I have been flying paragliders since 1992 with no serious injuries. It is similar to motorcycles in danger level. The wind and weather must be understood. Proper training is a must.
Flying between mountains is possible even without the motor. I have had flights lasting for over 3 hours with thousands of feet elevation gain just riding ridge lift and thermals. The motor just increases your options and gives you the ability to fly in non-rising air.
Yes, it can go higher. The LED give my the voltage on the battery cells. It also gives a warning when any cell gets below 3.2 volts. I am very happy with the 100cc RotoMax motor.
With a direct drive unit it is about the same. A gear reduction would reduce the noise a lot but also makes the unit large and more complex. The propellers spinning at high RPM is what makes the noise.
I haven’t flown for a couple of years now, these days the hills seemed too high to climb and petrol power is far too noisy, but you have just inspired me find out about battery fight, and get my wing out….Thanks for the video
I've never para-sailed before. I imagine it leaves one with a sense of freedom that cannot be expressed in words. Although I can see how this could be terrifying to some people. I worry about getting caught up in the top of a tree lol. Thank you for sharing this. Personal solar human flight, it doesn't get much cooler than that.
Lasersaber... you sir... are just "Too Kool!!!" .... to quote my grand kids & great grand kids... A beautiful work of art and science my friend.... thank you for sharing your personal adventures with them and myself sir! Kudos!
That is sooooo cool to fly green. I have a video of a guy who showed up at my flying field with a has powered paraglider. Never seen it before up close. Very cool to see thanks for sharing
That's so amazing and beautiful! It's people like you that change the world. I love watching your videos and seeing your experiments. Thank you for taking the time to document it, and share it with us.
This is truly amazing - flight from the sun!!! What a pure way to travel, the future is here, wow!!! This may even be better than my horse and buggy.....
Wow truly awesome! (Great run time too, an surprised how well you got everything to work with motor, rpm, prop diameter and pitch - looks like you nailed the sweet spot)
I am very happy with the 100cc. If I give it full power it climbs as well if not better than my gas rig. The main thing I want to upgrade is my battery pack.
I am scared of heights but I wanna go with it. I so want to go up. The music was amazing as was the views. Many many thanks for sharing such a wonderful experience.
I love your videos... and apart from being entranced since i started watch and note the books and simply everything you're doing, I hope to learn more and share as well. Thank you
Man, listen. I am not one given to arbitrary compliments nor hero-worship; I believe in myself and I know I can achieve whatever I really put my mind and heart into. That said, I think you might have just become a bit of a hero to me. I want, very much, to have this for myself and I would love to build something like this that runs off of batteries which I would recharge in some off-grid fashion, just as you have. I have already been moving in this direction, but this was inspiring. So inspiring! Kudos, good Sir! Kudos!
I have bin following your vids for a while now...but this just got me to pick up my soldering iron again....Thanks for the amazing work you do and thank you for recording it aalong the way :) Cheer, ZAIN from UAE
Way to go light sabre, all you need now is some screen printed solar cells on your wing, then you can stay up for ages. You deserve all the freedom in the world for the many ingenious things you have created or adapted otherwise.
Laserhacker very well done man ! Watch out, that you don´t crash man ! ;) We still need you to build better Joule Ringers ! ;) Anywell very amazing flight and great scenery there...Please post a longer update movie of the whole setup and what components you use. Many thanks in advance ! Regards, Stefan.
Nova Mentortur ?? Where is this ? WHat kind of charge controller do you use ? Are the batteries Li-Ion or NiMH ? WHat kind of motor and speed control do you use ? Anyway, well done !
Laser nice flying video, makes me want to make one of these buggers too. Have you looked into bi-toroid transformers? These have 2 secondary coils and 1 primary, once the load is applied to the secondaries the seconderies end up feeing into each other! You'll end up with a more efficient transformer. Check it out.
No power is needed. I most often fly with no motor at all. I got most of my training in CA in the early nineties. More recently I got some training with Atlanta Paragliding Enterprises.
Awesome flight and rig. Its soo cool that every morning you could just go for a flight like it's a walk in the park. I wonder if this can be adapted to carry an additional load with you, like more batteries/caps/panel or a small tank for dusting or spraying.
Hello laser, I was thinking that you can maybe optimize your "LIFO" (Lasersaber identified flying object) adding coanda effect around the metallic support. However, the place you leave is wonderfull. Thanks to share. Eric Belistan (France)
What did you end up doing for your throttle control? I have a Turnigy CCPM Servo Consistency Master, and am now in the stages of working out how to modify it into a trigger or something that would be easy to control one-handed. It looks like you have a slim elegant design there...looks like you have a digital readout as well? Excellent work, and thanks for sharing!!!
That was a sweet ride. my kids enjoyed it as well! your lense makes the earth look so small :-) Do you have a parts list? Very interested in replicating it over here. Thanks!
Well Sir, you have my deepest humble and good envy! I love that patch of land that you have under your feet! I don't know If the Good Lord would ever allow me to have something not even remotely alike... Kind of sad that you only can fly about 8 minutes per charge! but never the less that was outstanding! God bless...
very cool. does the motor use pwm to control the speed? how many watthours of power were used during flight? and finally how much would it cost to build something like this?
Great work, I'd love to know the thrust you get with that prop and 100cc engine at what RPM. You must have found something new or magic because theorically you have half the power of the Solo 2strokes engine ... or your total TOW is half of mine ... Thank you for your answer
Simply awesome. What R/C technology can do as of 2013. Did you just keep the altitude above tree level ? Can it go higher ? What is the LED indicator on the throttle grip ? Looks kinda neat. Do you have a plan to try RotoMax 150cc motor in the future ?
they are making solar panels now that is a fabric, would be cool to see it run directly from the parachute and have a backup battery in case it gets cloudy lol i dont know if they can make it thin and light like a chute though
Really awesome! would be a perfect extra for my paraglider! Can achive fly times of what? 10 minutes? Think if just the enough to get ip up some meters where i live would be perfect until catch some thermal. Congratulations on project!
How dangerous are parasail's anyway, You would think there rather safe in the way of engine failure you can simply float to the ground safely. How much do these chutes differ from a regular parashute?

I have 3 acres myself but I am associated with a large organic farm that surrounds my land. The fresh veggies are awesome.
Lasersaber... you sir... are just "Too Kool!!!" .... to quote my grand kids & great grand kids... A beautiful work of art and science my friend.... thank you for sharing your personal adventures with them and myself sir! Kudos!
peaceful music, peaceful flight and just awesome. God Bless
That is sooooo cool to fly green. I have a video of a guy who showed up at my flying field with a has powered paraglider. Never seen it before up close. Very cool to see thanks for sharing
"green" ?
what do you mean?
It's not "green".
It IS cool tho'....
Awesome. I love the way you taped your phone to the chute.
That's so amazing and beautiful! It's people like you that change the world. I love watching your videos and seeing your experiments. Thank you for taking the time to document it, and share it with us.
10-15 minutes on the current battery pack. The unit weighs around 15lbs without the battery pack and around 20lbs ready to fly.
Your exploration of what we know as the human experience is great! I appreciate you taking the time to share this with the all of us. Thanks a ton :-)
Man that was gorgeous to watch. You live in an amazing place too. Thanks for sharing mate!
You must feel fantastic when your flying. Looks like lots of fun. I've flown Gliders and that was a blast.
This is truly amazing - flight from the sun!!! What a pure way to travel, the future is here, wow!!! This may even be better than my horse and buggy.....
Amazingly I got it right the first time. It probably has to do with the way a parabolic curve focuses to a central point.
what a smashing morning..and a great way to enjoy it. :)
Wow truly awesome! (Great run time too, an surprised how well you got everything to work with motor, rpm, prop diameter and pitch - looks like you nailed the sweet spot)

That looks like so much fun. Congrats on the achievement man!
very very very cool video thanks for sharing, I have to many cactus here in Arizona to try to attempt that. but the dual video was cool.
I love your videos... and apart from being entranced since i started watch and note the books and simply everything you're doing, I hope to learn more and share as well. Thank you
Very nice. Got me looking at the paragliding side of things.
Man, listen. I am not one given to arbitrary compliments nor hero-worship; I believe in myself and I know I can achieve whatever I really put my mind and heart into. same. everything about this is so inspiring.
Great flight and good job with your set up!!
I have bin following your vids for a while now...but this just got me to pick up my soldering iron again....Thanks for the amazing work you do and thank you for recording it aalong the way :)

Just look at this - you're done well!
Absolutely awe inspiring. I am going to build one someday now. Thank you for your videos.
This is magical!
Hurray!
The noise is coming from the Propeller cutting the air.
can' like this hard enough. best hobby i could imagine... keep up the good work!
Way to go light sabre, all you need now is some screen printed solar cells on your wing, then you can stay up for ages. You deserve all the freedom in the world for the many ingenious things you have created or adapted otherwise.
I just love your videos! You get me so inspired. Keep up this cool stuff
In a one word: Wonderfull
...Fantastic work done. BRAVO. Wish you the best :)
Looks like I'm going flying soon. thanks dude.
Absolutely beautiful...man this makes me want to fly off solar. Its so natural and amazing. I am currently training to get my paragliding license :)
This is amazing! Thank you for sharing.
Laserhacker very well done man ! Watch out, that you don´t crash man ! ;) We still need you to build better Joule Ringers ! ;) Anywell very amazing flight and great scenery there...Please post a longer update movie of the whole setup and what components you use.

That was awesome, great landing too..
I must try this someday
amazing. love all your videos. you're an inspiration.
Very impressive, well done and thanks for sharing.
Your work is phenomenonal! Keep it up!!
Cool. Minimal noise. Solar power. Genius!
Nova Mentortur ?? Where is this ?
WHat kind of charge controller do you use ? Are the batteries Li-Ion or NiMH ?
WHat kind of motor and speed control do you use ?
Anyway, well done !
7:30 deer running from the human bird :)
and this is next on my build list thank you very much
Thanks, I did not expect that answer but I can see how it would add bulk in your layout. Can't the motor/batteries be tuned down?
that was relaxing, even therapeutic just to watch it
Awesome truly as always. Inspirational

These have 2 secondary coils and 1 primary, once the load is applied to the secondaries the seconderies end up feeing into each other! You'll end up with a more efficient transformer. Check it out.
looks like a blast. i imagine this requires zero winds
No power is needed. I most often fly with no motor at all. I got most of my training in CA in the early nineties. More recently I got some training with Atlanta Paragliding Enterprises.

Fantastic view.
Excellent landing, bro
You are an inspiration. Thank you!
Innovative solutions and very much inspired to see for the first time. Thank you
All it's missing now is some solar cloth to charge it in midair
Might have to settle for building a rigid but folding and barely portable wing topped with solar panels.
What for? To recharge 0.000001% of the power you're using to keep it in flight? At what weight cost? Pointless
Awesome nature in your place! ;)

a lot more quiet I would guess. super nice view
That was a sweet ride. my kids enjoyed it as well!

Thanks!
What a great use for solar power :)
Well Sir, you have my deepest humble and good envy! I love that patch of land that you have under your feet! Wonderful!!!!!
Take care!!!
Just great!!!! Could you please tell us what motor, propeller, speed controller and lipo's you're using actually? Thanks!!!!! :)
Wow, what a great video! Keep it up!
There is no license needed in the USA. Proper training is a must.
Awesome!....now all you need to do is attach flexible solar panels to the top of your parafoil to keep you going!
Great work, I'd love to know the thrust you get with that prop and 100cc engine at what RPM. You must have found something new or magic because theorically you have half the power of the Solo 2strokes engine ... or your total TOW is half of mine ...

Great job!! Limits are only in the mind :)
Awesome! How does the noise level compare to a typical gas powered unit?
Simply awesome. What R/C technology can do as of 2013.

What is the LED indicator on the throttle grip ? Looks kinda neat.
Do you have a plan to try RotoMax 150cc motor in the future ?
Nice landing dude.
very beautiful place you live in. Lots of forests.
how high do you go up to and thank you for sharing love the view
This was beautiful thanks. Do you mind me asking how many acres you have there?
iPhone duct taped onto the kite! hahaha you are awesome.
they are making solar panels now that is a fabric, would be cool to see it run directly from the parachute and have a backup battery in case it gets cloudy lol i dont know if they can make it thin and light like a chute though
Amazing idea!
Very nice Video! Great inspirational job! In what state do you live?? Seems to be a very cool place.
wow, that's great. Very impressive.
What if you make a mount for a solar panel to keep the batteries charged for a longer flight?
Way cool. Not sure is NAS Patuxent River would like me doing this. :-)
LOOKS LIKE FUN
how long can you fly for?
very cool. flying is one of my dreams.. very cool .
Awesome!!! I want one!
how long can you fly for? estimated of course. also, how heavy is the whole set up? 25-30lbs?
Really awesome! would be a perfect extra for my paraglider!
Can achive fly times of what? 10 minutes? Think if just the enough to get ip up some meters where i live would be perfect until catch some thermal.
Congratulations on project!
Brilliant !
How dangerous are parasail's anyway, You would think there rather safe in the way of engine failure you can simply float to the ground safely.
How much do these chutes differ from a regular parashute?
10-15 minutes on the current battery pack.
also(sorry, have many questions), would you upgrade the motor to the 150 rotomax to have more speed? more pushing power? be able to carry more weight?
Incredible!!! wish I could do that!!!
