  • The very first inspection on our work for our self-built home is taking place! We need to get a few things buttoned up, make sure our pipe is right and then cross our fingers! There is a real sense of satisfaction and comfort in knowing we have multiple systems in place to make sure our off-grid home is prepared for just about anything.
    Shop Our Apparel: www.bunkerbran...
We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and our family life vlogs can be found on our secondary channel wild wonderful off grid

I feel like Erin feeds Josh's confidence with her trust in Josh's ability to figure out how to get it done. It's amazing what a guy can achieve when he has a partner who believes in him. It's something that you young guys should require from any prospective partner. Otherwise, she'll hold you back from achieving your full potential, always chirping in your ear that you should hire someone who knows what they are doing. That will take the soul right out of you..

8:08 " ...a real house, finally, 3 years later..." Personally I think you two have done a phenomenal amount of work to get where you are and 3 years is unimaginably good going. Consider that for most of that time Josh was working and Erin was running the farm when he was at work plus Erin literally had a baby on her back at the start of this journey and there were very few jobs you contracted out. 3 years is great going! You should be proud of how much you have done, the quality to which it has been done and you've been very involved with all of your children through it all. And then there are the untold hours hours have you spent recording and editing this to put it in front of the world! Don't ever question the time it has taken or second guess yourselves. Great work, progress and success on all fronts. Thanks for sharing it with us.

You both are such a breath of fresh air. I love this channel. Josh you don't give yourself enough credit for being pretty darn brillant at most things. You love the challenge and you don't just stay satisfied with the norm, you always make it the best you possibly can. Erin you are the best cheerleader and helper ever. The two of you are a dynamo of a couple. Singularly you are fantastic and the duo of you two is absolutely amazing. You are a team in everyway in everything you work on. God bless you and the family ......such sweet children......the example you give in all you do is what a Good Life is all about. Stay the way you are and enjoy each minute, good, bad or ugly, you two always make it OK. Outstanding couple......love the way you two banter and kid around. You are a magical couple.
Blessings to each of you........I had no doubt the inspection would pass......Josh you are amazing and Erin you are as well........together you are unstoppable. :-) Have a beautiful week!

I’m in the UK and was surprised that the tank wasn’t put onto a concrete slab or large pavers !.
Someone who lives not far from me has one of these big tanks and they put a Fence around but only the 3 ft panels and they put a trellis on top and put planters ( like window boxes )around the top edge of the Fence so when the flowers/climbers grow they grow onto the trellis but you can still see the fence panels.
I’m not a gardener so I’m not sure what the flowers are but from the way that they describe it sounds pretty cool.
Love the Family and well done Josh on passing the Gas inspection for the house....pretty amazing how well you can do everything that is needed.

I'm still just Blown Away with how much you all have done in the past 3 years. I mean every video I watch amazes me. You could throw up a little bit of a privacy fence & stain it to match the building around the propane tank. Just me personally but I would build some kind of wood border stained to match the building as well around the gravel to hold it in place so it doesn't spread out all over the yard overtime.

1000 gallon tanks are the way to go for propane , get it filled in the off season and it will probably last all winter. Fuel is cheaper and less hassle to get the truck up there than in the winter. You will not regret that big tank

Teach the kids how to make rolling dives - a few hundred times so their muscle memory kicks in. I mountain-bike at age-60 because I learned to roll in Judo classes as a kid. When I fall off a mountain bike, I roll out while making adjustments to avoid rocks on the way down. I can usually just roll easily to my feet again without a scratch. Always fall like a banana, tuck and roll out of a dive. :)

I'm 70. I did a flip on my knee scooter. I was able to roll out too.
I ended up in my butt. ( Very grateful for my martial arts classes ) When all were assured that I was fine I got a standing ovation. Ok, four people and no were to sit. I call such thing a win!

I took Judo classes 60 years ago when I was 14. I was the smallest in an adult class and everyone loved throwing me around. Since then.... I have been hit by a car on my bike, tripped and fallen countless times and thanks to Judo I roll and get right back up....

Great video! I grew up with a large propane tank with legs like that and ours sunk in the ground on one corner. We ended up putting one foot square stones under all four corners to spread out the load. Solve the issue for 30+ years. As far as the welding, the tearing is coming from the back side, so the only way to fix it is weld a plate on the back side.

I never got a license to operate a tractor. Though for reasons that go beyond my comprehension my Uncle trusted me to drive it between rows of his tobacco plants over 50+ years ago. I only ran over a few plants. We were suckering tobacco. My Uncle and Aunt found out that the chemicals used to treat the tobacco plants for insect protection I was allergic to. So the last few days I had to stay away from the plants so I was on tractor duty.
