Thanks for making this, Patlabor just doesn't get enough love in America!

Have you watched Bullbuster? It's what I imagine a modern Patlabor would look like. It doesn't perfectly fit in the Patlabor shaped hole in my heart, but I like it a lot

I want to see that the Ingram-98 here is actually an advanced model of the Ingram in a retro package.

I think it would be fascinating if the technology from the Griffin is actually integrated into modern labors even if it's technically a back rooms type tech demonstrator
I hope paranormal, terrorism and conspiracies are still a mainstay for the plot

the Griffin always felt out of place IMO, it's mainly made to sell toys

I think that's a bit of a disingenuous take considering that Headgear isn't just a big company like Bandai, they're a group of people who had nearly full artistic control over their IP. Masami Yuki created the Griffon plotline to give SV-2 a more personal threat rather than the political ones being explored in the OVA. The Griffon also doesn't feel out of place when you think about it either; in this world where technology and infrastructure is rapidly developing, it's no surprise a megacorp like Schaft Enterprises created the Griffon to test the limits of what a labor could be.

So i take it it's a sequel? You say reboot (unsure) while i do recognize the first screenshots from the first movie which released in 1989 i never checked what year it was made until now while listening to ost from it, this movie is a materpiece and timeless no matter what since the first time i watched it years ago. I was disappointed about patlabor the movie 2 , good graphicaly but it was less interresting plot wise to me, for me the two gotta come together, quality art and good plot or it's irrelevant to me as it look only pretty in image but the plot isn't great , it won't matter to me i cannot consider it a good movie if so. I love the original artstyle and hope they will respect it still while i know the series have more of a manga artstyle while the first movie it changed a bit to a bit more slightly to get in a realistic figure but just a tiny bit, patlabor the movie 2 goes more toward wanting to get a more realistic style while staying a bit manga, i'm just saying the slight differences in changing about the art and i don't mind these 3 artstyles progress while it's true i would lean more between series and the first movie but not that bothered as long the artstyle is respected and old themed 80s/90s and the plot too ( staying in track). I tried to watch the third movie and got confused on how it has became an horror movie....the plot seemed maybe interresting but why horror themed and kinda strange so i'm not sure at all lol, none could beat the first movie, i don't ask that the new patlabor that it be a series or a new movie incoming but just that it will be as good/great as the first movie.

"Unless you're japanese, we barely know anything about Patlabor EZY whatsoever"
Seems like it's staying that way, halfway through the year and yours is literally the only video on the topic I can find. The only other info I can find so far is a japanese only interview from 2022 where the director gives out some very vague answers.

I can at least attest that there are some recent revelations in regards to the project that I've come across in the last couple of months. Coming across it is a lot more of a hassle than it should be, and it could generally be blamed on Headgear's strange way of relaying information (members like Izubuchi or actors like Chiba just bringing things up spontaneously at events, yet not having any of the information displayed on their websites or social media.) Anyways, here is everything I know:
(From a talk show from Izubuchi at an event held in Tsuchiura)
・Today's anime standards require high quality, so it's taking time.
・It's starting to be fun, so I think it will be good. I hope you look forward to it.
・Production was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but during that time, talk arose about how the film needed to address the COVID-19 pandemic, and Izubuchi decided that this was not the case and took on the role of director.
・It seems that the voice recording has not been done yet (based on a conversation with Chiba). Some of the cast members have passed away, but some of the previous members will also be appearing.
・Times are changing, so the protagonists are changing. In The Next Generation, Oshii portrayed them as unmotivated young people, but in EZY, they are doing their best as young people.
・The original Patlabor scenario had a budget that meant the labors wouldn’t move, but this time they wanted quality. Its a little difficult to have labors move as mechs in other anime do, as Patlabor is a lot more grounded and realistic and requires a more grounded method of movement.
The rest here are just other tidbits of Information I picked up along the way:
      Directed by Yutaka Izubuchi
      Script by Kazunori Ito
      Music by Kenji Kawai
・The *earliest* release is scheduled for the end of 2024.
・The animation company working on EZY is Genco (Pluto, Konosekai)
・Broadcasting time is listed on Genco's official site, which *implies* it could be a TV series
Thats all I can tell you as of right now, EZY's production is still an elusive topic even in Japan, so we're all just going to have to hold out for now. Everything I've stated so far is based on this:

@ProtoMekka I see you've been doing a good job at sleuthing, I haven't heard most of this. Also I figured that they might shoot for a Winter 2024 release so as to keep the original release date but also squeeze more production time.
