6:58 the "Keep Calm and Carry On" was originally from the U.K during the blitz in WWII and they wanted its citizens to remain calm and keep on doing their regular routine.
actually though it never got released to the public except for a few copy so it never actually got popular or even marked from world war two, Bit then in present time a family found it in their basement and started selling them and they grew more popular by the week
It wasn’t exactly six months ago but it wasn’t January. I know because I fell victim to Stanley cup. It was on my Xmas wishlist. 😕 I was making my wishlist tho like November 8th, so Stanley cup trend started November (maybe October)
For the rainbow looms we called them loom bands and I remember how girls went head over heels to buy as much colours as possible and the guide book to create them, there was one guide that would legit have u create A BAG, like I ain't got time for dat
In middle school, I founded the Dab police, where we were a Militaristic police group of like, 30 people who "Arrested" people who dabbed, and publicly shamed them during lunch. The Lieutenants and higher of the Dab police even had meetings inside the janitorial closets, where we discussed the status of the dab.
For me, the years 2016-2018 was such a weird, but fun time. So many trends like dabbing, fidget spinners, and bottle flipping. Plus there was a rise in the "reaction" channels which I believe made those trends popular. Then that's where Fortnite started too and everyone and there mother was talking about it. Kind of surprised he didn't mention it in this video.
The trends I remember the most is the water bottle flipping challenge, chubby bunny challenge, fidget spinners and Pokémon Go and Hoverboards and killer clowns and flappy bird
Omg so I have a story... When I was six years old, when I took my dog for walks, at one particular spot on the sidewalk I saw in black paint just "damn Daniel...", and I never knew what it meant... until now! It's still there to this day lol
That S has been around for a long time, not sure I'd call it a trend, it was already old when I was doodling it in elementary school in the 00s, we called it the "Superman S", even though it looked NOTHING like the actual Superman logo. So many of these other trends I remember as well but half-forgot about, like Pokémon Go and Gangnam Style, I still have my fidget spinner that I bought when I was in college (I keep it in my purse and sometimes take it out for a minute at work, usually I get "oh, I remember those" type comments). I remembered Vine but totally forgot about "Damn, Daniel". Totally agree on the uselessness of spending a lot of cash on junk. I go the opposite route, I buy a lot of high-quality or luxury stuff that's on clearance or used (I can get amazing discounts for stuff with inconsequential cosmetic damage, like a pair of sunglasses with a minor scratch on the parts on the side that go over your heads). I never got into Flappy Bird, never found it all that enjoyable. Ohhhh, totally forgot about the whole YOLO thing. It wasn't that big in my high school (since we live in a rural area that isn't affected by trends like that) but I remember it was online everywhere and I remember videos ranting about it. Oh those hands-free Segways, I still maintain that those are not hoverboards no matter what they want to call them, to me a real hoverboard actually levitates like the one in Back To The Future 2. Here's a random one I just remembered "but then I took an arrow to the knee", it was funny the first 500 times but then it was like "come on, there's gotta be something better to make meme comments about". PS: "Keep Calm And Carry On" was a British WWII poster displayed during the Battle Of Britain reminding everyone to just go about their daily business, the whole British "stiff upper lip" thing.
@@Heisenberger_69 its sumthin w/ how you perceived the shadows and ambient light. i think its gold and a kinda bluesish white, but it is really black and blue somehow
Silly Bands and Rainbow Loom were banned at my school for being “too distracting” because we would trade Silly Bands (I would usually buy a pack of common ones and trade several of those for one rare) and I started a business making Rainbow Loom bracelets for my classmates. (Fun fact: The most popular order was “double-triple rainbow”, which was a rainbow bracelet with three rows reinforced with two bands in each slot instead of just one.)
Legend says that the Gangnam Style song is stuck to everyone's brains that it'll make them yearn for the better days (It's a Korean song). And the whole "friendship bracelet" (Silly bands? Is that what they call it?) trend is actually on strings (Personal experience, may not apply to all)... which means pattern-making is PAIN. And the "Super Hot Fire" was not just used for the satire... The sound lives on. All I get is that anyone just wants to fit into the bandwagon... no matter the trend. I only live for the nostalgia.
At school, one time, I found that Teresa and Rodrigo (translate them with Portugal language because I’m in Portugal :/) were doing a challenge with bottle flips, the rules were simple, here they are: “ whoever gets 5 bottle flips first is the winner! Btw every time, even if you didn’t do it or did, every time you throw and it didn’t land or DID, the next person does it” -Rodrigo
I remember having a fidget spinner contest in my 3rd grade class, basically who could spin theirs the longest. I remember winning that day so that was epic. I also remember how MLG / Illuminati Confirmed was my favorite meme and I went crazy for it as a kid
In retrospect, it’s fucked up that fidget spinners got banned at my _special ed_ school for being a “distraction” because one specific kid (who had ADHD, mind you) kept using his in class.
Bit of a nerd here, but the term "keep calm and blank" comes from England, where a libraryan found a propaganda poster for brits during ww2. that said, keep calm and carry on. The libraryan found it remodeled it and put it in her library. People saw it and posted it on social media, and then some people altered the phrase however they wanted.
I see the dress as white and gold, but if you want to see it as blue and black, close ur right eye, focus ur left eye on the dress, and turn your head to the left until the dress is almost out of your sight
3:40 Untrue. My own creepy clown sighting took place on Halloween night 2016. My friends and I were out trick-or-treating and encountered a grown-ass man in a creepy clown costume on the street.
I actually still have a fidget spinner, it resembles a flower because it's pink and the 3 sides are in the shape of a petal and the middle piece is green
I had totally forgotten about the clowns. Now, they are in my brain again. Thanks for that.o.O Also, I had a trapper keeper when I was young, way back in never you mind! lol What goes around comes around, I guess.
Story about the clown one: once when I was a kid in 2016 I woke up and I looked out my window and I saw a mask which looked kinda weird I rubbed my eyes still there I did it again still there then I went and slept in my parents room for the rest of the night
