The only thing i know is that all helper tools to create arkwiki etc is based on an external source where one person is left to substain it and its made for UE4.
And there is currently no option that this will be converted into UE5.
All mods which is why ARK became what it is are in UE4 and most of the modders are gone. And they are still own their rights to their mods. So when the mods are death they are death and neither WildCards no anyone else can just remake them because he wants to. Its not his sourcecode.
The whole Mod Shop remembers me alot about what i heard that Bethesda did with Fallout.
I have stopped playing ARK and currently I dont see a reason to start playing it again and with Ark Remake and Ark 2 soulslike God of War copy.

The new deal is worse if you are interested in Ark 2. Given the descriptions I have seen so far (Soulslike combat) I am not interested in that game. So the new deal is actually better for me. Not as good as a free upgrade, but better than having to buy a game I don't want.
They could mitigate most of the damage if they weren't so greedy and offered at least some heavy discount or promo for those who already have the game. Also the fact the old game is still being sold with no info about the imminent servers shutdown is scummy - and I don't care that 'nobody play official', that's beyond the point.

The shutting down the servers is the part that gets me. None of the other parts prevent someone from playing as before - they just have to pay for upgrades that may not be reasonable, but then they have the choice to do so. People who play on the servers don't have that option though.

Agreed and I touched on that Steam disclosure issue in a previous Ark upload. 25-30 is all that should.be charges for ASA + DLCs.
@LtBuzzLitebeer I have to disagree with you on that one. They are re-writing the base code to ASA which in turn is basically creating an entirely new game from a coding stand point. They are just fortunate that they have the assets ready to be plugged in and upgraded to the new graphical standard that will be present in UE5. I understand the frustration most ppl are having but I also understand the work that would go into what Wildcard is doing.
It's always been weird to me. When they have a game that makes those kids of dollars they look at it and go, "Ya know what? That's under monetized."
They really did, and stretched it all too thin. Who makes an expensive animated series voices by all celebs and a whole new game with all new everything from scratch then oh BTW lets also make an update whoops I mean another all separate game remastered all at once. I knew something like this was going to come when I saw all of that way back when they announced partnering with Vin for it. I was concerned then and I see the conclusion in real time now.
All corporations are like that lol, I cant think of many large companies with even an ounce of credability.

China is a "low trust society" which means they'll stab anyone and anything in the back for a penny no matter how well things are going, because it's MONEY and only a dumb person wouldn't do it. Like-wise, waiting in line for 3 days for 25c is also part of their concept of the SMART MAN because it's MONI man.
My 2 cents: all publicly traded companies are shyte and those that go from private to public join the pile. Once you go public the ONLY obligation you have is to keep the investors happy, and investors ONLY want money. Investors will burn a company to the ground for another dollar and you will happily do it. There may be a handful of publicly traded companies that won't sell YOUR soul for a dollar, but they would be the minority. Personally, I'd like to see some companies buy back their shares and go private again to regain their souls, but I don't see that happening. Enjoy.

All the ark reskin/versions like pixARK etc basically make up 70% of the catalogue that snail has.
They wont. Wildcard/Snail, just like every gaming company out there understand that gamers are the absolute least principled consumers of any market. Watch wildcard's 2017 gdc talk and you can see them state that they take rants by gamers with a grain of salt because statistics show that they'll still end up buying. Wildcard is just simply again banking on that statistical knowledge and quite frankly, its not failed them yet (unfortunately).

Love the game and i am basically somewhat of an expert on PVE but i havent played since 2018 and therefore wont buy it unless its really worth it.

its sad that, that's what its going to take & also TBF Wild Cards been getting restructured by it Parent company since day 1 if you look at their like list of developers you'll see several key personnel changes, changes made because these team Leaders were vocal about opposing NFT's in ARK ATLAS & any game really, or they were adamant about a Free ASA to owners of ARK & because Wild Cards only a Development studio & Snail Games in their Publisher Wild Card bends the Knee. Because that's the corporate world so honestly I don't Blame Wild Card I blame Jeremy Stiglits as the WORST decision he EVER made was signing a deal with Snail Games back when they first launched Survival of the fittest, that joined Wild Card as a subsidiary to Snail Games & Sold all Wild Cards IP's to Snail Games... if I were the dev I'd reject that offer Throw the CEO of the publishing company out the window, Make a call to my teams Delete it ALL Smash & burn the Work PC's & let my company die before I'd EVER give control of MY games to a Publisher that only see's things in $_$
But then I have Integrity, Balls, & a Brutish Nature to get my pound of flesh when I've been Insulted.

They fixed some bugs but got new ones. Still not a finished game. Can't even play sotf mode on Xbox. Played one full game out of 20 some tries
It really was quite the adventure. I was just about to get back into it again after having to take a break from the game to help my sister who struggles with an incurable illness. Just when I'm about to really get back into my tribe of friends and play again... POW I see this.

Been saying this since respawned bundle was announced: ITS TOO MUCH, ASA should only be $20. The DLC's should carry over IF YOU ALREADY BOUGHT THEM FOR ASE. NEW players should still be charged for the DLC. This solution is literally the best and most fair for everyone. INCLUDING SNAIL GAMES.
I heard recently the CEO of Snail Games the publisher has been cheating for years in Ark and making the Wildcard devs do his bidding. It really has made me not want to gave anything to do with this game.

Also this whole debacle of ASA is wild to me and shits on the player base.

Ark's downfall is near.. 20,000 people have left the game since the bad news about losing the ability to play the official game because the servers are being wiped and re-purposed for Ark: 1.5 and later for Ark: 2.0!! The community has been divided and most of those 20,000 people will not be coming back to this franchise.. they have left all of it behind!! These people have put in 1,000 hours up to over 30,000 hours to be where they are in this game and it is being wiped!! The decision to not work to see all of our data go from Ark: 1.0 to Ark: 1.5 only shows us how little both WildCard and Snail Games value the time we have put into this game to get the things we have or to be where we are!! A divided community that is at odds is not a community that will support new things!! The gamble is Ark: 1.5 will have less bugs, will have better support and will have an active enforcement team to police and enforce the official servers!! That is all fine to say that but where has any of that been for Ark: 1.0 for years?? Heck tonight my game crashed due to a horrible bug!! If Ark: 1.5 is not perfect then this house of 'wild' cards all falls apart but the question has to be asked.. why bother with Ark: 1.5 if those servers will be wiped to kill the official version of Ark: 1.5 to force sales of Ark: 2.0 should those behind these games want more money?? Why bother starting again and grinding all over again to see it all wiped in a year or two?? Ark 1.5 seems to be a crowdfund for Ark: 2.0 and use ported Ark: 1.0 UE4 Assets in a new UE5 environment with those ported Assets making Ark: 1.5 a beta testing environment!! Ark: 2.0 is so different people who like Ark may not want it or be willing to buy what was developed for the Xbox and be given a lame Xbox Console Port!! So that means everything rides on Ark: 1.5 and the clowns have admitted they are learning how to work with UE5 and nothing is going to plan with it and that is why our data is invalid!! To me it seems like Ark: 1.5 is a rush job and it is being made as quickly as possible to give something the community needs to pay for to crowdfund Ark: 2.0!! Sorry.. I am not paying top dollar for the same game and content twice with a graphics upgrade hidden behind a paywall where it could be an absolute buggy and glitchy mess but also overrun by cheaters & hackers in no time.. just like Ark: 1.0 has been for years rendering PVP unplayable as a non-cheaters & non-hacker!!
Also, if ARK 1.5 doesn't generate sales, will they not be able to afford the cheater police and basically end up with no cheat protection like ARK 1.

They just need to come clean, lower the price, and do the right thing.
Don't forget that they're also sunsetting all of the official servers. So, even if you wanted to just continue playing the old version, you won't be able to unless you either pay for and spin up your own private server or play it single player only. Even if you do that, you'll get no more updates or bug fixes. And the date for that "sunset" is only four months away. Sans that, players will simply lose everything they've ever done in the game.
lol we have bugs from when it was early access still in the game. Im fairly sure we wont be missing out on much UPDATES or BUG FIXES....
No one played official servers. They are literally always empty. Plenty of public servers people think are official are not official.
maybe they will release an SDK to allow people to mess with the game and actually fix it.

I think a better offer could have been (If there set on backtracking there words earlier this year) Price the ASA for $10-$15 if you own the dlc already and 30 For all of ASA and the dlcs for those who don't own it.

You really need to re-title this video so it doesn't get lost in the myriad of 'Ark is evil now' videos. If you highlight that the content is about actual figures, many more people will understand why the Ark community is so angry at Wild Card / Snail after watching the video. Great stuff as usual, hope one day we can talk about how amazing Ark 2 is but will see...
To be honest I just don't feel like paying for something I already bought, even if it does come with some quality of life changes or better visuals.
Them pulling the BS with the free UE5 upgrade switch is like an airline saying they've upgraded your seat to 1st class, but then making you pay for that seat.
I find it weird were only a couple months away from Ark 1.5s release and still have yet to see gameplay.
a great business approach would have been to keep old servers up and come out with the ark remake servers being separate fresh servers locked to only next gen consoles/pc would have been appealing enough for alot of players to upgrade to the ark remake servers... idk its kinda a odd choice to kill off their ps4/xb1 player base. knowing that majority of the console player base don't even own a next gen console
Since the update and as I have said before with over 23000k hours playtime on one account. I have noticed that all servers I currently play on probably 40 % of the bases are in Decay Mode or have decayed with just remnants of Dedi boxes left. Most of my friends are moving on with ark exvcept to our own cluster becaue most of them can't afford or have available next gen consoles. Which is a big factor they didn't even look at NOT EVERYONE has Next GEN. I have a PS5 and on principle and with my friends won't be moving on to spend close to another $200 AUD on a game I already have. Thanks for the updates LT.

This is "you will own nothing and be happy" The EULA says all of Ark is their property, even the characters and dinos, all of it. And poof.
Virtual world is evil in this way. They cannot take your car unless you did not pay or its dangerous to use. A company cannot decide your car is no longer viable and will not be supported any longer, you'll have to get the new version or you're off the roads for good. It seems to be coming though, huh?
It’s like when the primitive servers got taken offline. Little to no warning or reason. Took me a very long time to rebuild my bases and bloodlines for tames and things like that. As a guy that got the game when it was a Game Preview in Alpha on Xbox and having just came back after being gone due to work and getting started on the Viking map this hurts a lot and definitely has made me get a new console for basically no reason now
The devs of wild card are pure garbage. The guy who created the game literally hot sued for 40mil for his no compete clause and he is the same guy who Said the update was gon a be free.

@Raptor Bass no it's absolutely wild card at fault. They blew all that money on bs and that lawsuit. They forced themselves into having a 3rd party over them. They lied about it being free and lied about it not being a wipe. I'm a 205 on official and I will never play ark in any form again. I have 900 days played and quit as soon as they said they were wiping.
@@raptorbass8147 Steiglitz was ordered to cease and desist over the above issue 5 months before they joined Snail, not sure why you are trying to polish a turd (Wildcard) here. He knew he was in trouble and joined snail in order to fund the 40m, could have avoided it all if he just held off the creation of Ark by like a year.
It may be annoying that we have to buy ASA again just to see better graphics etc from the game with nothing really new about it. The real kick in the teeth is shutting down official servers. People out here have 1000's of hours played on those servers and it's just gonna be deleted or turned off. Millions of Dino's, 1000's of hours, tons of breeding just gone. Leaving us to start again. I remember seeing this and thinking it looked incredible, but I never got into it. Seeing what's become of ARK makes me relieved I haven't touched it, and I honestly feel sorry for players who enjoyed it before to see it fall so low.
I'd like to see Snail Games go under, because they won't let Ark go willingly. Studio Wildcard is far from perfect, but I trust them a lot more than I trust Snail. If Wildcard could somehow get out from under Snail and publish in-house, there's a possibility of improvement. Overall, this situation is disappointing, because Ark is a phenomenal game (if you ignore all the bugs, cheating, and bad business practices), and it's the kind of game that clearly has staying power, despite the negatives.
Man it's kind of a shame to watch this all happen, sure ARK is even now a bit of a broken and buggy mess, but it's been fun. But also one of the other things that I'm almost confident is going to happen is that, when the remaster comes out, it's going to be an absolute mess at launch with even more bugs and issues than regular ARK was at launch because this has been a pattern with every dlc launch. The dlc launches, it's broken and can be considered nearly unplayable because of how broken it is at launch, and then they eventually fix it; and I just can't in any good faith give any money to this thing after this point since it's likely to happen again. I agree with sticking to the plan of a $25 at max for the base game + all the current dlcs for the remaster maybe, depending on just how broken it all is when it actually launches.

Ark was a fantastic game, cant believe they would be so careless as to tarnish its reputation with ark 2 on the horizon. Dumb move is the only way i can describe it.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'm sorry... Ahem... I couldn't keep that in. You must be new.... This is not even new for Snal much less for WildCard. I played even from the earliest of early access with my tribe, best believe it's business as usual for them. This isn't even the first lie they told the community. WC doesn't have a great rep it has a great player base that puts up with them. There was a time when they refused to replace a dino lost due to bugs THEY left in the game for years. You still glitch death in the right place. 6 years later. The game is fun, the dinos and players are great, I wouldn't say the reputation is all that good.
Let's also include server hosting costs, an AWS EC2 server is not cheap. I don't know the requirements for a server so I went midrange with my estimate and built one on the AWS site. Just for one EC2 server it's around $6000 a month which is a server capable of hosting 10,000 players. Let's factor that into your estimate too.
"Upgrade" is not worth anything to me. I'm not paying for their transition to UE5. Not one more penny from me until you finish Ark Survival Evolved, it's still a buggy mess needing optimization of the graphics and game mechanics, tames disappear, items stop working for no apparent reason requiring restart of game to fix. I fell to my death in the ocean when dismounting my baryonyx on more than one occasion. My tames behavior settings change by themselves requiring me to reset them to my preferences. Learn to finish what you started before asking for more money, Wildcard/Snail! Learn to code!

I am an ark player on Playstation since 2017 and have logged 10750 hours on Ark. I have met lots of really good people who have formed a community with me and others. Let's just say 15 people playing official.ark only, not one of us has intent on paying anything for Ark ascendant. And even less of a chance on playing Ark2 under its current direction of gameplay which has nothing to do with ark as we know it. If I had to guess right now I would say that there is less than a 30% chance that ark2 is ever released. And even less of a chance of it if it is released matching the original financial generation. I have not seen anybody mess up this bad since the demise of zipper interactive.
I own Ark in Windows version, steam version, Ps5 version and Xbox SX. All full versions with all the DLCs
In the middle through late year when I played ark through gamepass, all dlc was included then I picked up the base game from Epic Games when it was free a few months ago with no dlc which I did buy. So I only spent $50 in total back in late February. Not sure if this info will help in future videos but here it is.
Knowing the company i'm pretty sure it will be a buggy mess on when it comes out. As for the dlc's. If it sells good, they will make them. Most likely they will make one or two and then abandon it like they do with all their games
Totally agree about the bugs, it's going to be a mess no doubt, but thing is, Ark survived bugs and all for nearly 8 years. DLC's... it's just basic port of assets and some little work on making everything fit the way they want it to. If they had the team for it, 4-5 months a map is totally possible... but I don't think they got that kind of man power. WC has always been late with updates, late with DLC and even events on different platforms are often late. Things are likely to go on with PVP. Ark players have the money for it, the question is, do they have the impulse control. PVP is mostly pleased, they are mekking down, happy to be wiped and start anew just like they have always been begging WC to do. Check out the older Community Crunches, it's always got PVP guys mad about cheaters, mad about meshing, begging for a full server wipe... it's all over the community forums all the time.

I play Ark on a PS4 so I knew I wouldn't be able to play Ark 2 anyway. But I still had the Ark One to play. When I heard mods for console I was super excited. Then I was pretty much slapped in the face with the fact that I still won't be able to enjoy the game without upgrading my console or getting PC. To make matters worst I'm stuck with a game that will not receive anymore up grades or attention what so ever in the future. We all know the Ark One is not with out it's problems all this time and they're issues that have never really been fix. So the conclusion for me is I won't be play Ark at all. I am really sad about it all. I loved playing the game. I met so wonderful people play Ark and will some do so again. I am not so much as mad but just really sadden by their decision to do it this way.
Reselling the SAME game at full price is insane. Asa should be a free update. Making the expansions “trickle content” is a super shitty move… it’s a giant middle finger to Snail’s entire community and player base.
I'll essentially not touch Ark until I see a Ark II and it's confirmed to not be a shot show like most games these days.

I’ve had Ark since it was free on ps plus. However, I paid for all of the dlcs less than a year ago. Now they want me to pay again? You’ve made an absolutely massive point on the financial standing. I think it’s time they give back to the community
Honestly, there should be a lawsuit. I recommended that my boyfriend buy Ark 1 because it was supposed to be a free upgrade. I would have him refund it but it's past the 2 hours permitted by Steam. If I had known what I know now I would not have recommended him purchase Ark and wait till Ascended dropped.
Great video. Great research. We now know all this but we can't do anything about the problem. They're still going to charge $60 and are still going to shut down servers. They're leaving us with no choice but to buy it or we cant play Ark at all. It's unfortunate
You don't have to play on a server. Single player will be unaffected

Wouldn’t be surprised if the people talking positively about the price developer are charging for the UE5 update are paid review professionals. Yes this profession is real. The developers hope by adding positive reviews it possibly over-ride the negative publicity. For example the person looking at purchasing Ark may not pay attention to the negative reviews especially when there are so many positives. I think this is called blind revenue where the developers hope consumers miss the fine print (the reviews stating how Ark servers shut down in August) and make enough to make up for loss over their own stupidity. It would be interesting to know what they we’re really thinking in this decision
I didn't pay a single dime for ark because I got it for free when it was on sale on Steam. I'm not paying for some graphic improvements, but I will pay if they can fix the damn bugs that have been around for ages (e.g. long neck rifle reload issue).
30 dollars for ark remastered with all the dlc’s in the bundles sounds reasonable. After all many other studios do so, also if they allowed server transfers for the OG players would be a great idea. However none of this is gonna happen.
I think they should just bundle ASA with the original ARK Survival Evolved for $49.99 and give it for free for people who own ARK Survival Evolved and its DLC
This might be a hot take but the people complaining they might have to buy a game are also more than likely the same people who have been buying every skin in Fortnite ( just using as an example )and has auto renew on for their battle pass subscription paying 25 a month for the EXACT same game. So if you have battle pass for 1 year it’s $300. So let’s say you paid $60 for ase then $60 for asa that’s only $120. So at the end of all this do you think ASA will be better that 5 months of a battle pass ?

The server shut down is the main issue I have. Everything else is a choice the players can make (even if it's not a good one) but if you shut out a portion of your players from how they played before, that's no longer a choice.
No one played official servers. They are all empty. People think they were on official servers when they were not.
Vin Diesel (Mark Vincent) has been reported as being a major financer/producer for the game. How does he feel about what they're doing? Is he supporting these decisions?
my issue isn't even the fact that the game costs money its the fact that they first advertised it as free then went back on it and not only that but they are shutting down the servers and effectively forcing people to either upgrade or rely on dedicated servers which will either cost you money or be forced to rely on some random guy to not change his mind and turn off the servers, I don't have a problem with games getting remastered and costing money (recent example is re4) however in the case of re4 they aren't remastering it at the cost of tons of their current player base like ark is
also another thing that makes things even worse is that we aren't even getting every dlc on launch so all the people who for example have extinction as their preferred map are just screwed since they will need to wait months if not years just to finally be able to play it again on the official servers
It's a shame to see this happening to ark. Ark was a really fun game that me, my brother, and my dad had played together since scorched earth was released. I remember when my dad bought me my own Xbox so I can play with him and my brother.
Played the game for 8 years I have the biggest colour collection that I have worked on it’s a bit lame that they’re shutting down the servers to reuse them same servers on 1.5 with UE5 that’s ridiculous, if they want me to buy 1.5 I would be happy to if it doesn’t have lag constant blue screen and timers on transmitters if it’s the same with the lag I would want my money back tbh because them 8 years I have played for was really only 4 years with all the roll backs from lag if u think about it
I have seen a lot of people saying 'oh the store page doesnt mention official servers' yet if you go the the top of the page , skip the visuals and read the game description. I does mention 'play on both hosted and unofficial servers'. what is also interesting, where it mentions studios and publishers , it doesnt mention Snail at all..
No reason to start a new character for 1.5. mean the world to a lot of us to push the whole let your character “ascend” to ark survival ascended.
I get this whole thing, but like others have said, if they had a discount to people who already play it, and the only other thing i would care is, if they make it, to where maybe just for a limited time after launch, where u could transfer characters, and a limited amount of creatures and items over to new Ark Ascension, before they shut down the servers... Id be fine with that tbh... Gives the players at least the chance to salvage the HOURS of playtime that they put in to Survival Evolved...

It's funny. I have said for the past several years now that Ark: Survival Evolved is a titan. The only thing that can kill Ark, is Ark itself. Fast forward a few years and here we have it. Ark's true "Ragnarok". Except, with less natural disasters and way more greed.

On Ark that can mean multiple things.
You should never expect a company (who’s only motivation is to make money) to do anything that isn’t in the best interest of the company. I’m gonna be honest I’m gonna buy it regardless.
I'm theorizing that they're doing this is probably because they realized that a good chunk of Ark players got the game and dlcs for a good deal or nearly for free, paying only for genesis 1-2 and game pass. I'm gonna assume that they consider that a massive loss and they're attempting to "recover" those loses.
plus they lost 11 million on ATLAS.. Another Great Game they claim to own and work on... their stocks are down well over 60% in the last year alone... Short Snail games Stock and make out well !
They also know no one plays on official servers and keeping them up is a massive cost.

They sold me a car - then put new hub caps on it without asking me if I needed them. They told me the hub caps were free but a week later told me I was going to have to pay for the car again in full with extra costs if I want the new hub caps. They also tell me they will fix all the flaws in the car that they were aware of for 8 years and did nothing about. The community then tells me I should be grateful for all of this and that the company is poor despite selling 30 million cars and that they need to make money from all this to survive. That about sums this up.

I own ASE and all DLC's. I'm not paying for all of that again. For one reason, I think Genesis 1 was a heaping pile. Two, Snail is trying to double dip. I'll just keep the great memories I have and play D4.
The greatest asset Ark has going for it is its community and modders. I've spent thousands of hours playing on mod servers versus maybe 20ish hours on vanilla servers. The creativity and dedication the modders and the community members is what truly makes Ark a great game
They only spent $1.5M on dev in 7 months??? That equates to about 2 developers and does not include testers (a rare commodity in video game dev shops), product managers, IT support, etc.

Something i haven't seen mentioned is the massive lawsuit that wildcard paid out in the early days of ark which probably is where a lot of the money went

Most of us just wanted to be able to continue with what we were already playing what's not being talked about is when this all goes down most of us are going to be losing all of our progress and dinosaurs on pve that we have worked on and yes I know they are only digital creatures but some people get pretty attached to their favorite animals I know people who have just given up on the game all together and even "put down" their own animals ahead of time with a great deal of sadness
Atlas was supposed to be a Pirate themed update for Ark. Because the community was not happy with the raft or the motorized raft only.
We were supposed to get a new map with bigger oceans and custom ships and that is why it plays very much like ark
The update had an issue with some of the dinosaurs coding.
Instead of fixing the broken or damaged code they decided to make The update a standalone pirate game called Atlas.
Wild card Or snail went out of there way to try to hide that it was supposed to be an update for Ark.

We didn't need the graphics update anyway if you are playing on the newest Xbox Series S/X. PS5, PC.
The game still looks and works fine.
It's only people with the older console / systems that are having trouble.
They're shutdown the servers because they got increasingly toxic because they didn't keep the community in check and put toxic players on toxic only servers like they promised.
And because they f***** up their own budget.
Literally all they have to do is provide promotional pricing for previous owners and make a bundle that includes everything with ASE and ASA with all DLCs. It's really not that hard. Snail probably isn't down for that though. They'd rather run their stock into the ground apparently.

One thing I've learned about big business it's never enough.
I started playing Ark when Extinction came out and I enjoyed the game. When Atlas released, I played until about a year or so ago. I also grabbed Outlaws of the Old West when it launched. Outlaws was mismanaged from the get-go and died within a couple of weeks--there hasn't even been a patch for the game in years. Atlas was alright, and I enjoyed it immensely until they decided that Lawless islands should be able to be claimed. Ark SE I have in its entirety on XB and most of it on PC. There's no reason for me to purchase the graphical update for it, and since I'm also a GamePass member, why would I need to buy SA or Ark 2? Just gonna stick with SE and if I need/want something for it, I'll mod it.

Part of why they redid it was because they were lumping in free access to Ark 2 in the original deal which is underselling their newest and still highly anticipated game. Personally i rather pay 119 for everything than 89 for JUST ark:SA. Since Ark 2 access was JUST *early access* it never said permanent, free access to Ark 2 so that may have still been another 60 or so bucks for ark 2.
89+60 = 149. Not including Tax. So, my thoughts are: We're actually likely still getting it for cheap. Also, i loathed the idea of having to buy the DLC bundles and im much happier they're now all packaged with the original game.
I may have to pay for the game again but the New features coming to ARK:SA + the rebuilding of the game makes me perfectly fine with that. Granted, i'd still wait and make sure the game is as good as it seems BEFORE buying, but i really do think Wildcard is making the right choice here and that this Version of Ark will be far better than the Original.
so ASA is also going down the road of Paid mods... Well I'm definatly not getting the game now & with ASA mods being managed by overwolf we have a new issue the current overwolf system makes a SECOND INSTALL of the game EVEN if the optimization shrinks the file size by 50% the full ASA is still going to be 121Gb with a 30 to 60Gb final expansion...& overwolf requires you to have the OG game installed so we're STILL going to be over 260Gb on our machines. on top of this Paid MODS ugh IF I have to PAY for N+ or Upgrade station or ARK Additions, guess what I'm NOT!
ANY modder who takes this deal has either been paid HEAVILY by Snail Games to make the mods or is only in it for the money & won't care if the mods a buggy P.O.S. that crashes the game more than Enron crashes a stock Price. & these modders won't care cause thy got their money! Paid mods is NEVER a good thing this company is so Greedy I can't even THINK of an analogy that suits it! & I was going to say King Midas had a son with Scrooge & still that kids not greedy enough.

From my understanding, Ark Ascended is NOT the UE5 upgrade that was originally promised to be free.
The free upgrade was planned to be the Nintendo switch version with graphic settings unlocked for the stronger consoles and PC
(I personally was not that excited for this upgrade when announced as it was a forced upgrade,and most of my mods would probably never work again, locking me out of my multi-year long single player experience)
Ark survival ascended is supposed to be a "remake/remaster" of ark survival evolved.
New content, new controls, new ai behavior, and obviously, new engine, so better graphics and performance.
If when it releases it is essentially Ark Switch but prettier, I'll eat my words.
I won’t be playing Ark anymore along with most people in the servers I was in. To bad because Ark was by far the best game out. But they killed it for us. Rip I’ll be playing No Mans Sky now
They will not get a dime out of me until they come up with something better. Honestly i'd pay $20-$25 tops for the UE5 upgrade. As you said, i have no idea if I want to play Ark2 yet. Based on the little i've heard, it does not sound like something i'd be interested in.

Most the player base feels the same... from PVE. It's a lot of PVP people who are happy with all of it. I don't know what will shake out of it, but I think by August, we'll see how the mood is and have a better idea of how desperate the company is and how addicted the players are.
We haven’t even seen ark in ue5 yet lol, they are making us pay for that too without any proof of concept

I'm sure it might have been said already, but wouldn't it hurt, if this ue5 upgrade that we were gonna get for free, is just the base of what ark 2 is going to be built upon.
Dnot buy either ARK Ascended or ARK 2, before ARK 2 comes out. Then we can see which of the two games we prefer and just only buy the best of the two :D

When Ark first came to playstation4 it was only like 20 dollars I can't tell you what year this was because I had a brain tumor surgery since thin and that was in June 2015 and at that time Ark on PSN was still not completely fully develop and it was being sold on the PSN

For a game that still feels like it is in beta, this is just insane. Ark can be fun if it runs without issues, but that is a rare ordeal
As my opinion, just play ASE instead of buying ASA and wait for ARK 2' release then buy ARK 2 directly..

I never really understood why people were upset with Ark2 being in the original bundle. Sure you couldn't refund and were maybe getting a product that nobody knows anything about, but you weren't paying for Ark2. You weren't paying for Ark2, that was just the freebie they tossed in (Kinda). The price was simply too high for a game you basically already had and have to get the expansions later for a cost as well. With the shutting down of the official servers this was a slimy move.
But, I still didn't see the issue with adding Ark2 into the package. Heck, for that price I would expect it. I would also want all the DLC's when they came out, PLUS I would want access to some of their other titles as well. Seems like a good way to drum up player counts in their other lacking projects, though they could be lacking for a reason. They should have lowered the price as well.
When I saw people wanting Ark2 stripped from the deal I knew this would happen. Strip it out AND increase the price.
Oh well.

I planned on playing ark for 3-6 months before ARK 2 drops, but now, "we" are all wondering if any of us will ever support WC again.
