  • Announcing the first episode of 'High Street Histories', a new ten-part series of illustrated conversations between historian Ivan Bunn and writer Dean Parkin exploring Lowestoft's High Street. Using rare archive photos alongside modern views, these evocative short films travel back in time to unpick the stories of the town's most historic street and the buildings found there, past and present.
The first installment covers the 'Top End of the Street' sharing the history of Arnold House, tales of the surrounding buildings and the effects of wartime bombing in the area, before rediscovering a row of long-lost buildings and shops from 1897.
All episodes of High Street Histories have an accompanying worksheet, ideal for young people age 5-11, which can be downloaded from - www.historicengland.org.uk www.poetrypeople.org www.thinklowestoft.co.uk
