Just revisiting this video from years ago... amazing what we know now lol. Those H8000 New Hollands/Case Ih equivalent were decent, but they crapped the bed with the next series. Still think you would have been happy as well with a Massey Hesston self-propelled machine, but the JD has served you well. Those Sisu motors are actually good engines.
Sure would be neat to see another handsome Deere machine in your fleet! The company I work for makes components for deere, and I've toured 3 of their facilities. There is so much craftsmanship and pride that go into their machinery- its unreal! Good luck with the cnh in the mean time!
with your comment of the filter catching all the brass it will catch most but as others have said as soon as it is plugged it will bypass and secondly you have to remember where the brass is originating which is from the pump or drive motors so the brass is running through wherever it comes off before the fluid ever makes it to the filter
we know you Pandy , now go up to Messicks , climb in a new one , and wave as you drive off for a test run , and go mow a few hundred acres of ground while they are waiting for parts , doubt they would say a lot , because they know you will tell the world about it all ;)
That suck I know the feeling had that problem with the hyd motor in our John Deere would only steer right turns out the pistons in the pump were shot and I want to see that filter cut open and really see how bad it is or was.
I've never lemon lawed a piece of equipment before I had to lemon law my first f350 and it was a pain in the ass the heat never worked and they couldn't figure out the problem 6 months later they took it back finally and gave me a new truck. But with the cost of that machine being what it is and it only has 168 hours on it you got a strong case for turning her in
some filters have a build in overpresure bypass this prevents the engine getting too low oilpressure if the filter isnt changed on time it does mean all the dirt have a direct route intoo the motor
That filters maybe a by pass filter that means if it's cold one plugged it will by pass. Most of the crap will be in the return filters. I want the tank drained and flushed. Also you will never get the metal out of the coolers. After a few hours the filters will need to be changed and opened up to see if there is any more contamination.
I believe you mean a SISU motor in an MF, they are finish and quite widely used in europe in a lot of different machinery and to my knowledge they aren't bad motors. Anyway sorry to hear about your troubles.
All the filters I've worked with are designed to bypass when they get clogged. I think that you got a system with so much crap in it that the filter bypassed the first time you used it and the rest of the contaminants wrecked all the other components. A couple of steps, like flushing out the metal shavings after machining or cleaning all the casting sand out, must have got skipped in the manufacture. It reminds me of the old song about the made on Wednesday car.
I just traded a 2011 8060 for a speed rower 200 , has 56 hours and I lost a right side planetary , now it's sitting in the field waiting om parts , very disappointed , however all my farm equipment is deere I ran the deere w235 and liked it because the cab was like our combine and easy to navigate and very quiet , only thing that killed it was price. About 30k more but my dealership was scared of getting into a new holland and having it sit forever on the lot.
I dunno Wes, I'll bet that filter has a high pressure bypass spring in it; which means once the filter is plugged with crap it will push the filter media out of the path of the oil and continue to flow unfiltered. Otherwise the filter would explode if it got clogged with dirt.
Most spin on filters have a bypass that opens up if they become clogged so if that filter does have a lot of material in it you could have already circulated crap throughout the system.
I totally agree with y2kxj, once the pumps/motors self destruct, the system is forever contaminated. Unless they replace the whole hydraulic system, this problem will haunt you forever. I worked for a stump cutter Mfg in Ohio, we were constantly fixing pump/motor issues because of poor engineering. We would flush the system but the T275's would keep breaking down for the same reason......brass in the oil. Talk about some pissed off customers and service guys! Your call, but I would dump it for a green machine. Hate to see you work on machines and not working in the field! Good luck.
What kind of birds were scratching around in the grass behind you around 6 seconds into the video? Turkey? Or what? You raising them? Also, very important, what happened to the motherless calf?
if the oil cooler is like a radiator with real thin flues their is no flush that will clear out all the metal particulate that is embedded in the rubber line set and flues.
whats up with all the new stuff that breaks... i was driven a brand new deutz the other day, the gearlever was missing parts, so when you'd put it in first the lever would still wobble, the high and low didnt work, and when i took it for a spin the thing spewed out blue smoke and a horrible smell... nobody knew what caused it...
sorry about all your trouble! its hard enough to make hay without breakdowns! I think I could have cut hay for that many hrs with my old 472 haybine that sits out in the weather! im with you on changing brands if they don't make it right! but I bet the trade will be terrible financially!!!
I've heard bad things with the new deere mowers, a guy near us bought a brand new r450 this year and hated it, he then went straight to the neighboring new holland dealer and bought a new speedrower, not exactly sure what he hated about it so much but he does like the new holland better so make sure and really demo and fully test which ever other windrower you try out. You may have just gotten the 1 out of a thousand that ever has the issues you're having, the pump looked like a sauer danfoss pump, the header pump anyway and maybe it or one of the other pumps was contaminated or starved of oil from the get go.
Should Trade in the 8120 & the SpeedRower, buy one big 7280R with butterfly john Deeres, run the baler on the 4960 and the chaser on the 7810! there you go a perfect outfit!
To flush the system: you will need 2 new filters for the flush, one is a throw away after the flush. 1)replace the filter 2)remove the intake line from the reservoir, and drain the reservoir. 3)connect the intake to the pump to a volume of oil 2-3 times the volume of oil that is in the system. 4) the discharge of the system that normally dumps into the reservoir, is to be disconnected from the reservoir and attached to a "drain" tank. ---------- IE if the system holds 10 gallons, then you have a 20 gallon supply of fresh oil connected to the pump. You pump 10 - 14 gallons through the system to the drain tank (by starting and running the machine). (stop the machine for this part) Refill the reservoir, reconnect the lines to the reservoir, change the filter yet again. Start up the system check for leaks, add reserve oil as necessary to compensate for air. ------------- Those are the basics for a system flush.
I for one can certainly understand your frustration with New Holland over this issue, this shouldn't be happening for one and two they should be providing you with a "loner" machine while they work out the problem. I would expect New Holland to be more expedient in their response to this issue and more understanding that this machine is your life and income (without it you wouldn't be in business). I would certainly understand your desire to switch brands over their lack of concern for your plight.
BIG money lawn ornament, That sucks the machine fails with less than 200 hours, the hydraulic systems are closed and nothing should be contaminating your oil except the pump and drive debris that's failing internally. Sad day for the BB240 and you Wes. Hope they get you back in service quickly !
flushing the system you need to remove the hoses on booth sides of the filter then pump clean oil in one side under pressure there is a pump that dose this most transmission shops have this
You were talking bout susi engines, but im thinking it shud be sisu instead... Just thought i'd mention that, correct me if im wrong cuz i dont know these machines that well
Keep me posted on this , I live 20 minutes from the factory and was told two or three days for parts , really pisses me off , especially when the have another 200 on the lot the could take the parts off to get mine going ...
That answers a question why my local dealer sells new Holland tractors,McHale handlers/wrappers, krone square balers/rakes/mowers/tedders/self propelled machines and lely welger round balers. My point being no New Holland self propelled or machinery at all.
onelonleyfarmer I remember something now, was it a European tour of factories? A friend of mine went on one and visited all the different machinery factories, apparently the only entrance to one was through a red light district (can't remember the name) but they stopped at a harmless looking caffe and bought some house special cookies he told me barley anyone could remember that tour.
WTF where's the new replacement one .NH should have just brought another one straight out for you .Looks like NH don't give a fuck about there customers any more .Tell them take it back and go green .
I don't know if it was me Id start talking to JD about a trade in. The dealer might be trying to help all he can, but that don't cut it when the sun is shinning and you cant make hay. If they don't give you one to keep working id see if JD will let you try one out.
My bet is that New Holland will get this right. You correctly point out that you are somewhat of a public figure. New Holland is quite popular around here and new equipment has always been problematic but the dealer/company have resolved each issue. Hydraulic pumps are no doubt purchased by New Holland and you can bet they will make the manufacturer uncomfortable until the failures are resolved. That being said, I am surprised that you didn't look at a John Deere prior to this purchase?
If you have hay that needs to be cut the dealer should bring you something to cut it with. They have basically stopped you from doing your work by telling you not to operate it. Tell them to flush the whole mower and compensate you for your trouble. Like I said you like green tractors so I hope you will try green hay handling equipment and I hope it makes the NH junk look silly.
If you were to trade up to a Deere would the W235 machine be equivalent to your NH, aside from the all important fact that you could actually fire it up and go mowing;)
they wont outright replace the entire unit? the entire machine.... IT's nuts that it's sitting there and you cant even use it.... What a mess! I dont blame you for being annoyed. hope it works out in the end.
It must be the equipment out there here in Wisconsin my neighbor has a case diskbine and hasent had a problem with it other than bent knives and 1 or 2 turtles
Hi Wes some filters are on return lines and the crap is on the wrong side before it gets taken out. To be honest they will probably never get all the junk out that system and it's mostly all toast. I would not be scared of the Sisu motor thats the best part of anything Massey sells. They took that motor from the Valtra tractor like I run, mines got 8000 hrs and not touched other than for servicing . Basically Agco brought valta for the motors when Perkins sold out to Cat. then they stopped selling the tractors in North America . Now they are telling us we got to buy Massey tractors. Like my buddy and I said if we wanted a F ing Massey tractor we would of got it when we choose the valtras. Agco are just buying good brands using the parts they want in the massey tractor, then cutting off supply's of the other brands this side of the world, maybe Fendt owners should start worrying!. I wonder how well thats going for Agco sales with dictating what tractor a guy buys from them. Regards Robert
wes sorry your having trouble with the new piece . I know you spend a lot of money with messicks and they should want to do their best to keep you as a customer.
I agree about the drive motor comments BTW. That system is VERY sensitive to debris / foreign matter and will absolutely fail eventually. And it won't take long.
When you blow up an automatic transmission, you REPLACE the cooler or it fails again . You flush the lines, the cooler gets replace. It would contaminate more oil worth than the cooler is worth to clean it.
Wes the big dairy farm plants triticale on wheat fields for silage right after harvested and chopped once in fall then once in spring before fields tore up any way they pay man that farms my grandparents to use their fields win Win for both free fertilizer and owner makes little extra doe but I have been next to them when they mowed it they have used a couple brands but stuck with the john deere self propelled mower and it did great job lights are some of the brightest I have seen on a self propelled or maybe how they are set up my point is that crop is super heavy and the john deere does a great job it would be worth checking out and lemon law New Hollands but for that messed up machine
onelonleyfarmer read up on the sisu, they are very well engineered. IDK about the smaller ones, but the bigger ones have a mid support on the cylinder liners, which greatly reduces vibration, which is supposed to eliminate, or greatly reduce cavitation erosion. They are also very good on fuel. From what I hear, each engine is put together by a small team, and their pay is docked if an engine they put together has any sort of failure. I would not hesitate to try a Hesston (not Massey, no matter what the paint and decals say. :) ) with the SIsu, very good machine.
No I know that, but they sold him this new machine and he needs it... New Holland needs to find a solution for this problem, maybe are there more movers with the same problem
158hr is nothing. Don't they come to the farm and do a 120hr/1 month free service and check over. Its sort of like a 2nd free pre delivery service as part of the package?
It seems to me that you should ask for your money back immediately and investigate getting three mowers fitted to that John Deere you just rebuilt. This system seems to work well in Europe for both silage and hay crops.
Dan Whiteford i had one of the triple mowers on a 7930 john deere i hated that thing it was fine in light hay but in the heavy hay i do it sucked big time
I'm telling ya Wes, that's ridiculous that your NH wind rower is down with 158 hours! There's no reason for so many problems with such an expensive machine.
your big time farming now with 3,000 plus acres of hay, you need big time equipment, get rid of the rinky dink speedrower and get a John deer they have the parts and service to back it up if you need it....they will never never get all the brass out of that system
It would be nice if they had LEMON LAWS on farm equipment. Hand it back for a full refund. That many things should not go wrong in such a short period of time.
I hate to tell you this but I think your problems with that machine began during assembly some how the engine was running and there was not ,hydraulic fluid in the system and that driver pump became damaged .
Messicks should be lending you anther one while they sort this mess out. Nothing wrong with Sisu engines, very popular in Europe in Valtra, MF etc. Go local and stick with JD.
brass is going to haunt you for the rest of that machines life unless you replace every hydraulic line pump motor filter cooler and anything else that has hydraulic oil in it and sometimes that requires a complete flush of the tank or replacement of the tank
Newholland has gone down hill since the merger with CNH. I purchased a Newholland mini excavator new in 2012 thinking I was getting a American made unit only to find out it's not. Support and parts have been for shit.
That thing ain't worth the powder to blow it to hell! You had that steering issue from day one now that pump? Like you said, along with the comments, your hydro system is running on borrowed time, they'll never get all that metal out of the system. I'm sorry as hell that thing went down for you as you must still have plenty of mowing to be done.
Yeah not just the pump and motors, but the VALVES that control the thing... The header on/off should be a simple solenoid valve, (though it does speed up slowly and wind down slowly so not an "instant on" like a pure solenoid valve so it has SOME way of slowly sending/stopping oil flow from the pump to the header drive motors), but the STEERING valve-- hoo buddy that's some complicated stuff and VERY expensive... TWO hydro drive pumps, TWO drive motors, the steering valve (differential valve) and all the hoses and plumbing, fittings, lines, cooler, filter body, etc... You're right-- they'll NEVER get all the shavings out of that thing except to strip it down to the bare parts and flush and dig out everything... Later! OL J R :)
Ya know, for some one that keeps buying new equipment so you won't have down time for broken equipment, you sure have a lot of down time for broken equipment. Lol I know it's not funny Wes but if you don't laugh, your libel to snap on someone and start plugging New Holland equipment full of holes with your fire arms! At least I know I would be! How much bull shit is that? New equipment that can't go 1 year without massive failures!
Just revisiting this video from years ago... amazing what we know now lol. Those H8000 New Hollands/Case Ih equivalent were decent, but they crapped the bed with the next series.

That would even make me want to go green, good luck Wes, on second cut hay here in Alberta, 16 yr old Hesston 1340 is still running smooth
I'm convinced. We were getting ready to buy a small N-H tractor for utility work, but I'll look at something else for sure.
That sucks! That thing is practically brand new, I feel for you man!
with your comment of the filter catching all the brass it will catch most but as others have said as soon as it is plugged it will bypass and secondly you have to remember where the brass is originating which is from the pump or drive motors so the brass is running through wherever it comes off before the fluid ever makes it to the filter

Must have been assembled the day after National Jenever appreciation day.
ever look into a MacDon with the cummins?
I hope they gave you something to use in the mean time???
if the oil cooler is like a radiator with real thin flues their is no flush that will clear out all the metal particulate that is embedded in the rubber line set and flues.

That's crazy for it to just break like that with so little hours on it...... WTG New Holland!
I wouldn't be afraid of the Massey There good motors
sorry about all your trouble! its hard enough to make hay without breakdowns! I think I could have cut hay for that many hrs with my old 472 haybine that sits out in the weather! im with you on changing brands if they don't make it right! but I bet the trade will be terrible financially!!!

To flush the system:
you will need 2 new filters for the flush, one is a throw away after the flush.
1)replace the filter
2)remove the intake line from the reservoir, and drain the reservoir.
3)connect the intake to the pump to a volume of oil 2-3 times the volume of oil that is in the system.
4) the discharge of the system that normally dumps into the reservoir, is to be disconnected from the reservoir and attached to a "drain" tank.

Those are the basics for a system flush.
its a speed rower 240 sorry
Just edit the title
Thinkin about jd triple mowers to start next year hay season
I for one can certainly understand your frustration with New Holland over this issue, this shouldn't be happening for one and two they should be providing you with a "loner" machine while they work out the problem. BIG money lawn ornament,

Sad day for the BB240 and you Wes.
Hope they get you back in service quickly !
flushing the system you need to remove the hoses on booth sides of the filter then pump clean oil in one side under pressure there is a pump that dose this most transmission shops have this
Hi wes, why dont you buy anther john deere with (FL and PTO ) and run three mowers on it like the farm contracts in uk do.
Is all this stuff cover by a warranty ? Is there a such thing as a "Lemon law" for tractors ?
You were talking bout susi engines, but im thinking it shud be sisu instead... Just thought i'd mention that, correct me if im wrong cuz i dont know these machines that well

going green is the way to go to hell with new holland it should not have to have parts replaced at those low of hours nice vid
That answers a question why my local dealer sells new Holland tractors,McHale handlers/wrappers, krone square balers/rakes/mowers/tedders/self propelled machines and lely welger round balers. My point being no New Holland self propelled or machinery at all.
*only tractors which fair enough are quite reliable (i only have experience of British assembled ones)
Arwel Davies i was at the baseldon plant in february nice place.
onelonleyfarmer I remember something now, was it a European tour of factories? Arwel Davies *that days tour. Lol
Bud that sucks, I hope they get it fixed and right this time.
When you said green did you mean a deere john?
I like the john deere swathers or the Heston or MacDon
WTF where's the new replacement one .NH should have just brought another one straight out for you .Looks like NH don't give a fuck about there customers any more .Tell them take it back and go green .

good luck with it what anew machine should have not ever happen this early with it
im little confused on whats wrong with the new Holland except that's its giving poblems like lots why don't u just sell it and use ure old one
I guess your old mower missed you.
in before the 300 Club
go green wes

Damn it man.

Seems like all your new equipment ends up like this. I guess they just dont make things like they use to.
Dan Whiteford i had one of the triple mowers on a 7930 john deere i hated that thing it was fine in light hay but in the heavy hay i do it sucked big time
i did have one in 2007
for one week only i hated that thing
Wes you need to buy urself a krone big m mower. Check them out
I'm telling ya Wes, that's ridiculous that your NH wind rower is down with 158 hours! There's no reason for so many problems with such an expensive machine.
They really should replace all pumps and motors and flush all lines and coolers.
your big time farming now with 3,000 plus acres of hay, you need big time equipment, get rid of the rinky dink speedrower and get a John deer they have the parts and service to back it up if you need it....they will never never get all the brass out of that system
Why dont you start using john deere
well wes i think its about time to cut and run and get your money back
and buy a john deere one save on all the crap great video by the way
brass is going to haunt you for the rest of that machines life unless you replace every hydraulic line pump motor filter cooler and anything else that has hydraulic oil in it and sometimes that requires a complete flush of the tank or replacement of the tank
Sorry you have to deal with that . . . Rog
You need a lemon law, with only 150 hrs, they need to give your money back
go green les.....should have from the start :-P btw i am an arm chair farmer my nephew and i bolted an old arm chair on our oldest johnny popper B :-)
Sounds like they don't have anything in order there because that's just sad it's got 158 hours which is nothing just sad
That sucks your having issues with a mower with only 150 hours.
Newholland has gone down hill since the merger with CNH. I purchased a Newholland mini excavator new in 2012 thinking I was getting a American made unit only to find out it's not. Support and parts have been for shit.
New equipment just is not what it used to be.
Later! OL J R :)
Every brand including john deere is going to have there pros and cons, i guess nh windrowers is not the way to go
LOL.. Love these comments. Do some homework fellas. New John Deere Swathers are nothing more than Green MacDon's.
Get rid of it just tell them you want to lemon law it and go get a deere or a case
Man for having Under 200hrs it sure is seeping an awful lot.
I would not have that, I would trade for a John Deere or MacDon, it's not worth all the trouble to be a new machine
