- How To Remove The Battery From A Porsche Cayenne
This is the quick and easy guide to remove a battery from Porsche Cayenne
You will need a 10 mm spanner and a 10 mm metric socket and driver, 10mm 12 point (Spline Bit) and driver, T25 torx bit and 15 minutes of your time.
Make sure you remove the rear plastic covers of the seat rails first to prevent them from breaking when you lift the seat.
1. First thing to do is run the seat all the way foward and then remove the rear plastic covers of the seat rails.
2. Lift the carpet under the rear of the seat and unclip the rear battery box lid clips.
3. Run the seat all the way back
4. Slide your fingers under the front carpeted trim piece and gently lift it forward. The part that curves up and back under the seat, hooks in three spots to the main seat bracket. You should be able to unclip the piece across the front between the bolt covers and then lift it up and back to un-hook the three hooks under the front of the seat.
5. Remove the right and left bolt covers.
6. Use the 10mm Spline bit and a socket wrench to remove the two seat bolts. (Porsche recommends these bolts be replaced each time.)
7. Pivot the seat backwards
8. Remove the two front clips holding the battery cover in place.
9. Remove battery box cover
10. Using a 10mm wrench for loosen the battery corner hold down
11. Use a 10 mm spanner to loosen the battery clamps from the battery post.
12. Remove the negative lead first and then remove the positive lead.
13. Remove center battery hold down clamp
14. Remove loosened corner battery hold down clamp
15. Tuck leads beside the battery
16. Lift battery and remove from the vehicle.
17. Installation is the reverse. Use blue threadlock on the two seat bolts and torque to 45 Nm.
no bs one hour lecture. no bs music, just to the point, perfect. thank you
For someone not speaking a word you gave some very detailed information. Great video!
Looking for that same quality in my next wife. I will return the same..
Wow, you did a great job without all of the unnecessary commentary, right to the point!...well played my friend, well played!
STRAIGHT FORWARD TO THE POINT, JOB DONE, THANK YOU
Excellant video - thanks. Unlike some videos (that start half-way through and don’t show the fragile trim clips), this video takes you through the whole process.
I choose this video bc it was the shortest in time. He got to it right away without all the talking at all. I appreciated the 'right to it style' but would have liked him to liked the specifics on the 3 tools (sizes.where to get them from) used to unbuckle the battery. GREAT JOB OVER ALL!
Excellent video, thanks for sharing. Took less than 2 hours and saved me over $450 in Porsche dealer installation and excess battery cost. Worth mentioning that the bolts holding the front seat assembly to the floor require an XZN110 (10mm) Tripe Square Bit that most hardware stores don't carry, but it's available on Amazon.com.
Peer Munck thank you, I was looking everywhere for my xzn110 ...
Peer Munck yeah! And where do we find this STUPID TOOL when you need it?!?!
Pep boys has it.
I went to three tool places before I found one. €18. Still cheaper than the 1h30 drive to Porsche Toulouse and back, plus fees and the nervous thought that I might accidentally turn off the ignition on the way, miles from a charger.
next year Porsche cayanne battery location: inside the left rear tire..
by far the best video on youtube for this procedure
Thanks for this video, I never would have found the battery!
I may even give it a go
A big thanks for sharing. Just bought a Cayenne and had no clue where that battery was. Similar to the seat removal in our MB R350.
This is actually the quick and easy guide but the process isn't. Great video..
thank you - thats a great "how to" video
Your videos are great, im so sold on buying a Cayenne S now.
The best DIY videos so far. Great Job! I subscribed
Great video, thanks for taking the time to film!
HUGE thanks for the video....truly appreciated(2004 cayenne s)
The best video ever ! Thank You
Thanks, dealer wanted $159 plus lose the car for a day. Thanks again.
fundamental flaw with this design, you can't move an electric seat with a dead battery.
In common with the Touareg & Q7 there are jump start posts provided in the engine bay to provide the vehicle with power to start it or move the seat if required .
just 4 bolts and the whole seat comes out
EXACTLY!!!
Another masterful Porsche design, its utter madness, and all done
to ramp up servicing costs etc.
@@DukeDog4570 True dat, but you can't reach the bolts without moving the seat, generally.
It is possible, by the way, to remove the two rear clips for the battery cover without doing it from behind the seat, just a bit of a fiddle.
Thank you. That was very informative.
Great video, but how do you move the seat if the battery is flat?
There is 2 batteries in this car...
+Ian Davies You can connect jumper cables to terminals located in the engine compartment.
This might be a dumb question, but how do you move the seat back and forward if the battery is dead?
My father has dementia and I wasn’t driving the car much so I had put a trickle charger on it . Because of the dementia, for whatever reason, he removed the trickle chargers off all his cars, including the Cayenne. The battery is totally dead, despite trying the repair mode on the trickle charger.
If I recall, there was a second smaller battery somewhere in the Cayenne. Perhaps that’s what’s supposed to drive the seat controls? So maybe I have to replace that first.
If your old battery won’t charge you will need to connect a new battery to the jumper terminals under the hood using jumper cables. It will usually power the seats and release your key straight away.
the best "How to" ever
big props/thanks for your for putting this up to help others as this would have been a slight head scratcher otherwise. now if only the audi q7 battery was this easy
Thanks for the video and fruitful information..now I know why I have to charge labor for this hell of a work. It's actually not as bad as the Lamborghini diablos though
Thanks. Reminds me of my old 411. My only gassing battery that exploded, the seat took the brunt.
yes this is all great but what if the battery is so dead that you cant move the chair electronically??
Question...I moved my seat up but it won’t move up that far I checked to see if anything in the rails but nothing how did you get seat so far up????
That’s a great video. It’s a real process to get to that battery isn’t it?
Very good and detailed video, impractical and bad design from Porsche, especially is the battery is dead...
So is the a step by step install for the new battery and is there any special resets that need to be done after you install it?
+jedwards62 I can only comment on my Cayenne S 9PA model, I have never had to reprogram it after I have replaced the battery. I once left the car is storage for over a year and the battery was completely dead. I used jumper leads from the new battery to move the seat back so I could access the cap head spline bolts. When I replaced the battery still no reprogramming was required.
Nice!!!!!! Love the video!!!
Thank you for the video. Very helpful.
Thanks for sharing!! Helped a lot!!
Thanks for this video. Very good. Regards
Awesome video , to the point
What apmereage/power battery need for 2006 Cayene?
excellent video ....
thank you very much needed to change the battery and did not know well how to disassemble ;)
know how to change spark plugs and air filter of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 4.8 ??
pless help
thank you very much again greetings
Excellent, very useful.
it looks easy but try it on a used/abused cayenne, nearly impossible without a blow torch
Thank you so much, very nice video.
Thank you for sharing the video.
Ill be damned !! Why so complicated!!
+Victor Montalvo just because they can
Kristian Szabo boosting a dead car
Awesome video thank you. Too may naysayers, Give yourself a swift kick up the rear
great... thanks for postin'
Thank you. What a PITA.
thanks! посмотрел и передумал снимать ))
porsche cayenne ,wich modell ,diesel ..wich battery ?
Man, I thought my old Chrysler Concorde's battery location was screwy.
thank u ur video make it easye
Perfect! Subbed
Lower center of gravity than having battery high up in the engine compartment. Also there is no oil pan so the engine sits 6 inches closer to the ground. Again, lower center of gravity. It might look like an SUV, but they've designed everything to run like a race car.
Holy .. you better hope that your battery didn't die on this thing. Manual on my moms 05 cayenne s claims that there is 2 battery's one in hood and one under the seat. i thought it was easy to get to the one under the seat, man i was wrong
TheMeChaNic55 there's 2 batterys? ok ones under drivers seat...where's the.srcond battery
Anybody wondering I believe the special tool is an m10 triple square. 👍
im stuck - how do i fit the new battery
life saver , easy d
Thanks!
I need shop the battery but I don't now what battery I need help
Is why I drive my 71 c10. Pickup and still going.
It is under the seat. We had to outcast a special wrench but all is well.
крассавчик! всё показал как надо,
Why does it have to be there
Who ever decided that was a good place to put the battery may they have a bad case of the runs next time while in heavy traffic!!
Made what would have been a session of pure frustration a breeze.
I used to like Porsche but after this video, no. I don't like the idea of the battery sitting under the drivers seat. First of all, changing the battery should be one of the easiest things to do. Secondly, if the battery leaks sulfuric acid like the incident in Florida, the consequences could be tragic. www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-turnpike-hazmat-records-20160804-story.html
+FlashyTrends thank you for bringing this to my attention. My Mercedes, Touareg and Cayenne all have their batteries under the seat.
Top 🤘😷🤘
Engineering disaster , user unfriendly location sue the engineer who choose this location
WTF man! all of this to remove a freaking car battery? Our old mid 2000's cars just take a few screws to take out under the hood, next to the engine. At least malfunctioning batteries won't kill you being inside the car itself.
Handy if it is raining though :D
merci
In Florida a 3 year old girl and mother died due to fumes from batter in passenger compartment of Cayenne
I just saw that myself but ask justifiably how come she didn't notice a nasty odor beforehand and have it checked? Or drive with windows down until such time to have checked. I'm sorry but adult common sense did not come into play there. If my Cayenne has a nasty potent odor first thing I am doing is finding out WHY and WHERE.
I just lost my faith in German engineering :)
Where are all the alerts? Where's the recall? Where is the sense of urgency to stop all people from driving these cars with batteries in this location? Hydrogen sulfide is nothing to play with! WHERE IS THE SENSE OF URGENCY!! Have people lost their minds!!!
there is no need for a recall...just use the proper battery (AGM) and you don't have anything to worry about.
vorrei vedere come smontare la maniglia Esterna dello sportello dalla porsch cayenne
My battery is so dead that jump starting won’t even work
Are you kidding me? Why would you place a car battery under the seat inside the vehicle? Are there no engineers designing this thing? Or are these batteries the safe to drink type. Or safe if you get it in your eyes type of car batteries?
Complicated much?
I don't think the word simple is in these German engineers vocabulary
And you know the Germans say the word that we use in 5 letters and turn it into 37 letters
You should get paid overtime for having to deal with this BS
oh fuck that it just killed two people by this stupid design
Easy huh
You just buy a new car it is way easier
you are right
R u frigging kidding me?
OMG I would never buy one of these.
I like Porsche but that just a horrible design.
I'll never buy another German vehicle.
Unbelievable pain in the A$$
Could they have possibly made it ANY MORE FUCKING DIFFICULT JUST TO SWAP A GODDDAMMNED BATTERY OUT? Jesus bloody fucking christ.
