I faced the same issue. So. I went ahead and uploaded the current passport for rest of the documents (renunciation, naturalization, ...). It seems there is a bug in their website requiring all documents to be uploaded, even those which are not applicable to the application.
@@thiyagvit I was also facing the same problem. But then I found the option Re-print Submitted application in the Main Menu. I think it should be enough. We can generate the document from there. Also it's written that your application is already complete etc., once you login with that option. I am yet to submit the physical application, but going ahead with this.
For minor oci, under address proof they mentioned to notarize if applicant is staying with parents. This point is not mentioned in the video and I missed it. Will my child’s application get rejected? Please help

Should we send the Checklist also ? In the checklist it is mentioned below. "PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU PRINT THIS DOCUMENT, COMPLETE IT AND INCLUDE IT IN YOUR APPLICATION AS THE COVER PAGE."
wrong information on the page 3 of the sign.. it might give you trouble... it clearly said that declaration should be signed by the applicant which means thumb impression is required of the minor. in the 2nd part "Application for Minor Child" it starts with I am a parent/legal guardian of .... which means it has to be signed by either one of the parent or both and NOT by the minor thumb impression. and yes we need to Notarize this. Please correct this in the video

Kindly note that while uploading the documents on the OCI website, there is no need to self-attest the document; however, while mailing the documents, the applicant and both parents may self-attest or notarize the document as per the document checklist.

Hi Suja, The 'Current Passport' for the document upload needs 1)Minor's passport 2) Birth Certificate 3) Copies of Valid US Visas of both parents. My Visa validity is expired; and I have a few i-797 approval notices; same is the situation with my wife. The total number of pages is 10 and that makes the overall doc worth 1435 Kb. I selected the minimum DPI for scan (75 DPI). If I compress the document and further, it gets too blurred. What should I do? PS: This is not about 'Parental Authorization' document upload

1, Forum would ask if you 2 years old married and what is the profession..? 2, then if you notarized the parental authorize form which is same of renunciation and OCI, you need to circle one, it doesn't state to circle anything, there are no instructions. 3 For adults - ` 65 years old, they would ask what is your parents profession, even they were passed away 20 years ago..

Hello, On the OCI website for the photo reqs it says photo with white background not accepted -- "Photograph to be affixed on the application should be a square shape of size not less than 51*51mm (with 80% coverage of face). It should have plain light color background (not white) without the border with front view of person's head and shoulders showing the full face in middle of the photograph." On the VFS site it says " • The background should be a plain white background. " Please advice on what background to use for OCI application photo for minors ?

Our OCI application is processed only after 49 days by the Embassy. It was with the Embassy for 49 days in submitted status before it's processed. Hope this is helpful if anybody looking for real timeline.
HI Suja. For minors less than 5 years of age, I took thumb print and uploaded the digital image of the thumb print. When I printed the form, the thumb print came below the box under the digital photo. q1) Do we need to paste the physical photo on top of the digital photo on the form q2) Do minors less than 5 years need to thumb print again within the box under the photo (the digital thumb print already exists). OR do they just thumb print on the declaration page?

Kindly note that while uploading the documents on the OCI website, there is no need to self-attest the document; however, while mailing the documents, the applicant and both parents may self-attest or notarize the document as per the document checklist.

Hi Suja. Thanks for the detailed video. Just to summarize on the notarization for minors we need to notarize only the parental authorization form and application form right? Been seeing too many confused statements about it and wanted to double check on it. Your the best person to answer this so thought will ask you. Copy of parents Passports and copy of minor PP need to only be self attested?

Are they giving it till the child's 20th birthday or is it valid only till the passport expiry date? I read in an article that from this year they are changing the rule so that oci will expire on the child's 20th birthday. Can you please confirm?

No need to submit original passport, only current passport copy is enough..

I think their is a big for last couple of days this is happening.. some tried to upload documents in all the field and they got final submit button . But I would suggest wait for couple of days they might fix this

The 'Current Passport' for the document upload needs 1)Minor's passport 2) Birth Certificate 3)
Copies of Valid US Visas of both parents.
My Visa validity is expired; and I have a few i-797 approval notices; same is the situation with my wife. The total number of pages is 10 and that makes the overall doc worth 1435 Kb. I selected the minimum DPI for scan (75 DPI). If I compress the document and further, it gets too blurred.
What should I do?
PS: This is not about 'Parental Authorization' document upload
Another Question Suja :) - Do we need to self attest every document i.e Passport, Proof of address, Visa Docs etc.. or can be uploaded as-is?

Self attest only the physical documents, just a sign below the documents is enough
1, Forum would ask if you 2 years old married and what is the profession..?
2, then if you notarized the parental authorize form which is same of renunciation and OCI, you need to circle one, it doesn't state to circle anything, there are no instructions.
3 For adults - ` 65 years old, they would ask what is your parents profession, even they were passed away 20 years ago..

Hi Suja, Thank you for the information that you have compiled. I had one question about parent's name. Both the parents of the minors have their middle names list in the "given names" section of their passports. So, should we include the middle names or just stick to first-name last-name as you mentioned at 2:50s of the video?
If it’s in the passport, then provide it in the given name itself .. your names in the application should match with passport

Both can be signed by either of parents on behalf of minor

After uploading Parental Authorization a new Application form is generated with updated date,uploaded forms list. Do I need to renotarize the newly generated form? or can i use old notarized page along with newly created form?

On the OCI website for the photo reqs it says photo with white background not accepted -- "Photograph to be affixed on the application should be a square shape of size not less than 51*51mm (with 80% coverage of face). It should have plain light color background (not white) without the border with front view of person's head and shoulders showing the full face in middle of the photograph."
On the VFS site it says "
• The background should be a plain white
background. "
Please advice on what background to use for OCI application photo for minors ?

In that case parents can sign and you can get minor thumb impression.. also get a doctors note stating the reason and submit it along with application
Our OCI application is processed only after 49 days by the Embassy. It was with the Embassy for 49 days in submitted status before it's processed. Hope this is helpful if anybody looking for real timeline.
HI Suja. For minors less than 5 years of age, I took thumb print and uploaded the digital image of the thumb print. When I printed the form, the thumb print came below the box under the digital photo.
q1) Do we need to paste the physical photo on top of the digital photo on the form
q2) Do minors less than 5 years need to thumb print again within the box under the photo (the digital thumb print already exists). OR do they just thumb print on the declaration page?
