Hey I was famous in Missouri everybody knew my name From Kansas City to St Louis they knew how well I played my game Now it sure feels strange to be in South Dakota out on the range Sometimes my heart feels heavy sometimes my head feels light Sometimes I think back to Missouri and other times I feel all right But it sure feels strange to be in South Dakota out on the range Cause there ain't nobody to hear it anymore And there ain't nobody out here keepin' score And when I look back it seems like such a crime To believe a woman who was lyin' all the time Hey I was famous in Missouri I sure was fast with a deal Long before the women and the whiskey made my heart forget to feel And it sure feels strange to be in South Dakota out on the range Yeah it sure feels strange to be in South Dakota out on the range
A great track. Thanks for posting. I haven't heard this in twenty years and have been looking for it almost that long. No digital format available (yet). Maybe one day.

Anybody have an idea what happened to the video of Tom T Hall "Sad Song For A Friend"? I sure miss it. Please re-upload that thing and bring the world back in order. Thank you for posting this one.
I'm a 39 year old punk rocker and nothing is as good as Tom T. Hall. Btw thanks for the upload but the description and writer credits do need to change :)
Just a great song - one of the few Tom T. Hall recordings that The Storyteller didn't write himself. I remember hearing Mr. Hall on Ralph Emery's daily radio show in the summer of 1984. Famous in Missouri was the first single from Hall's underrated Natural Dreams album. Emery mentioned that the song had taken off quickly on the country charts - particularly in Florida. Bergen White did the string arrangements on the album. Hall was so pleased that he sent White a bottle of brandy. P.S. I Love You (Hall's last Top 10 hit) was the second single that came from the Natural Dreams Lp.
Not sure where all you folks get the idea Tom T didn't write this song, he did!! 69,572 views Nov 24, 2010 Famous In Missouri Sung by: Tom T. Hall Written by: Tom T. Hall
I have a copy of the '45 and Tom T. Hall is NOT credited with writing Famous in Missouri. The song was written by Jerome Clark (lyrics) and Robin Williams (music). If you read through the comments you'll see a post from Jerome Clark's wife verifying this.

Great soundtrack. Loved the movie. It was borderline award worthy for many reasons, combine them all and its worth 100 minutes of your time.
Me as well
2 WOODFORD’S!
Love this - reminds me of being 6 years old and falling asleep in the back of my mum and dads car coming back from the beach. Good times.
Authentic country is the best

Hey I was famous in Missouri everybody knew my name
From Kansas City to St Louis they knew how well I played my game
Now it sure feels strange to be in South Dakota out on the range
Sometimes my heart feels heavy sometimes my head feels light
Sometimes I think back to Missouri and other times I feel all right
But it sure feels strange to be in South Dakota out on the range
Cause there ain't nobody to hear it anymore
And there ain't nobody out here keepin' score
And when I look back it seems like such a crime
To believe a woman who was lyin' all the time
Hey I was famous in Missouri I sure was fast with a deal
Long before the women and the whiskey made my heart forget to feel
And it sure feels strange to be in South Dakota out on the range
Yeah it sure feels strange to be in South Dakota out on the range
Tom wasn't George Jones or Merle Haggard, Waylon or Cuck Pride, but he was 1 hell of a country singer. Tom was top 10 in my book.
Tom t Hall's the best
What an outstanding song and version sung by Tom. Very potent in thinking that it's an old Tom looking back at his great career in country.
Tom t hall is and will always be a good singer.this is good to play every ware.
Love this ❤️
His lyrics is fantastic!

i thought i had one of the few missouri songs..the title may be my swan song.
@kerfosity Thanks for the correction. I'm pretty sure I just assumed it was written by Tom, for obvious reasons!
Anyone see that rainbow yesterday?
Mr. Robb, Tom T. Hall did not write this song. My husband Jerome Clark wrote the lyrics to this song. Robin and Linda Williams wrote the music. Can you please fix this? Thank you.
Someone pointed that out 5 years ago, and I thanked them for the correction. I can't change it because the video can't be edited.
Eh, bummer. Thanks for posting it, though. It is a great song. And maybe the royalties will somehow find their way to hubby.
And, oops, I was mistaken. Only Robin wrote the music for this one.
Ms Henderson, you must be proud of your husband writing such a lovely song. And he must be proud of you for raising this matter in such a polite way.
The song is great but it does not even sounded like being a Tom T.-fathered one.
If Kris Kristofferson says your one of the best then u must be.
wat is the name of the album
The album name was Natural Dreams, released on Mercury records in 1984. Famous in Missouri was also released as a single.
