  • Here’s a video of the first trip out with an old grinder we picked up, and have been getting back to reliable working condition.
It’s taken longer to get it running than expected as we have been quite busy and struggling to find time to spend on it.
It’s out and about now, and has shown no major issues.
There is still a fair bit to do on it, but for now she runs 💪🏻

Hello, why are you milling without V-belt protection? How can the belt withstand this? You can read everywhere that it is so sensitive.

Thanks for noticing there isn't a cover fitted.
The biggest issue here is personal safety.
The machine wasn't fitted with a cover when we purchased it, and is being run without it during the testing phase.
We are looking at upgrading the cover system, and converting the machine back to poly chain as the manufacturer had intended it to be.
If you look closely you will see that this machine is fitted with a double row chain drive, and not a Vee Belt.
      Thanks for watching.

Hello, there should definitely be closed protection over the chain drives. Think that the chain drive is much better than the V-belt. Many Rayco cutters complain that the V-belts don't last long. However, chain drives should be lubricated.

@@rosewood7794 I think the chain is harder on the rest of the system than a belt drive.
It is not the ideal environment for a chain as it is high load, in a dusty environment.
      The chain gets HOT!
      Lubrication is indeed required.
Our other RG50 has the original poly chain set up, and we haven't had any issues with it.

@@Northsidestumpgrinding Rayco used chain drives on the RG 1645 and the first RG 45 milling machines. Later switched back to V-belts. I think the chains lasted too long and no more V-belts were sold. It's just my opinion. This would have to be researched. These chain drives had grease lubrication. Greetings
