    I have been doing Teaching Textbooks since I started high school. I am now in 12th grade. I have loved it all the way!! The order of it soothed me so much that it has become my favorite subject. The way the layout is the same throughout the different grades really helped me optimize my studying. Would definitely recommend!!!!

    If you switch from TGTB LA, I can’t wait to hear what you found! I really do just love everything that you share to us. It has been beyond helpful. I’m in a weird spot after three years of not loving everything we’ve been doing.

    We use CTC across the board here. Currently, K- Pre-algebra. That decision has been such a blessing for our home.

    We are using Learn Math Fast! What a difference. They love it. They only get hard on themselves a bit because they aren’t used to mastery based and it takes them aback when they don’t move on as quick as they think they should. I have to remind them that the beauty is , once they get it, they get it!!!!

    My grade 4 son and 2 daughter are really liking IEW's Fun and Fascinating Themed course. It stretches them but they love writing the stories and implementing the structure and style techniques. I give bonus points for whenever they use the vocab words and once they use a certain amount it equals an ice cream cone! I did Structure and Style with my older kids first and then did the teacher training and now am comfortable with the themed courses and actually prefer them to the video-lead ones (saves major time not having to watch the videos, even though they are great). Stick with it! IEW is my fav curriculum! Wish I had it that way as a kid.

    How cool, I bought structure and style also. I am going to start with the level A even though it’s under the grade level of my son. I just have some confidence issues I think. I wonder if I should have just got B. Ugh lol 😝

    Ugh Math has been our hardest to decide for my upcoming 8th grader that struggles so much with it. I cant believe how much she missed in public school and was just passed through. I was looking at DIVE but now I'm not sure. I can't wait to see what you decide on!

      Same for my son with 8th grade Pre-Algebra we switched from teaching textbooks to learn math fast system books. Now for 9th grade we found Denison Algebra and I feel this math will be so great for introducing Algebra 1. Definitely recommend looking into it :)

    I did Bible Heroes with my son when he was in fourth grade last year and it was great but very time consuming, so I can see how you didn’t get to it! We are moving to Structure and Style next year. I can totally relate to your math journey, and I really appreciate you taking into account your kids’ needs in the future/career wise. The higher maths are really needed for specific jobs, and I want my kids to be well versed in consumer math and other areas instead being sure they get to trig or calculus.

    Hi the “wing- it mama”. Im assuming that was me lol. Looking forward to what you pick for math! I mentioned the Teaching Textbooks to my son, age 9, and he didn’t seem thrilled. He doesn’t want it to be “baby’. We are going to explore today and see what works for him! What does history look like for y’all too? Also, thank you for your videos again. Always uplifting and encouraging.

    I notice you often have a journal of notes which is great- I don’t have one but I am starting to reflect on this year as I prep for next school year. I am looking for a list that asks thoughtful questions at the end of the homeschool year as I reflect on our hits and misses of the rhythm of our year (my Google keywords are not finding much). Do you happen to have a list you use to not only reflect on the curriculum (which is great!) but also on life skills, Faith building, the home rhythm, the homeschool part of the home rhythm, the mama self care, the vision statement alignment to the actual day-to-day, upcoming challenges and solutions used in the past year, and intentionality? I have searched for a good one but haven’t found one and your thinking aligns with mine in so many ways so I thought I would just ask 😊Thank you for your time and videos!! Although I have never posted, I have enjoyed watching for over a year! Many blessings~ Ginger

      @@SimplyLivingIt I watch over and over again the video you made on the things you no longer buy. It has helped me so much, I think sometimes it’s important to hear why others stopped spending money on certain things. For me, I listen and say wow…. That makes so much sense, it really clicks! So thank you for sharing, because otherwise it may have not registered in my own head lol. If that makes sense…🤦🏼‍♀️

      I’ve been looking into Denison Math also… did u start with pre algebra? Does it cover fractions well or do u think we should have that mastered before hand? We’re behind & I’m trying to find something to fill in the gaps & catch him up 😅

    • @FlowerLover88
      @FlowerLover88 Рік тому

      @@hannahlowery1022 yes , we started with pre algebra. We haven't reached fractions yet. He struggles a lot with them. I am hoping he will finally understand it when we get there. I looked ahead in the book. It only covers all the fractions in one chapter. I figure if he is still having problems I can get some worksheets off teacherspayteachers to supplement until he figures it out( using the denison lessons)We have gaps as well. I heard he is awesome at replying to emails. You could always ask. Good luck! :)

      You aren't alone there, mama! 🤪 I have been looking into the options...so far...Denison has my attention (pre-al and higher levels) and so does CTC. Each for different children and for different reasons! My oldest may stay with Shormann...but not 100% sure yet. Sometimes it is a simple matter of shifting and moving with our seasons and needs! I love that we are able to do that!!!! 🙏 I wish you all the best as you navigate this as well, with your 7th grader! ❤️

      Hey there! Yes, I did with my oldest when he was a little. It worked great for him. I don't have any thoughts on one over the other, just totally depends on style and the child! I do love, however, not having to use tiles/manipulatives with Phonetic Zoo...but that's just me. 🤪💗

      Hey! So it really depended on the week. 😃 Early on, they got their work done in 4 days... buy about halfway or 3/4 of the way through, the load gets a little heavier. It can take 2 weeks (our preference) to complete a project that IEW has as a one week writing project. With co-op and life, we found extra time to be what we desired. Hope that helps!
