- While we wait for materials to arrive to complete the overhang and railing on the deck we are moving on to the final portion of our home that needs to be built on to- the front entry way. Today we are going from "nothing" to the beginning of a front porch. In a few short weeks then exterior will be completely finished!

We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and our family life vlogs can be found on our secondary channel "Wild Wonderful After Show"
Dollar Store BRUSHES Work 👍👌Great...
Your souls are visible to me. ThankYou - very much.
My Sunday is complete. I got to see you two working (and playing) together and achieving your goals. Chuckie is still doing his job and the kids are enjoying the life you two built for them. Well done.
I've watched your channel since the roofing went up. What talented and skilled folks you have been. Your photography and artistic shots have really evolved into professional quality. Good for you on finishing the entry way but realize that your door has been open to all of us in the process and we really do appreciate it. Thank you.
Good people. I am happy for your success. You earned it. God Bless your family.
totally agree they earn it.
Guys you have no idea how much joy you have brought to all of us around the world. Thank you for inviting us on this wild wonderful journey its been amazing 🇮🇪
@ Joe Kelly
well stated 😃
The closing clip made me smile and laugh at the same time, hysterical! What a fantastic job you are doing, with everything, best wishes!
Same.
i smile and laugh through all these videos you make.
God bless you all forever.
Yea ! ! ! I's wonderin' when you's gonna get around to the front porch. But of course, it is just one of many steps (get it?.....Steps?). So many projects, not enough Round Tuits. You two and all your childrens are so much fun to watch (even if it's just Chuck snoring.) And that fugly faced turkey that enjoys so much being petted. Thanks for sharing.
❣🥰❣
Dude your funny 🤣
Brilliant….you two are so funny 😆 x
CHUCK IS STILL ON THE JOBSITE PLAYING SUPERINTENDENT 🐶
🤣🤣🤣 love ❤️ it ! 😁👍
You two are so hilarious I love watching you. I don’t even care what your building your so good for the spirit. Keep doing what you do and I’ll be here laughing with you.
Karen, I agree with you. I had forgot about that clip. I've really enjoyed watching, Josh & Erin from the start, of the build. They're a fun, beautiful, funny family.❤😆🦋
way back in the beginning you said you were doing the videos for your family . i bet they beam with some serious pride when they watch these videos .
You guys always do a great job I have only one thing to say Josh you are incredibly blessed but I think you know that.
At 64 I am like a little kid in a candy shop waiting for your next video to come up. Thank you very much for making these videos and sharing them with us, and for teaching this old dog new tricks, I have learned so much from you guys. Much love from all of us in northern Idaho and God bless
I love to see you guys just enjoying life, Building the future one board at a time !!!!!!
Love watching your home grow. You are an amazing couple together and a great representation of love and happiness to your children
😂😂😂 What a wonderful day. Ellie the door monitor and little Frankie wanting to go dirt biking. Grumbling bellies latte’s and toupees. Hard work and laughter creating a beautiful family homestead together. God bless you, your wonderful family, all your dreams and adventures. Thank you for sharing so much love with us, brightening our days. 🕊♥️🎺
It's a blessing watching a husband & wife working with harmony & laughter..Beautiful
Ahhh ... the good old days, back when we were torchin' the wood. Feels like forever ago. ☺️

لابد😉
Lol that trend started in the US a few years a go.
Is there a reason for torching the wood? or is it just for the look?
@@d.o.t.collector4728 they say it helps prevent rot and general deterioration without the need of chemicals. Doesn't seem to be much proof to substantiate that claim though. Other than that, it's just a good way to get light soft woods to look like darker hard woods.
Wow! This is a bonus! Twice in the week….I love watching your progress and your dedication. Oh, and the other members of the family…human and animal.
Jamaica 🇯🇲🙏 greetings. Hi Josh and family and fellow Viewers. Nice to have a video to relax
11:26 the family dog gives a smile of approval with the progress on the front porch entryway! 😂🤣
Looks wonderful Enjoy
LOOKING GREAT /BEAUTIFUL !!! 🖤💚💚💚🖤
Josh please put some bearing posts beneath those two beams or the whole deck will rely upon those bolts to hold it up would not be good in the next 15 years when the bolts corrode away.
Came to say this. Either half lap your column posts, or bearing posts. Do not rely on hardware.
Simply the Best!!
"Josh is the master of plum, Ellie the master of fun, the Boys they run and run, and Mum gets it all done" What an amazing family, huge respect.
Best show on TV. period.
Beautiful y’all doing awesome job
You guys Rock! One word of caution in case it hasn't already been mentioned. Your beam should be placed inside a notch on the post or placed on top of a post. Beams held only by bolts to the side can fail catastrophically. Otherwise, great job!
I very much ❤️ your family and watching your build. You’re the Best on YT, imo. No staged theatrics. Thanks for being yourselves and Real. 🤗💕
One of the best you tube video channels. Content, choice of music and extra photos of your life there. Stay in God, make it last !
They should be sponsored by whoever makes her jeans. Love how everything is really coming together. Really helped give me the incentive and courage to do some of the needed projects around my own home.
I have been trying to figure out what brand those jeans are for a couple of years. They seem to hold up well, or lots of pairs from that brand.
@@larak5468 I think the brand name is Krylon.
@@larak5468 They certainly seem to be top shelf.
@@larak5468 she said they were from Walmart in a couple comments a year or so back.
@@jdub229r I heard that too, but never could figure out the brand at Walmart before. I will have to look into Krylon.
Makes me smile every time ☺...thank you for sharing
You have built such a beautiful home 🏡 ❤️👍!!!
You too have not only built a home and a UA-cam channel but thousands of followers that anxiously await what your going to do next! I have been watching from the beginning and have enjoyed the journey!
Can I just say, I can't understand half the time what Josh is saying, but being Italian, I am so happy to hear that he pronounced eSpresso correctly and not eXpresso. Kudos my man!
Vito, believe me you are not the only one who can’t understand what Josh is saying.😜😂🇦🇺
This is what u call a power married couple . i am enjoying every aspect of this home build. This is what u call a off grid home. Its a very beautiful family home. I have watched this channel since day one"The Beginning and many more videos coming cause josh and erin is my favorite people. " You can do anything u put your mind. too.
Love your content. Can't wait till the next one.
It not only takes a great team to work so well together but to be a married team of two, is just "WOW"!!!!! I can't begin to imagine what your hearts and souls must feel like to have accomplished what you have, raise three wonderful children, and homeschool them, AND raise all your animal residents as well!! The world sure could learn a lot from your both and your children!! What an amazing, loving, and blessed family you all are... =8^) You know that all of us who have been watching these years of your excitement and seeing your dreams all come together has been one amazing ride!! So extremely proud of you all!!!!!
Your videography amazes me, the thoughtfulness that goes into each and every shot and editing decision is astounding. You really capture the spirit of your family. You guys are such a joy to watch thank your for sharing your adventure with us.
So many tasks almost done. Home is beautiful.
Another great video love the progress you guy are making and have fun doing it thanks for keeping us update
Thanks for inviting me into your lives, you are a very blessed family.
Phase one nearing completion. As one door closes, another will open. Can't wait. Thanks for sharing.
Totally amazing build, couple, and children. Let's not forget all the animals they all have such wonderful characters. You two have built a beautiful home, family and future. I have so enjoyed and appreciated that you have shared your project with all of us out here in YT land and I look forward to each and every video for the progress and laughter. God's blessings to you ALL and thank you thank you thank you for your awesome video's.
I have enjoyed watching the whole process of your home being built and your family bond as well. Great channel and great content!
I love the way the two of you interact with each other, Love the kids too.
The best comments from today “remember the days are long but the years are short” and “Josh you’re such a diva” 😂 and Ellie “stop making so much noise”❤️
"now all we need is the hairdresser to fix your toup" 😂👍
I have been watching you folks and kids for some time now. Always waiting for the next episode to show up with more adventures in building projects and family interaction. I love your little girl! Melted my heart watching her sitting down and reading a book to the Turkey sitting in along side her. She’s a beauty! Looks just like Erin! The boys are fun to watch in their adventurous activities. Love your family, folks!
You both made my morning with my coffee in hand. I have been following your channel since the beginning, you both remind me of my happy days of family life. Keep up the love and laughter with each other. All my love from New Zealand
Fantastic skills: constructing, communicating, videoing, parenting. Well done---all of you!
"The days are long but the years are short." That is so true!
You ha e an amazing record of your build to share with your children and grandchildren. Beautiful 🌺
Erin, your anticipation of the B-Roll shots to fill in the main action is excellent. You could easily convince anyone there's a full camera crew there the whole time.
Love your videos. I'm excited every time I get a notification that a new one is out!
Epic, I can't think of any other word that describes what you guys have done, what you are and what you are doing, including your own interactions, the cutest little girl and two handsome young lads who make what you are.
You to are a perfect but, fun to watch you achieve your goals. Keep up the great work and life
Hi guys!!, looking at this new structure, I think that you guys should remove the AC compressor from under this new deck and re-allocate it on the right side of the deck, you have enough tubing to do that.
Que alegría verlos trabajar alegres.
Love love love your content... You two are helping my husband and i so much with a lot of things. God bless and be safe.. Any pointers on Homeschooling my son(13 autistic). Again, thank you for great wholesome content.
Working hard for your dream. Love the house. Love the journey. Thank you
Yes!!! Thanks to WWOG my Sunday afternoon just got an upgrade!!!
You two make an amazing couple😊🙏
As mentioned before in previous comments I truly do enjoy watching the videos and the progression of the home build. I do love the comment about the days being long and the years being short. I believe that wholeheartedly all 6 of my children are grown now and living lives of their own. I have nine amazing grandbabies now and they are growing like weeds. I thought that my children grew up fast but watching my grandchildren grow just put what she said into perspective. Enjoy every minute because before you know it they'll be leaving the nest.
Your kids love hearing you two laugh! It's good for their heart and soul and makes them feel safe and happy! You are a wonderful family!
This project has really been a long time coming. Like Josh said, you'll finally be able to enter your house through a real front door and not the bedroom! Also, it's worth noting that you guys are getting ready to turn over 900k subscribers! Congratulations!
Yes..900...!!!👍👏
Greetings from the Netherlands. I follow the progressing you both making. Great to see how two amateurs slowly begin to look like professionals handle all problems finding on their path. I have a lot of respect how you both handle this project and still find the time to give children and animals the attention they need. I almost can't wait to see the end result of the hard labor you both put in. Keep on going, and God bless you both and your family. 🙏😉
It just makes my day when this notification comes. I love this family and this channel
My whole world goes on pause when your videos come on. I am so happy for you.
I’d say after finishing the front porch it’s time to take a family 4day vacation. Y’all definitely deserve it before starting the next project.
OBX
Dennis - They just got back from a 2-week vacation, bro. That should hold em for a while. Let's get on the next build!!!!
A journey like no other....thank you for allowing us in to your lives. Truly as good as it gets!!!!!!!!!!
I predict that you will hit 1 Million subscribers by January 1, 2022. I hope it is sooner! You guys are great.
Oh the stories that you keep to yourself... They are all wonderful!!!
Love it when you share a few. Man buys a Castle he is never happy.. Couple builds a Castle both are more happy than ever knowing its theirs and theirs alone. Both man and woman are happy..
Never a cold night with stars over head.
Yay...
The deck and front porch are going to be awesome when you finish. Then on to the bedroom wing. Seeing Franky with your son and wanting to ride the 4 wheeler reminded me of our childhood dog Micheal who was a chihuahua/miniature dachshund and was named after our family friend named Micheal who loved to ride motorcycles and especially dirt bikes in the woods and fields that surrounded our neighborhood. Micheal the dog loved motorcycle rides and he would go nuts anytime Dad or my eldest brother brought them out. Generally his rides were just going around the house in the backyard which had 2 really good hills and back to the front. Micheal was no bigger than a gerbil when Dad brought him home. Because he was so little he could fit in a pocket on a shirt or be tucked inside of a jacket that was zipped up and to be safe they never drove above just a few mph. When we rode our bikes that had a basket on the front or the saddle bag type baskets on either side of the back wheel he would demand rides. We paddled them and made it so that he couldn’t fall, jump out or get hurt. It was his favorite thing to do.
When , not if , your condenser fan quits working you'll have a mess trying to get the top cover off your condensing unit.
Please allow plenty of room
Amazing couple. Blessed Family!
Erin - if you are going to be using the cement mixer again, please, please, please tie up your long hair to keep it from getting tangled up in the mixer. A couple of videos back you scared a whole bunch of us with your braid coming real close to the mixed. Take a look at the comments we left there. Hate for there to be a gruesome industrial accident !!!
man thought the same thing! was nervous watching that.
that burning, brushing, & washing process is a lot of work. blessings to you for all your motivation, talents, and skills.
I love you guys! 😂 y’all have so much fun building your dream and it seriously makes everyone who watches full of joy. Keep on keepin on off grid family ❤️
Love watching y'all work so well together! Keep up the good work and keep those videos coming!
Frankie the 4 wheelin pooch 💞💞💞
Stay Happy 😂 Safe and Healthy everyone 💕
What I like the most is the way you guys work together at work
All the work on the side and front will really open up your home's access. Cool to see you using "massive" lumber to build. Excellent video again.
On 4:13 Torching the wood takes a lot of time, that's true. Put it against every 5 to 7(?) years of cleaning, sanding, cleaning and painting (twice)... (Which doesn't reach every single inch, which charring beforehand does)
Amazing how much you guys have accomplished. You have such a beautiful home. Your family is precious. Loved watching all the progress you have made. 😘🤗🌼🇻🇪
Move that condensing unit out from under the deck. If you ever have to change out the condenser fan motor, you’re going to have a very, very difficult time. Not to mention the deck is going to trap the heat and recirculate it back through the condensing unit. To put it another way, your air conditioner isn’t going to work too good and you’ll prematurely kill the compressor.
I have been watching you two almost from the start of your bill, I have and been loving every bit of it I can’t say enough about you you two and the excellent work you have put into your home for your kids and yourself It just shows that hard work and skills always produce good works you both should be proud of your accomplishments. Your jobs are always w done!!!!!!!!!!
17:49 Yes Josh, you are going to have to move the condenser on your A/C unit. It will have to be moved to the left side of your porch as you are looking at your home. You can't leave it where it is.
When you do move it, please get a heating and cooling company to do it for you, otherwise you might have a lot of legal problems on your hands.
You guys are definitely shoshugibon the rails on the deck..that gonna be a beautiful contrast...dark rails to the natural steps.....AND it ties the deck into to the house theme
I was also hoping they do shousugiban on the deck, there are Japansese structures that lasted centuries, even 1000 years, because it preserves the wood astonishingly well, and it looks amazing. But the amount of work is huge of course. Maybe they'll do it for the rails.
@@misssophie6515 lol...I see the vision
Hi from Kiwi land , Great to listen to you plan and work together. We are do it yourself people It's lovely to watch you both at it Thankyou for the opportunity of inviting us into your personal lives. Your far more skilled than you give yourselves credit for and wonderful entertainment Your children look to be enjoying it much you are we wish you all the best and will keep watching
In order not to damage wood on the reverse side of the beam while drilling it would be good to screw down another board. So you'll get neat outlet.
Exactly 2 years ago I was on holiday in your stunning country, dislocated my ankle and broke it along with fibia and tibula whilst hiking in Yosemite.
Flew back to UK,I had an operation, and settled down to 3 months off work, I immediately discovered your channel and I've been hooked ever since 🏴👍😁
What can I say, but oh my, love everything you've done to make your dream come thru and have many happy memories thru the years. Elly is a hoot. Love the ending 🤭. 😊🇱🇷
You are probably one of the happiest families in the world now, and you are helping to make the world a better place to live.
Love this look !! Has to be serious workday, Erin’s wearing her boots! LOL
100% my favorite folks in YTube land.
The ending was priceless she just stood there and kept getting sprayed in the face 😂😂. You guys are awesome
I confess I'm such a "guy". What I saw was a wet tank-top moment.
@@robertallenmcdowell That's what they were going for.
You guys are having so much fun thinking things through together, making decisions together, and building one board at a time together, I think you will be a little sad when you are finally finished. I know you are probably going to build some out buildings after the house is built -- barns, shops, sheds and so on. But even then there will be a day when everything is finished. And then Josh will say "It's no big deal." You will go out on the porch, sit down in comfortable chairs, and enjoy what you have built together. Thanks for sharing.
