    It's Dyno Day for the 2020 BMW S1000RR M!! Took me a while to actually find a shop that could get me in to do a dyno run to just get a baseline curve with horsepower and torque numbers so we have something to compare to after mods. NOTE: This was on a mustang dyno. It specifically measures power delivered at the wheel. It doesn't measure crank / brake horsepower or do any adjustments fluff the number. This is an accurate representation of how much power is actually reaching the street, which is what matters. From 15 years of experience, Micah knew what the estimated adjustment would be for different bikes and power numbers to give a dynojet estimation. For this, it was around 18%. Thus, a dynojet dyno would show about 18% higher of a number than this dyno. I don't really care. I just want to be able to compare before and after. So yeah, do with that info what you like lol

    Hey y'all, just wanted to clarify some more if it wasn't clear in the video. This was on a mustang dyno, which measures actual horsepower at the wheel. The numbers you typically see for motorcycles is on a dynojet dyno, which uses a variety of other factors and calculations to get their own horsepower number. From his 15 years of experience, Micah could give a rough estimate of what this bike would show on a dynojet dyno. They key with these things is to just understand what information you're seeing and use that for your own application. Comparing one number to the other or one bike on a mustang (or other "brand" of dyno) to a different bike elsewhere doesn't really tell a whole lot. But hey, for the peepee measuring, I'll make sure to get this on a dynojet soon as well lol.

      He's absolutely wrong about changing hp with different sprockets. Changing the sprockets changes your torque multiplier, and hp is just a function of torque and RPM. If you put crazy gearing on a bike (down teeth in the front or up teeth in the rear), it becomes much more easy to wheelie. Why? You're increasing the torque applied to the rear wheel.

    • @motonosity
      @motonosity  5 років тому +4

      He wasn't saying that it changes your horsepower. He said it has an effect on the Horsepower number a dynojet will show.

    • @isaaclarson

      @@motonosity yeah, I'm saying it should change the number. Double the length of your lever, double your force on the other end.

      The torque should change. The hp may not change because you're RPM will be different. Clarification

    Keep in mind people, whether you're partial to Mustang Dyno vs Dynojet vs your bathroom scale, as long as the same one is used once mods are done that will be the only way to truly show the results (as far as HP is concerned). Looking forward to future videos of the bike 👍

    I had my bike dynoed at AF1 as well and Micah told me that same thing about adding 15-20%. My bike dynoed at 113hp when other dynos show 130 or so. My bike runs very strong Micah did a great job. I’ll be taking my new bike to him when I gets here.

    AF1 racing is very knowledgeable and quite open about what they do, which isnt common. I have learned many of things about my bike which i had no knowledge about like air injector to compress my fuel injector for my direct fuel injection system. Like a seperate piston that is run off the crank just to act like an air compressor. Just like a shop compressor they build up water condensation thus fuel plus water equals real bad. What im getting at is i learned this all for free through the AF1 racing forums and free advice from their techs on there who actually respond. Moral ,I installed a really expensive water trap with top of the line push fit fittings and tygon line, all in 200 deep. Saved over 2500 in a purposely designed to fail Aprilia parts, not including labor. Now its perfect and runs better to. Im not sure if their forums cover BMW‘s but they sure know their stuff about Italian bikes. Im glad you went there moto especially with your dream bike. That says alot to me. Good luck with the mods, mustang dyno, dyno this or that. At least they dont pump your head up with B.S. Real world expectations

    The mechanic seems to have a few inaccuracies in his definitions. There are several types of dynamometers
    BOTH, the Mustang and Dynojet are Rearwheel dynamometers
    Manufacturers(BMW, Honda, etc) always use Engine Dynamometers
    To be clear, a Dynojet is NOT an "engine" dyno, it measures RWHP
    Engine Dynos show more horsepower because they are run with the engine alone. There are no pumps, accessories, alternators, chains, drivetrains, etc creating a load on the engine. Even a chain robs you have HP. It has give, it stretches to a degree, it has slack, etc. The chain may only take away 1 or 2 HP but add that up with all of the other engine accessories and drive train components and it can be 15 to 30%.

  • @taxi615

    So many people think dyno's are relevant. Dyno's are just a tuning tool numbers are not important at all. for example many times guy's around me oh your bike only does 190 whp but you'll see my bike kicking the living hell out of there 200 whp+ bikes. The dyno should only be used for tuning and ALWAYS go to the same dyno and use the same tuner or it's all for nothing. Sometimes talking with dyno number loving people makes a real funny and labor intensive conversation as they don't understand anything except for final numbers. My race bikes get about 5hp gains on racing oil compared to normal road oil just to give an idea on oh much everything makes a difference on a bike.
    My advice for you is try to go back to the dyno in the same conditions temp/pressure/humidity etc. if you can get those numbers for when you went try to recreate the same day after you get the ECU back to get the closest to the same conditions to get the most accurate numbers possible. One things for sure Brent will transform that bike completely and the tunes they have right now aren't even power mode tunes it's just ajustements, full throttle open and options unlocked.

  • @jhayb00g
    @jhayb00g 5 років тому

    I spoke to bren tuning regarding the flash. Its just a tune to rid of the flat spot under 9k rpm. You increase hp in the low to midrange. From what i understand, hes coming up with a stage 1 tune for the bike to increase overall topend hp.

    Cool thing about living in the future and technology. You can flash the ECU, do whatever but the checksum of the original ECU file won't match anymore. Goodbye any sort of warranty if you have to go-to a dealership for repair/warranty work. You've just voided all that to the point where BMW might not even work on the bike anymore.

  • @MillionairesDiary

    why flash your ecu before you exhaust it? Even a slip on or a conservative exhaust needs an ecu mod to re-calibrate AFR

    • @grandtaino
      @grandtaino 5 років тому

      I think the same way does not makes any sense flashing before the exhaust. I put a full exhaust and the filter and that bike does not need a ecu flash. Have way more power than most of us can use.

    • @HalfdeadRider
      @HalfdeadRider 5 років тому +1

      @@grandtaino With a full system and filter you always should get a bespoke tune (no flash). The fueling needs changing (setting up) properly as the ECU will fight against the changes and not get the full potential from the changes and probably run lean.
      Usually with just an end can on most bikes you should get away with no tune but still gain a few hp and torque, but on some bikes the cat will be part of the original end can so removing it is pretty much like fitting a full system without the lighter headers.

    I'm not going to go into dyno wars with you but I can tell you this.... On a Mustang, you can make anything you want it to read all you want. You can make a stock Grom say it makes 1000whp. To get wheel horsepower you need to put it on a dyno. Unless you have the motor out and attached to a motordyno... guess what you'll get? Horsepower at the Crank. Why? Cause you didn't use wheels to spin the dyno. Lastly, check any automotive standard. There's a reason to why Dynojets are used for records vs any other dyno. At the end of the day.... Dyno's are just tools to use. If you want to go around telling people you make 16xhp that's fine but to guess a random "18%" is where the problem is. Every mustang dyno reads whatever it wants to read, high or low.
    None the less, good video.

    Nice bike, but what's up with the channel logo.
    Hexagon = six-point star = egyptian sun worship -> saturn worship -> satan worship
    Up/Down arrows = "as above so below" = satan's desire to take the throne of heaven for himself
    Two triangles joined at an apex arranged = branding applied to monarch mind control victims
    And your name channel URL being MotonosityX...X being yet another reference to stan, the original soyboy.
    The colors, of course, but you get the point. You don't seem like the kind of dude who wants to attach himself to the losing team...come to Jesus Christ while you still can. All who repent and confess that Jesus Christ is the messiah shall be saved no matter what sin they have committed against Him.
