Living full-time in my rolling tiny home has been the best decision of my life. Off-Grid living offers a peace and connection to life that you just can't explain. When i first started van life i build a stealth camper van with the mindset the you had to live a stealth van life and i soon discovered that you can just live the city van life and boondock in the countryside and as long as you are respectful of the backcountry and cities you live in. Stealth van life in not necessary. Be proud of the life you choose to live, Share this van life journey with everyone. Remember Tiny Homes and The whole tiny house lifestyle is very popular and #vanlife is no different. When you don't hide it people will come say hi and ask you questions. The world is more curious than hateful. Well......Welcome to my everyday van life adventures. My name is Chrome Valdez and i travel full-time with Cruz the bulldog. Stay weird everyone and thank you for being here.
Living in a Beautiful place today man!!
Stay Positive and Enjoy the Journey!!🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🕺
There will come a time when l will be able to make my way onto the open roads....🍾🍾🍾
Glad you enjoyed your time at the cabin in the woods crazy bear seem to like it also y'all take care and be safe give Cruz a head scratch for me and I'll see you soon
💕 here's a vid idea for you. If it works, people will love it. Next time you're expecting frost/snow you'd have to scrape off your solar panels, and BEFORE they're damp,... 1) let your awning out all the way; 2) undo the legs & tethers; 3) use the poles like shotputs: throw/boost the canvas back up over the holder it came out of, over yr solar panels & even over the cargo holder; 4} go around the driver's side:pull the poles & tethers so they dangle down the side of the van; use the tethers to secure the polls so they don't flap in the wind (or put them away & tie the tethers off to the driver's mirror & spare tire rack)... Boom: you've made a cover so the ice & snow will pull back over the passenger side tomorrow w less brushing & no scraping. 🙏🏻🤞🏻
Exactly why I carry a Honda 2000 generator. 16 hour runtime on 8/10ths of a gallon. Comes in handy in the wintertime and other low solar days.
2000i?
Maybe future install something do you can tilt your solar panels in the winter. Stay safe
Have you ever considered modifying the solar panels so they could be angled to capture more sunlight during the winter? ❄️ ☃️ ❄️
My thought too.
That’s what I suggested the last video
They’re on a remote too
@@maureenblutekraus3561 he can get an adaptor for his jackery panels so the can be hooked up to a second charge controller and sit them in the sun angled for the low sun. I suggested that in his last video but I'm sure this is a week or so ago. Hopefully he considers it. He could also charge his van via the jackery and the shore power charger whilst charging the jackery via their panels.
I've seen this same suggestion in a number of videos. I've also made the same suggestion a while ago.
Chrome...just get a Honda 1000 generator to charge your batteries. Pump gas out of the van tank. Easy fix for winter camping.
Totally agree, I have a Yamaha i2000 for the cloudy days when I can't plug in. It works like a charm.
I have this one: It works great.!!! Cheaper than a Honda...

Chrome thank you so much !!!!!!!! You really make the day for me !!!!!!!!!!!!!
You must know that Cruz is really the star of this show! Good content man! Thanks. Steve...
Hey to Chrome and Cruze! I'm a weirdo from way back....Lol. Have a great week! Peace..
Consider getting yourself a tire cover for the spare. Sun will degrade the rubber over time.
2 handsome boys together, hope it works out with your batteries, you really need to stop and take a big breath, and then sort out your winter groceries and water out, keep safe, lots of love from Wales 🏴🏴🏴🏴❤️❤️
I've never been a bulldog lover.. But How can ya not love that face!!!.. Lookatem!!
Go lithium batteries as soon as possible! My lithium batteries accidentally went too low to register. I charged them and they canal the way back! I usually don’t take them below 50%. Loved your snow scene videos.👍🤠🇺🇸🙏✝️
Hi @VANCITY VANLIFE sorry to tag you but I hope this gets your attention. If you get stuck for battery power again you might want to try sitting your jackery on your front seat, running an extension cord out the window to the charger Reynor put in just before you left and then plugging the jackery panels in and positioning them so that they can catch the low winter sun. Given the fact that you mostly move a lot you probably won't have to do this often. But given the virus seems to be returning for a second wave this winter it might be a good trick to keep up your sleeve if you have to spend more time in the back country than you would like.
Give a little egg, take a little back. 😂😂😂 Joseph is too adorable.
Diggin that Back Country Weirdo❄️❄️❄️🌨🌨🌨☕️☕️☕️✌🏻️✌🏻✌🏻💕💕💕
Your panels need to be adjustable. Tilt mechanism. Angle for sunlight. Parked where you are on the mountain angled panels would generate a lot more power and might help to alleviate the problems you are having with draining the batteries!
Cruzie is enjoying the SUN under that little table!! He's soaking up warmth!!
He looks like he's saying, I'm good here Dad, I can sit in the sun & smell the smells and not get my tush wet. I can chase all the Chipmunks I want and leave my mark, when I want, on more trees than I can count. Then when stuck in traffic he so looks like he's daydreaming of his Sunny spot. lol
I give my son those wipes for after b-ball practice in the morning. He vouches for them. What a PERFECT trip. Good weather when you got there, snow a couple days, then a warmer melt day to leave. You are BLESSED! Thank you so much for uploads. You cure my city antsi-ness before I get my van. Love you boys!
It sounds like you need a dedicated stored power battery for use inside the van. Maybe a larger Jackery that could handle more editing. That way you still have the smaller Javkery for use outside the van.
God I want a camper van...! The freedom!!.... uh!
Your dog has the sweetest disposition!
They also have a no water shower cap to wash hair!!
Dude i love you and cruz. My Odin. (olde english bulldog who is very sick and possibly dying) we watch you vids together everyday. Thank you for you..My dream would be for my Odin is to meet cruz. Sorry I know your busy❤️
If/when you are done with these batteries you should definitely consider going with Lithium. LiFePO4 batteries are MUCH less hassle. First, you can use 100% of the battery since the BMS protects you from going too low. Second, they can accept a charge much faster. Third, they handle surge output much better. Fourth, they last much longer. They are expensive up front but are definitely worth it when you consider the headaches they eliminate.
@@Brian-xi3mf Most commercial LiFePO4 batteries have a BMS that has a temperature sensor that will prevent you from charging them when they are too cold (below freezing). The simple solution is keep them in your living space where it does not get so cold. Additionally, if you simply use the batteries they will tend to warm themselves. To accelerate the process, you can also add a 12v heating mat to the battery compartment to keep them just above freezing.
I love your adventures and the awesome way you treat your pup :)
Cruzzie in the passenger seat!! Made my day!! Happy Travels!
Cruz has got the life man.
Pure inspraition fam!
Good to see some snow and countryside today. I get tickled when Cruz sleeps with his butt up . So funny.show some more country and snow. We don3get it here often.
From
Augusta Georgia
Thanks
Might want to look into getting yourself a wind turbine for recharging your batteries? you can have that running 24/7 while your parked up!🤔
Your welcome.😉😁
I was also thinking if you can get a portable water turbine, as ive seen you park up near running water river's ? Im sure you could rig up one?
Hey Chrome here’s an idea maybe you could put your solar panels on a quick disconnect on one side and the side would on a kinda like a hinge type thing then you could disconnect it and raise it up to towards the sun so it can charge the batteries!!! By the way love your videos
Dang. You guys have some really nice car washes. Cruze like getting wiped down. He is so dam cute.
I like the dude wipes. I have a pack in my pack at all times
you need a ground solar panel you can set in the sun at the correct angle. Maybe your jackery panels could be used to charge main batteries?
Have fun and take care and take it easy and enjoy it
maybe get one of those solar panel stands to tip the panels or rig up a quick release system for your panels so you can take them off and put them in direct sunlight. Just spit balling. it would be cheaper than lithium for sure.
Hi Chrome, here in Sweden on all AGM batteries. You can use up to 75%, and, Gel battery you can use up to 85%. And how I know this is because I'm working with batteries. Have a beautiful day
OMG Cruzie and that lil tongue sticking out has got to be the cutest thing ever. You seem very happy. So hope one day I can find a way of life that makes me feel that way. I love your videos. Just something to look forward to everyday. Til tomorrow stay safe Chrome!! 😘
Always upbeat, got slowed down by the accident.
Didn't show how bad a day somebody else is having. Wonderful
Thank you for the Adventure today
See you tomorrow
Hey!! Winter is where you are for sure! Rainy and windy here!
Pretty funny. I just are a Dave's double from Wendy's and then watched your video. Ever think about fixing you solar panels so they'll tilt? Might be able to catch a little more winter sun.
I get you are dependent on the alternator charging, and that in the winter it is the reliable and needed solution in Canada. However, you also know from Ray Outfitted you can capture more sunlight if you set your panels up to tilt. If it can help, It seems like a worthwhile investment since you like spending time up at the cabin. I know when Covid is lifted and I can travel to Canada; I intend to incorporate tilting capability to help with the shorter days and low sun.
@ANCITY VANLIFE - make your solar panel moveable. At min make flipp up vor 35 degrees. On booth sides. It is possible to do with aluminum and then you have more pwoer reserves. Think about it and talk with an engineer.
Did you notice that when you get a pet, how they take over..... a good thing
Maybe a backup set of portable solar panels which you can set up at the best angle to catch the sun? There is some fairly cheap options available. I bought my 240W set (3 x 80W in a thin foldup 'suitcase') to charge my little Jackeries for only AU$180 and they work ok
Chrome: "Let me clean you up 'lil buddy!"
Cruz: "Oh, the humiliation..."
Hi Chrome& cruzy-bear!!! We brought home a 2000 year GMC Savannah from S. Bend IN to Sturgis Michigan that I bought for $500.00!! Its a nice big conversion van, already carpeted. My mechanic hit the dash in it about 5x, and then it ran, and he drove it home! He's replacing fuel pump today ( $160.00 Autozone). We picked the part up on way down in Mishawaka. So anyway, now we HAVE THE VAN like you said to do. We have a mini van that we drive Amish in, the camper van ... The Savannah won't be used for Amish. So thank you Chrome & and Cruze for all your hope & inspiration!!! Val & Paul inCentreville, Michigan.
Appreciate your videos which we watch most every day. I'm sure there must be a way to shorten your editing time. Do you have lithium batteries? Peace!
Maybe it's time to explore lithium-based battery solutions? You can run those down a lot further than AGM and they take solar better than AGM as well.
Beautiful camping spot. Scenery was breathtaking. Wendy's burgers here in Canada are the best. Hugs for Cruzie Bear. ❤🐶
Amazing..Thanks Chrome & Cruz 🤗
💘 the little cabin..
Have you thought about an auxiliary plugin to attach your portably solar panels to the van system. While roof panels are sdaded or covered with snow, you have a flexible power source. Very low cost.
Vodka in a spray bottle and a cotton rag works great too for cleaning skin, face
Then you can squeeze out the rag into a glass and drink it.
Bacon!!!! Love me some...just like you Cruise.😎
Cruzzie was soaking up the sunshine... LOL 😁 so pretty up there Chrome, and hope no one hurt in that accident too, be blessed and safe Chrome and Cruzzie. Love the vids too, give Cruzzie hugs for me too 🤗💖
Thanks for sharing your blessing!
A piece of that foil bubble wrap that everyone uses for their windows, a piece of that on your roof next to the solar panel, maybe it will help reflect a bit more sun onto the panels.
Also . . . .
In your travels, keep an eye out for discarded alarm batteries, you know those small black batteries that look like motorbike batteries.
Connecting a few of those into your system would not hurt and they can easily be stashed away and tucked away so that they only ever seen when you want them to be seen and they work perfectly on your heaters system.
This way you can get more batteries without having to spend wads of cash.
. . :? Now that I think about it, you don’t really need all this because you are used to not having it all. It’s really just a want and not a need . . . At least not yet :) you not spoilt yet :D
take good care
Blessings ;)
Surprised you don't have a travel Berkey to help you filter river water. It'd help you really be able to stay off-grid. Plus, you'd be drinking much purer water than you can get from the city. One set of filters lasts for 6000 gallons!
That would be my humble suggestion. I keep one on the counter at home and filter ever drop we drink even city water.
Cruzie's looking good in his Hobbit Hole at the bottom of the bed 😀 what is it with bully's & chipmunks? Ours used to love chasing them too!
😎 when you look good you feel good. Getting ready is something everyone should do in the morning to get their day started.
Awesome video. That cabin just calls my name.
It seems a simple fix would be a buy a small inverter generator that you run when your editing for 5 hours it seems your out in the woods enough you won’t be bothering anyone and judging from the look of your van your patreon subs can surly make that happen for you
Chrome, enjoyed the video but the serious bit about battery life and you allowing the batteries to dip below 50 percent.
Have you considered dropping your you tube output in particular wintertime ? We love the output from you and Cruise
I just think that safeguarding the batteries by dropping some of your output would be worth it.. Just my thoughts :)
Crack on my friend, the videos are just great. Regards and stay safe. Mike County Durham UK
Maybe it’s time to get the new m1 MacBook Air or MacBook Pro? Love the content! Just found your channel and I’ve got something new to watch during another round of lockdown. Take care!
Diesel heater sucking them Batts up winter weather no help either my guess
Just a little suggestion why don't you think of some kind of adjustable legs to your solar panels so that you can lift one side up at an angle towards the sun or tilt it the other way if necessary, I've seen something similar on narrowboats on the canals in England just a thought.👍👍
Those Dude showers work great.
2:30 looks like a catfish upside down 🙃😂😂😂😂
I could do a Baconator right now
You should think about a hinge system for the solor panels.✌❤❤✌
Chrome, buy one Battle Born lithium. It is WORTH 1 AND 1/2 AGM's. I use 3 with two 100w solar panels on my 19' CAMPERVAN ♥
Has Cruze always been this mellow when you drive? Hes the perfect dawg!
I’ve just recently discovered your videos. And I love them all, I can’t wait to get my van and start my van life in a cupple of years. Your videos are inspirational.
Liked for cute pup shots
Love these videos of daily vlogs..♥️
Oh gosh, be glad Cruzie has short hair...my Gracie is a dirt magnet with growing hair. Full baths are a must. Shes high maintainance!
Foresty brought me here.
Wow we don’t have that potato here in the US we have just a plain baked potato with you can get butter and sour cream from Wendy’s that’s it. It’s funny how different areas the same fast food restaurants carry different items. Very jealous LOL
I want a Wendy's burger, too!! Been thinking about it all day!!
When my wife & I visited Niagara falls for her 40th a few years back, we had a 'meal' from Wendy's, and really enjoyed it, far better than the crap we're used to back here in the UK. Wish they'd open a chain of Wendy's here instead of all the crapdonalds 😛
you really take such good care of cruzy
What a beautiful sight
looks like you will need to modify your solar panel to inclinate them 45 degres when you are parked in conditions like this so they could get max exposure to the sun
Great video.. always look forward to watching them ..
clean energy
I love how Cruz is so Relaxed!!! 🐶
Battle Born battery is the way to go maybe? Cruz is very cute even when he's on his back. 🤗s to u both.
He could have plugged his van into his jackery to charge. Not optimal but it would have worked in a pinch
@@thepdc6220 Yes he could hv, perhaps he did not want to drain his van battery? It's more important he can get back into town?
Bruh! You need lifepo4 batteries! I just bought two Gyll Lifepower4 5.12 kilowatt hour batteries on EBay for $1500 each. You’d be set with just one.
Hello from New York!
As long as you charge AGM batteries between 0 and 40 C ,you should be ok.
Great little spot!
U should get a hinge for ur solar so u can pull it up where the sun is thumbs up coming from me to you chrome
Chrome why not get an auxiliary moveable folding portable solar panel that can take advantage of the sun from any angle.
Canada Computers has 20000 mah power banks for 34.99 with USB C output, I have 4 of them. Not bad in a pinch.
As being a van expeditor AKA a truck driver in a sprinter type van I do Rush emergency Freight also Canadian from Windsor Ontario Canada obviously since I drive on the highway for a living I'm able to charge my batteries from my alternator which is great for me because I'm always moving but even if I was doing Urban stealth camping in a van I believe I would just charge the batteries off the alternator I'm assuming that most people work so you're going to drive to and from work that should give you enough time to charge your batteries I also get the back and getting solar panels and basically free energy for your batteries but it's probably better to have the best of both worlds all I have for deep cycle batteries is the tri-fold Marine RV deep-cycle bought them at Walmart for $80 a piece I have two batteries that burger looks pretty good
13:50 Cruzy blinks with the drum tap!!!! awwweeesooommmmeeee !!!!!
You will be ok, because you are on top of it for your batteries!
Love you two!
MommaFaye 🌺
Need to get portable solar panels, can direct them right at the sun
The Gel is looking good bro.
