Loved this show. All the actors were great....BUT Michael J. Fox carried the show. He is an phenomenal actor it breaks my heart to see him in his condition now!
The fictional Alex P. Keaton was an attempt by the show's liberal producers to ridicule conservatives. He was chauvinistic, pompous, and worshiped money. (But ironically was atheist) While his parents were 60's hippy liberals. The producer's plan backfired in the long run, as Alex P. Keaton went on to become one of TV Guide's 50 Greatest television characters of all time. While the careers of Meredith Baxter and Michael Gross went nowhere.

@@Horus175 Okay, maybe he was more successful than I thought. Great show for the times and I loved watching it growing up. Somehow I think the sitcoms and tv shows were better back then. People had patience to follow stories rather than the instant click bait we have now.
Indeed, it seems that everything has gotten worst, and I am sure it is not only my memory playing tricks on me through rose-tinted lens or bemoaning the loss of my long-gone youth.....

watching this episode as kids (re-runs, obviously, I'm not that old!) in a country on a different continent to the USA, we thought we were doing something really naughty... and it still astounds me, the cavaliere attitude Americans had to powerful prescription pills - still illegal in my home country - that are chemically identical to street speed/crank/amphetamine!
