seed, sour cherry, poppy seed with sour cherry, cabbage, pumpkin. And in some eastern regions they eat plum strudel. Strudel costs roughly half price at the regular strudel shops compared to the christmas market, alcohol costs even less, so the market markup is +100-200%
All touristy places, events I feel are a rip off. But then I'm a canny Scot. 😅 Christmas markets are huge all over Europe and look much better at night. Bulgaria is worth a look, Montenegro looks stunning, planning to get there next year hopefully. Portugal on the list too.
Love ya vids guys! If you reckon those prices are bad try coming back to aus 😂. Strudels at a market are like 40-50$. Can't go to the pub for under 30$ a meal anymore!
Hy Josie! I'm living in Hungary. Unfortunately the prices in the market are 2-3x times more expensive than anywhere else. Its clearly for tourists (like Austrians) because still the avarage salary in Hungary is 6-700 eur, so u can imagine what Hungarians can buy there.. nothing :D If you want good kürtős kalács, usually near metro stations they're selling them for like 1000ft/2 pc. (at least here in 15. district we have cheap ones) The common traditional is the empty ones, the stuffed kürtős is not the original, also more for the tourists (and not that good) . If you are still here, you can check out the Városliget area, where you can able to skate as well, is really Christmas vibe. They have cute restaurants/lángos/food places with decorated Igloo outside which re heated. (name is Pavilon Kert)

Christmas market is for after dark when everyhing is beautifully lit and there is a light show on the Basilica.
That's exactly what I wanted to write :)
I'm loving vlogmas. Thank you
Langosh is very popular in Slovakia too. Very easy to make at home.

The markets may be expensive but they looked great and certainly created the Christmas atmosphere.

Great spot!!
I LOVED BUDAPEST!!! IT WAS GREAT! Don’t like the prices of Christmas markets and I’ve kind of committed to them now 😅😂
Budapest is beautiful, TYFS🙏♥️💫✨👼🏻✨💫♥️🙏
One of my FAVORITE places in Europe! I cannot believe I never thought of coming here before now. I am loving it!
Yay vlogmas day 2. This is awesome

The Hungarian name is kürtős kalács, hence the name of the shop in Sydney. Kürtő is the flue of the chimney, so chimney cake is a mistranslation.

i really liked portugal especially lisbon
Go to Croatia & Greece ..... very scenic
Bosnia Herzegovina is great if you enjoyed Albania, I think you will like it!
Go to the very beautiful New York Cafe Budapest for best hot chocolate drink which has marsh mellows in it ..... Yummylicious !!!
woooooo!!! Lets go!!!!
Did you do Prague?
Buy breakables, or anything for that matter, but just ship them home so you don't have to carry it with you.
I would recommend visiting Poland or Slovakia.
Tbilisi, I've never been there but it has a cool name and I heard it's not that expensive.
I would love to visit it as well but with the protests going on now may not be the best time.
@janena1976 I didn't know about the protest, I just saw it on the new just now, I thought it was a part of the EU.
❤
🤍🤍🤍
I recommend Norway
Vlogmas day 2 😊
What is the most bizarre thing you have seen at the markets so far?
Hy Josie!
