Luis M., thanks for taking the time to make this DIY repair. I have the 48" ZLINE range and had the exact same problem. I got my new lower bake element and wiring harness. I am in the process of replacing my bake element and harness now and needed the information you provided in this video. In addition to the thicker wiring harness, I also noticed the lower bake element has three loops instead of two. I understand ZLINE cannot put an official video like this together due to liability, but if they did for "educational purposes", it would be appreciated.
Luis, thanks for posting this. I just completed the same repair. I contacted ZLine after seeing your video, and they had me complete a questionnaire and send photos. In return they sent me the same element and cables for free of as a one time curiosity as I’m well out of warranty. This tells me there have been numerous calls to ZLine for the same failure. A couple of notes to anyone else who comes across your video. 1. Check all of the wire connections. Several of mine were not fully seated and loose. 2. The cables at my lower element were reversed from Luis’s. As a result it was the multi connection cable that had failed on my element, but it was the left side (left when facing the front of the oven) connection of the element. I wired the lower element as it was when I disassembled. I assume the orientation of the cables at the element isn’t critical considering how the elements work.
I attempted this myself and succeeded (for now). I read the comments and watched the video. Zline did help and felt their customer service was good. By the way, the long harness attaches to the right side of the element. It helps to put a color tape to identify it as you lower it to the opening.
Thanks so much for taking the time Luis. Mine burned once, was replaced and it fried again. As a technician replaced the part I don’t know if the wires are thicker than the original. The element has three curves like yours. I have a new part and the wires seem thicker, we’ll see. The price vs quality is disappointing, as is often the case these days :-(
Thanks for the video. I already replaced the thermostat and the snap thermostat previously on this range and figured it was the same thing again, but looked for a video before jumping to that conclusion. Sure enough, it was the same issue with the burned off terminal on the lower element.
Thank you so much! Great video. I’m having the same problem and you gave me the confidence that I can fix it myself. Your video was perfect, just enough information…. I appreciate it!
Thanks so much for this video! I had the same issue, although my oven made it close to 3 years before needing to do so. Same as you describe, the element has 3 curves now and the wires do look thicker. The element 'support' that keeps the element up off the floor of the oven, I simply used plyers to remove the old element and re-used. I did order the element online, which was easy to do, HOWEVER, then I saw this video and realized I needed the wire harnesses. I called Z-line (took a few calls but they did answer) and they were helpful. You can order the element with the harness in a single SKU, however, they were able to send me both harnesses separately as well but this cost more apparently and then I had double the shipping. I also had a broken light switch for well over a year and purchased that part which was a very easy part to replace since the top was open. Finally, since the stove top was also reasonably priced online, I ordered that part as well since it was all apart anyway, I had tried a 'cleaner' on the top the first 6 months and it really did a number on the top, so now its all new again. Overall, while this was annoying that I had to do this, now that I've done it once and the parts are reasonably priced and because of this GREAT video, I know that I can replace things on this range if the time comes again.
Great job on the video. Our stove is 6 months old. Reached out to Zline, and the customer service was awesome! They sent a new element and harnes, and will give me an authorized service company that will replace it free of charge! Customer service is unparalleled. I have not taken anything apart yet, and since they will replace it free of charge, I will let them. Looking at your connections, " fried" appeared to be caused by a faulty/ loose connection. Either the wire wasn't crimped properly, or the push on part didn't fit snugly. Once again, great job on the video. Hopefully, you won't have anymore issues.
Is it still working with the new element and wiring? I m wondering if i should try one last time same repair 5 th times in 4 years. Seems like connectors caked up in less then a year .
Hey thanks for putting this video together because I have the exact same issue right now and my home warranty company will not cover this low ring defect. But to your point the low ring doesn't heat up at all. I had a technician from our home warranty company come to our place and he said it's common. So I looked to see if there's a recall on the RA36 from 2022 there isn't one. The first time we called ZLine they said it's probably the door that's not working properly. But when we called them again I gave them a little more detail so they gave us a troubleshooting guide and sure enough that Low Ring doesn't come on. Interesting.
Hey I was wondering when the elements went out, did the knob lights still turn on? My induction range stove top works fine but the oven (top, bottom, knob lights and oven lights don't turn on. Zline is just telling me to hire someone to fix it but it is little disappointing because I've only had the oven for 18 months and used it maybe 7 times. I purchased the oven expecting luxury but now I unfortunately just have a oven that doesn't work.
Same problem - lower heating element no longer works. Had the oven just past 2 years. Ridiculous. ZLine should send the parts free. This is a total fail on their end. Unfortunately for me, there is no technician available in my area. So I will be finding someone brave enough to tackle this once I get the right parts. The gas stove works great. The electric oven has been a total disappointment. Takes forever to heat and then the back of the oven is much hotter than the front requiring me to rotate items (this is on low bake). When on High Bake things go from almost done to burnt very quickly. It makes me sad. It's such a beautiful appliance.
I’m about to try this tomorrow! Same lower element, they included a new harness as well. I’m also replacing the pre heat light which died almost immediately. They sent me a video showing how to remove the back to easily access the lower wires although I have to take the top off to get at the light
Thank you! Mine just broke ( just bought in very late 2019). In my case, the bottom element broke entirely into 3 pieces! I'm about to reach out to Z-line; hopefully its easier than you and the other guy's video.
Good afternoon Luis, We’re glad you were able to easily replace the bottom element of the range and get it back up and functioning. We understand how frustrating this process can be, and we appreciate your feedback. If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to us so we can assist you.

Just had the same problem stopped working on thanksgiving had to cook the turkey at the neighbors house. We reached out to zline they were not helpful. So sad we chose this oven. Can’t believe this is not a recall!!!
I have been having this problem since 2019. I have a ra30, and appliance company replaced the element but not the wires. So of course it burnt again where the connector just like yours. I now only use the broiler. Cause as soon as i replace new wires its gonna last few months . At least what i think will happen as far as my experience with this. So far i spent $1800 in repair the same thing. Every repair guy does the same repair, replacing the burned out connector and some of the burned wire. Plus $2200 for the stove. I m out $ 4000. Customer service told me to use Airfast repair here in coh oh. If they dont give me a year warranty with it, i m getting a gas stove from lowes this week. This item may be recalled like their gas version that people actually got sick from CO monoxide . Just do a google search.
I'm having the same issue. Did the wiring harness come with the heating element? I have the order number for the element, is there and separate number for the wiring harness? Thank you!
Your video has been the only helpful thing we've found! Thanks! Quick question... I see that Zline has the bundle of the lower bake element+wiring harness online. Can you confirm if this is what you got... Part # RA 035 HEW ?
I have a brand new one just installed. Not sure why the oven does not heat up at all. There is power and gas, because the stove is working. Keep searching.
Mine did the same twice. I’m wondering if I did something wrong with the connector. But it seems like a lot of people are having the same problem.🤔 Mine is also just over a year old.
I have Z line 36 inches gas range and for some reason its timer knob is not working. Because of timer know the oven is completely off and the fans are not working as well. any idea ?
Have had the exact Zline range on the second or third time baking, the bottom element blew out and a little fire started on the electrical connection. I contacted Z.ine and not I'm waiting to hear back from them. seriously, thousands of dollars. I expected better.

I also had the same issue with the lower element twice so far and I have the larger gauge wiring harness. I took pictures of the fried wires because it looks like a dangerous product and ZLine must be aware of the issue.
