I'm by no means a professional - just a hobbyist - but I have both types as my projects are fairly varied from one day to the next.

4:15 IMO should the leather dots still cling to the leather after punching with a rotary punch, that is not a clean cut due to sharpness, alignment or quality of the tool. On my rotary punch I installed grip tape like the ones used for tennis rackets or baseball bats to keep my grip firmly planted on the tool. Hockey tape works well too but the edges of the tape tend to roll after time. Really enjoyed this video, it was one which I could really relate to. Thanks for sharing.

you can adjust the spring on the rotary punch so it sits better but the cheap ones do kinda suck😅🤷‍♀️

Great video Joe. I’ve got a question. When using the drive punch, what are you using under the leather on top of your work area? I’m sure I shouldn’t be using my marble slab. What are you using? It’s that white area on top of your work area. Thanks!

How do you sharpen your drive punches?

Get em all as long as it is quality. Start with a rotary, and then get drive punches as needed. Crap tools are the same as self-abuse.
