I fell in love with the company the moment I heard about them, the first time I got to play one in a music store I was reminded by the staff that I had played for several hours, they wanted to shut the store and I was the last one there. I'll never forget playing this bass, playing stuff I usually couldn't or struggled with and forgetting about playing the bass. That bass got in the way so little, that it was just about music and enjoying the sounds, nothing else. It's absolutely on my bucket list owning one of Gerald's basses.

Very well put!! I had the same experience when I was on my way to buying my first Marleaux.

    Great playing.
This might be the only 5 string that I like the sound of.
    Nice to hear a non-flabby B.
    Cheers.

I haven't watched many of your videos, but I've seen enough to be able to say that you're a really good soloist!

Thank you for playing low on the B string in your demos. Clarity down there really separates the wheat from the chaff.

Doesn't get much better than the sound of this one!

BedroomBassist Agreed. I tried one after watching this video. Sweet bass! The only ones that topped it: Miura mb-1, and the clear winner for clear low B - Ken Smith, which is in my price range used. Sadly I can’t justify a new Marleaux. Other mentions: Roscoe and Xotic. Got any to add?

hahabass Haha! Yeah maybe. Although I *suppose* I shouldn’t propose to another woman cos already married her older sister... my Consat Straight! (The one in the ‘A Happy Little Loop’ video). And thanks for the kind words. 🙂

That bass is beyond belief anyway, but nice playing, too! Well done.

Setting the EQ to 100/50/100 is the best way to ensure that Your bass is not heard in a band context.
I think one should set the EQ flat to get an impression of how an instrument sounds. If it doesn't sound good at flat EQ-Settings it's crap. You can't add something to the sound with an EQ that's not there at first.
I know the Marleaux are excellent sounding with a flat EQ.
Most of the time You only have to use the EQ to get special effect sounds or to compensate bad amps or bad room acoustics.
In my opinion setting the EQ to extremes, esp. the bass, it disturbs / muddies the sound of the instrument.

If I can’t find someone to be with in my life, and/or if I had to marry someone younger, I’d very likely marry a bass guitar. What else can I say? It’s the 2000s and #LoveIsLove.
