It was very thoughtful of you two to help Denim Dan out by carrying his pack and accompanying him off trail like that. You weren't dissuaded by inconvenience, choosing to help out a friend and not abandon him.
Hikertown is a great place to zero. Can rest if you want rest. Can hang out with other hikers. Can resupply if you need. Can get a shuttle to town. Can shower and do laundry. Hope Denim Dan is quickly on the mend. That’s so scary to have to get off trail like that. Glad he seems to be on the mend. Hope the trend continues in that way. I’m enjoying following your pct antics and adventures. I’m a codger myself. I love the trails but am limited due to some serious leg and back injuries. But I’m hiking vicariously this year through you. Thanks for posting
Sending healing prayers for that Cowboy, Denim Dan and for the rest of you. May your aches and pains subside and feel refreshed for the next steps in your journey!
You guys are doing great! Hiker town is quite a place, turned 71 there last year. Bringing back memories. Also followed your AT hike, did that in 2018 so following fellow codgers is enjoyable.
Hope John and Denim Dan make a speedy recovery! I heard Hiker Town was an old Hollywood movie set back in the day. Some real characters ran the place when I was there in 2019! What an adventure you are taking us on!
Glad to see John is on the mend, and prayers arising for Denim Dan's swift and complete recovery. I hope you all get a good rest in Hiker Town, and then take it easy on trail for the next several days. There is no rush to get to the Sierra. By the way, I'm glad you found those scissors, because it was looking like No Filter was working on a substantial beer and food filter on the upper lip. 😊 Thank you for bringing us along! Be safe; keep at it!
Glad John is on the mend and poor Denim Dan😢 I really hope he gets a clean bill of health. The four to the three, then hopefully back to the four. If Denim Dan isn't fit for the start then I hope he jumps ahead and joins you. We can't have the old Codgers splitting up. You guys are a team. Fingers and toes crossed.
Wescott makes small titanium scissors that might be the solution for keeping the pie hole clear. I don't have a mustache to trim, but I love having a pair in my first aid kit. Be well and strong, all of you!
Prayers to George. It is very apparent how all of you have become great friends....brothers of the trail. Could see your genuine concern for George. Hope all works out so that the 4 of you can hike on together.
Oh nooo!!! Not Demin Dan! I sincerely hope he is okay. Please let him know that he inspired my husband so much, we bought him a TangoZulu hat for his birthday. It's very similar to Denim Dan's. It just arrived in the mail, and it's awesome! My husband is channeling his inner DenimDan/Codger as we go out and hit the trails. Thank you for your videos. [You inspire us so much, and make us laugh]
Thought I'd pass this along. "travelinbeat" (another hiker I'm following), just made it through the San Jacinto section and is descending into Cabazon. I know you guys are not ready to go back to that but it might give you some uplift.
Interesting. I'm going to lookup his channel. Glad to hear it seems to be clearing and someone actually made it through. I think we've turned a corner in the weather, no more new snow, but it will still be very precarious trying to pass through the Sierra and the water crossings will be treacherous.
@@rkatrails Oh yeah, the sierra is a whole different hornets nest. No way the snow is going to melt till about late August. I went skiing there on July 4th many years ago when there was a high snow year but nothing like this year. Will be interesting to see who tries and gives up AND of those that try how far they get before quitting.
Hi Guys, Glad John and George are getting taken care of. I never understood why a fire truck had to come. Adds to the expense. You're doing great. A zero day sounds good. Hiker Town looks interesting. Take care.
Heh guys - we just started watching a bit ago - that is some different kind of trail. Good luck - hope everybody heals up and stay healthy. Are you guys gonna try for a triple crown at some point? Prolly be the oldest triple crown folks - cause darn you guys are older than dirt😁. Hike On!
Thanks again for taking us along on your PCT hike. L live in Ventura county and drive across from HY 14 up to the HY 395 several times each year across the Mojave desert. I had no idea how scenic and wonderful the Mojave is in the spring before the 110+ temps of July through September of full sun every summer. You are not more then a week or so from Kennedy Meadows and the beginning of the south high sierras. The high sierras in spring of 2023 is snow, snow, and more snow. The high sierras should be some of the most spectacular parts of the PCT. The JMT is incredible and wonderful.
I am enjoying seeing how your group works things out together, especially with a medical emergency. I want to backpack, but have been very hesitant to go it alone. I hope l can eventually find a couple of Codgetts to adventure with....... but hopefully not like the PCT during a snow fall record year!
A trick I learned packing out a pack to hiker town. Wear the pack front wise then put yours on the other way divide the gear in thirds. Making the front pack easier to carry. Take it easy on knocking down those twenties. Us old guys once we get semi injured or stressed have a hard time recovering. No filter treat that knee good. You are thirty miles short of 20 per cent…. Trust me I am 72 and still hikin but I don’t do the same consistent miles that I did ten years ago. You guys appear to be savvy. I want to see u at the northern terminus and I hope to meet you on trail this year when I am goin sobo. Froggy out
I was 6 1/2 miles in and had to come off trail, because of foot pain (to where someone had to carry my pack.) It took me 3 hours to hike out. My foot pain turned out to be gout. 🙄
Hoping Denim Dan heals up well and can continue; yay John is better! Haha as a female codger I can totally relate to grunts and groans while bending over to pick stuff up, etc. I also watch the Wander Women channel (awesome adventure boomers) and noticed that during their PCT hike they took time to stretch and do body-weight strengthening moves while at camp or zero-ing. They said it really helped when they felt injuries coming on. I've been doing a lot of squats and other stuff to get into better shape; noticed it's making a difference re: my attempt to day-hike longer miles. Thanks to you and your crew at home for great filming, editing and music!
Looks like a few more "buildings" at Hiker Town. $5 for a hot shower is great if you are not paying for anything else while you're there. Ya get free rides to the Neenach Cafe & Market as well and they had GREAT soft tacos. I think I ate 9 tacos . . .
@@michaelb1761 I think they're all experienced enough that they know the importance of electrolytes. Personally, I don't like flavored electrolytes so I use capsules called SaltStick. The capsules are very lightweight and I carry them in a Ziploc bag.
Hello there, armchair hiker here: maybe perhaps consider a double zero? If you are in need of funds, you can create a ‘buy me a coffee’ account. It’s a relaxed way for us watchers to help a little, if needed. Take it easy all of you 🌞
Ok, I see what you did there. When No Filter gave his intro he never said where he was, just announced his sister was supplying all the music from that day on. Then you guys hiked on. Then Day 41 (I think) you hiked into Hiker Town. I recognized No Filters intro location here as Hiker Town and could not figure why you did two long days hiking and ended back in hiker town. Turns out you took a couple of zero's in Hiker Town and that's where you edited the last few videos. You tacked No Filter's intro, recorded in Hiker Town onto this days hike video. Then you hiked those two long days and ended up in Hiker Town. Had me going there. Did Denim Dan wear himself out going for a burger that night you guys were camped, and that's why he's sick, or injured now. You do know that you can buy insurance that pays for transportation if you're injured, even a helicopter ride to the hospital and a plane ride home? Pressing that SOS button can cost a bunch. Oh well, that's it for me, except you'll probably catch up to Adventure Quencher soon, trail name Groceries. You might have run across her on the AT last year.

In the words of the Codgers "didn't see that one coming" speedy recovery George.

Do you use a drink additive that contains sodium and potassium? It help massively.
I haven't heard them mention it, but surely they're using some kind of electrolyte supplements.
