Are those oil squirters supposed to provide additional cooling on the bottom of the pistons, or they are main lubrication source for the pistons?

Hello! I found your video and I wanted to ask. I have an e46 and my engine over heated and it consumes a quart of oil ever week. What would be the best way to approach to fix this?

Yikes, did the oil consumption start after the overheating? Definitely get the coolant system serviced, there's lots of plastic parts that can leak. If it still runs fine I'd leave it alone, but if not I would suggest a used replacement engine.

@@rainvillecreative5410 TY for responding back. I thought about getting a short block and rebuilding it from the ground up but would it be worth it?

@@howlingmedia4354 Could be, depends on your budget, how much time and how many tools you have, and how nice the car is.
