    I have been flying paragliders since 1992 with no serious injuries. It is similar to motorcycles in danger level. The wind and weather must be understood. Proper training is a must.

    Flying between mountains is possible even without the motor. I have had flights lasting for over 3 hours with thousands of feet elevation gain just riding ridge lift and thermals. The motor just increases your options and gives you the ability to fly in non-rising air.

  • @lasersaber
    @lasersaber  11 років тому

    Yes, it can go higher. The LED give my the voltage on the battery cells. It also gives a warning when any cell gets below 3.2 volts. I am very happy with the 100cc RotoMax motor.

    With a direct drive unit it is about the same. A gear reduction would reduce the noise a lot but also makes the unit large and more complex. The propellers spinning at high RPM is what makes the noise.

    I haven’t flown for a couple of years now, these days the hills seemed too high to climb and petrol power is far too noisy, but you have just inspired me find out about battery fight, and get my wing out….Thanks for the video

    I've never para-sailed before. I imagine it leaves one with a sense of freedom that cannot be expressed in words. Although I can see how this could be terrifying to some people. I worry about getting caught up in the top of a tree lol. Thank you for sharing this. Personal solar human flight, it doesn't get much cooler than that.

    10-15 minutes on the current battery pack. The unit weighs around 15lbs without the battery pack and around 20lbs ready to fly.

    I am very happy with the 100cc. If I give it full power it climbs as well if not better than my gas rig. The main thing I want to upgrade is my battery pack.

    Man, listen. I am not one given to arbitrary compliments nor hero-worship; I believe in myself and I know I can achieve whatever I really put my mind and heart into. That said, I think you might have just become a bit of a hero to me. I want, very much, to have this for myself and I would love to build something like this that runs off of batteries which I would recharge in some off-grid fashion, just as you have. I have already been moving in this direction, but this was inspiring. So inspiring!
    Kudos, good Sir! Kudos!

    Laser nice flying video, makes me want to make one of these buggers too. Have you looked into bi-toroid transformers? These have 2 secondary coils and 1 primary, once the load is applied to the secondaries the seconderies end up feeing into each other! You'll end up with a more efficient transformer. Check it out.

    No power is needed. I most often fly with no motor at all. I got most of my training in CA in the early nineties. More recently I got some training with Atlanta Paragliding Enterprises.

    Awesome flight and rig. Its soo cool that every morning you could just go for a flight like it's a walk in the park.
    I wonder if this can be adapted to carry an additional load with you, like more batteries/caps/panel or a small tank for dusting or spraying.

    I was thinking that you can maybe optimize your "LIFO" (Lasersaber identified flying object) adding coanda effect around the metallic support.
    However, the place you leave is wonderfull.

    What did you end up doing for your throttle control? I have a Turnigy CCPM Servo Consistency Master, and am now in the stages of working out how to modify it into a trigger or something that would be easy to control one-handed. It looks like you have a slim elegant design there...looks like you have a digital readout as well? Excellent work, and thanks for sharing!!!
