650ib just called you out for a smackdown. Him on his Ducati v4r and you on your BMW s1000rr. Would be an awesome race. Super fun to watch. Love your vids keep an coming.👍✌
Nice one. I think motonosity would win with his bike being tuned now even without an aftermarket exhaust. True Ib won't even put some bar end mirrors on himself.😂
Gear restrictions are lame. My bike had them in first and second, only allowing 50% throttle max. Having them removed was like somebody strapped rockets to my bike.
Looks like its way better but I agree its shame it can't come from the factory like this when you drop $25k on a bike. My guess is it would have something to do with both noise and emission restraints from Euro 4 and stuff here in the US but who knows. And I'd love to see you take on the Panigale V4 :)
Are the US emissions rules so restrictive? The Euro5 bike as sold in europe is way faster than the Euro4 bike. There’s no restrictions like you seem to be suffering in the US?
@@returnedtotheearth1326 the speculation I've heard is that it's primarily because of noise restrictions but I don't think anything official has been said.
My 16 ZX10 I just bought had cold start issues. Guhl flash. Called them and found out original owner didn’t do the fuel mapping and should of had a power commander, which wasn’t in the bike. It was driving me nuts. Shipped it out last week for upgraded flash and fuel mapping for only $30 lol. Original dude paid $4-500. New S1K is sick I look forward to seeing one in person.
Yeah I did my s1000rr and I paid 700 for the tuner device and the tune. I also had to get it dyno too, so yeah I paied close to that for 6 more HP not worth it. It rides better in the lower RPM range, like it doesn't jerk in the lower gears
I was on the fence about flashing my 2013 s1000rr 4 years ago when I purchased it used. I just did the brentuning stage 3 flash by buying the handheld unit. Watch for sales they run. I got 15% off the unit and the stage 3 tune. Not cheap but definitely worth it. Derestricts partial throttle positions in 1-3 gear and ups the redline limit. Bike runs noticeably cooler even in heavy traffic. Definitely more power. All around it's just impressive. My bike was a beast before the flash and now it's straight up a monster. Look for a sale on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I believe they usually run sales that entire weekend. You won't regret it. I regret not doing it years ago.
That restriction is strictly to meet Euro5 emissions regulations and CA/NY Smog laws which are super stringent. so much so that in the cruising RPM range (Under 9 K) the bikes max power and throttle would be restricted in that Rev range.
@Scott Matthews hey! When you do the flash you'll let yhrm know what mods you have so they can better tailor the tune for you. Their shop bike has that exhaust I believe so you should be good!
they knew that issue existed coz they must have tested the bikes before shipments, and yet they shipped them that way. Great to see you have dealt with the restrictions issues
OMG, when I saw you testing it in 2nd gear. I said oh boy just before you said it in the video. My mind and your mind was in sync. I was like. He is going to crank the shit out of every gear. You just unleashed the BEAST. And I happy to see it. At its full potential. She sounds like a straight up TRACK BIKE.
I’m also in Austin and picked up my new M Sport RR this week from Woods/RideNow. It’s an awesome bike, but the throttle/exhaust restriction is so obvious. In gears 2 and 3 everything is great as you roll on the throttle until you hit about a quarter turn, then nothing happens regardless how much more you turn it until it gets to around 9K RPM, which is my redline until my first service in a couple of weeks. My understanding is that the restrictions are all about noise, not emissions. The EU is stricter on emissions (especially the upcoming Euro5 spec) and the US is worse on sound. Hence the restrictions in the lower RPM where the tests occur, and especially on the exhaust value opening. I took it out on Lime Creek Rd early this morning and did some twisties, albeit held up by a buddy that’s not as experienced/fast. The bike feels so small and light for a superbike and handles like a dream. I have a bunch of track experience on the 2018 RR at CSS camps, and this bike is noticeably better. I love this bike and will fix its issue the way you did. I will be getting a flash/tune, but haven’t decided on the vendor yet. I want to ensure I can get it quickly flashed back if it has a major engine issue. Despite what Griffin implies, the dealer can detect the flash if they take the trouble; they normally don’t. But I’m not taking any chances if I need to bring it in for a warranty issue I suspect might be engine damage, because BMW will ask them to. I also want to ensure that changes derestricting throttle (and exhaust valve) limits don’t confuse or otherwise mess with the stabilization software (throttle limits at lean and slip, wheelie control, etc.). I doubt there are corresponding map settings that need to be set there, but I want to make sure. It’s my ass on the pavement (or worse). Just got off the bike. Man it’s hot here. Can’t wear my track suit even in the morning, and even my tour riding suit with its good airflow gets hot.
@@motonosityI would love to get together to check out your post-exhaust setup and other mods. I’m pretty much a minimalist and don’t do too much to my bike. Nothing I have fits the tiny tail, so I almost ordered a BMW 20 Liter tail bag, but man they are proud of it - over $400. I can afford it, but a gold-filled tail bag shouldn’t cost that much. What do you like? I generally don’t do exhausts. I really don’t like loud. But performance reasons might be enough to get a full system some time in the fall when I start tracking it some.
If you wait for awhile brentuning will probably offer a handheld unit for the 2020. I have one for mine and it has the original map to flash it back to stock if you want to get dealer work done. I would just email them and ask them if and when they might offer the handheld unit. Their email is Sales@brentuning.com.... Chris is the guy who usually responds to emails.
