The industry as a whole should focus on remaking games like this that originally didn’t live up to their potential rather than already good games but TLOU Part I Remastered Definitive Edition will probably be a PS6 launch title

@@KidAL0 wasn't that disappointed really. Just not happy that people are so okay with sub-par quality of excellence in their products that they need to fix the problems (which people bought) with a remake. And let's be clear, most people are okay with this. Just not me. I work in the industry and I don't work with this permission.

Shovel Knight 64 is the only thing I'll accept at this point.
And they should use raytracing, but only for him, so Shovel Knight can shine in all of his glory! =P
i think Yooka Replaylee is gonne be like Super Mario 64 DS in that it will propably be the same game but heavily expanded upon.
But there's gonna be some random compromise that makes it almost worse?

@@capnbug does it? When I finally got to play it for the first time, it definitely didn't feel like that. Far from it, it was an absolute joy, despite all the times I had gotten into the original N64 game. Heck, since I had seen this game first, being played by a classmate, I ended up having more nostalgia with it. And... so far, it's the only game I can say it _really_ made me feel like a kid again when I played it. Lava surfing on Lethal Lava Land, for some reason, felt... exhilarating. I know this probably would've been the same on the original, but I dunno, maybe it was the expectation that this would go really poorly VS the reality of how good and fun it actually was. Not to say it's free of complaints, tho half of them are shared with the original game, and the other half isn't too annoying to me, even including the less precise controls.
I hope not because 64 DS felt horrible to play

Normally, I wouldn't pay much attention to a remake of a game I already own, but there's a scrapped idea for the third Banjo that has got me thinking...
See, that idea would be that it would present itself as a redux of the original game, only things would happen that were completely different (i.e. a Termite Queen busting out of the mountain in Mumbo's Mountain).
Same plot and levels, not a remake, developed by Rare's talent... seeing any parallels?
Of course it could easily just be a remake despite the assurances otherwise, but they could easily have decided that the less than desirable performance of Yooka made it more fitting here... or that more of the console's audience was likely to have played the original makes it more fitting.
Either way, I wonder if they'll finally develop that Easter Egg they started back in the pre-release demo. That robot thing that initially gave the clue does nothing but say you need to wait when you implement it in the original game.
They’re definitely taking a risk in taking another shot at this game. While I’m certain this version will play much better, you only get one first impression and I hope the poor reputation the initial release has doesn’t make this dead on arrival
I find it very admirable that the studio has acknowledged their missteps and are going back to fix them. I feel like most studios would just take the loss, come up with something new, distance themselves from the IP and move on. I hope people give it a second chance when this drops
I hope they added ledge grabbing as a feature. It would just make things a lot less frustrating especially in the climbing sections where you can only jump in the original.

also call me crazy but i think there might be a couple extra worlds to round things out. there were only 5 worlds in yooka-laylee. there could have at least been 7.
That might be what I wanna see more. The world expansion idea is cool and all, but I'd rather see many decently sized and varied worlds, rather than just five really big ones. Hopefully they can take the Impossible Lair's idea of changing the worlds with what happens to the book on the outside, and find a cool way to implement that as well!
Thank you for this video! I'm really pleased to see people finally warming up to Yooka Laylee after so long! Banjo Kazooie always looked really fun, but I'm too young to have tried it out when it was new, and have any emotional attachment to the characters, and didn't have an Xbox, so Yooka Laylee was my best chance of really getting to know what Banjo's whole deal was! Frankly, I loved it!
Yooka Laylee just gets a lot of hate for not living up to the massive Banjo Kazooie based hype it had, so yeah. It's good to see people warming up to this game.
It's a fun charming game, lots of rough edges sure, but fun. Looking forward to Replaylee and all its improvements ^_^
@@NinjaSyao Me too! It's definitely not perfect, I found the big maps and placement of some of the collectibles made it a bit of a slog to 100%, but all the more reason to look forward to the remake! ^_^

What if it is a pseudo sequel? Like the plot initially seems to be a remake but capital B is aware he’s in a remake like what was planned with a scrapped Banjo-Kazooie remake where grunty knew she was in a remake. Maybe Capital B. Is trying to rewrite the story so he wins, hence the new challenges and stuff.
With the "pages" and stuff that would be such a good idea.

I LOVED the original. I know there were complaints, but I honestly feel like with future patches, they addressed some of the worst offenders (the controls in particular got better). But I am super excited to see the remake and hopefully a great sequel.
I avoided playing Yooka-Laylee for a while because I remember the HUGE hype train when the game was in development, then when it came out a lot of people had negative things to say about it. I had a copy, but I just never actually played it myself.
Seeing that they started working on a remaster Yooka-Replaylee, I finally decided to finally play my copy of Yooka-Laylee and so far it's been pretty fun. I have a few issues with the game but nothing absolutely ruining my experience. I'm excited to try the remaster once I'm finished with my playthrough of it, and seeing everything that got fixed or made better or added in.
The Rextro minigames were bloody aweful! and I hope they do a good job revamping the levels to be more cohesive rather then just a big sandbox with random themed points of interest dotted around.

I really hope this game gets a proper physical release, considering the original, or at least for the switch version, was only available for a limited time through limited run games, or something like that, so it would be nice to have
Even with the Switch Limited Run release, it's not an expensive pick up at all to this day. It's very cheap. PS4 and Xbox One got a more widespread release, so they're dirt cheap.

I have played through Yooka Laylee 100% multiple times. I enjoy the game and it does have some good elements but it did have a lot of problems that I hope get ironed out here. Based on what they have said I’m pretty confident we’re going to be some changes that go beyond QOL improvements like “Better graphics and controls”. I want to see major shake ups to things like Rextro and Kartos. Those are the two parts of the game I really don’t look forward to revisiting when replaying. Rextro especially since you have to play his game at least twice if you don’t fail.

They just need to fix the pacing and not overscale the worlds and I'd probably enjoy it much more.
It's kind of cool how they're taking a game that, although many had fun with it, still received quite a bit of criticism and a mediocre reception. Playtonic is listening to those criticisms and remaking the same game with fixes, better graphics, and added content. They are doing this not only because of the criticisms but also because of the promise from the fact that many still enjoyed Yooka-Laylee despite that.

Didn’t they say they didn’t want to remake or remastered any of their games which sparked the big controversy about banjo Kazooie and why they don’t wanna make any new games about that yep, they’re remaking this game
They also claimed their newest project was supposed to showcase a near decade of knowledge they have gained since their original project launched, only for said project to be an improved version of what they resold fans on...
I heard a lot of the complaints from the OG game came from the over reliance of Mini-games when the Banjo games rarely did mini-games so I hope they drop most of them in favor of exploration based game play.

This game was Great ! It was like a modern N64 Rare game. They absolutely nailed it ! All the complains were MAJOR clickbait bullshit. I CAN'T WAIT for this.
The level design was awful, it would've been good had it been more compact like banjo kazooie.

In Mario Odyssey, yeah there was. Yooka Laylee just felt drawn out and sluggish, there are things to find absolutely, my favorite part are the rextro tokens, but that's padded out with uninteresting design layout, very amateurish platforming environments and a lack of cohesion broken up by segmented but still very much padded level design.
I like things from this game, but personally, and it may be my ADHD speaking, I could not find a proper feedback loop to keep me "hooked" like the original banjo duology.
It's realistically a big ask to ask for a level of polish that outdoes the banjo games with such a small indie team, the fact they managed is impressive in itself, but that only goes so far when I don't find much pleasure in the product itself.
I'm sorry, but I will have to replay it now that I'm on adderall, I'll update you again and see if I manage to find joy in this platformer.

I'd love to see them shrink the world's down a bit. I was overwhelmed by the size of the empty levels thar I ended putting the game down before the casino level. It's like they took the size of the world's from Nuts n Bolts and replicated them without having a car to move around in. This change would make the world's feel more alive. IMO.
If it isn't complete, don't release it.
What are you talking about, the original 2015 game?
If they didn't release it when they did, the company likely wouldn't exist today. Sadly we all still need money to feed us, that's no different in the UK than anywhere else.
do you think they will fix the shitty world/ level design? since people’s biggest complaint with the game wasn’t the controls or graphics, it was the awfully huge worlds that felt directionless and huge for literally no reason.

I did enjoy the worlds in the original, though I do agree there should probably be a map and stuff like that so you don't get lost as easily, even when replaying, you can forget where things are quite easily lol

Im sad its not just a follow up,
the gameplay and al the things that where kinda off in the original seems fixed,
for ease, id rather seen a second game and after that a remake of the original,
im just sad that i know im gonna skip this one just played the original not that long ago
I'll pass on this one, although yes it's a remastered of a game I enjoyed back then; just wished they added more levels because 5 levels x 2 isn't enough for me.

It's gonna flop. Even if it's good, so few people will want to pay for it, me included. I don't give them credit for The Impossible Lair either - 2D games are simply easier to make and be good. There's a reason why there's a billion good 2D platformers.
I hope the game is good but it has no draw. It doesn't look good enough on the face of it, and only showing off the hub world does nothing for no one. They needed to show off severe, sweeping changes to the game (and at that point, just do a sequel instead). I don't want to be wandering around that shitty Casino again, don't care if the lighting is slightly better.
Asked the devs the same question in their channel after their claim of 'a near decade of knowledge gained to showcase a new project' only to be given a politician answer that clarified nothing nor helped anything
@@bamban_garcia5562 Yeah, pretty sure I heard they deleted some comments on there too. I'm not optimistic. Hope they'll prove us wrong but I highly doubt it's as transformative as they make out. If we're lucky it'll turn a bad game into an ok one.
