This song is one of many things within this world that gives me a strange sense of familiarity and/or nostalgia and there really is no explanation to them. Yeah, there is something so special about this song, something that words aren't enough to describe, whenever i listen the start of the song it gives me goosebumps, i really love the instrument that is played, the part on 0:56 is so beautiful.... seriously, Eri Kawai was the perfect singer for this song, i have always prefered the instrumental over the "default" in most cases, this song is one of the few where, whevener i listen to the instrumental, i feel like its incomplete, finally the lyrics of the song are, just as you said, so special... if you dont understand japanese i recommend to watch this version with english subtitles ua-cam.com/video/JhNf0RMf21k/v-deo.html.

Rinne means samsara so this would be a Buddhist song perhaps that’s why your drawn to it.
