It's sad how the magic of Christmas just slowly fades away as we get older and mature more. Really the magic of a lot of holidays just goes away after a certain age.
@@intrstn I'm 16 and this kind of hits. I'm a happy person but the holidays feel way different vs when I was in elementary / early middle school. I still love it as I have a secret santa thing my family does and I go to my grandma's for christmas eve and get to open presents w/ my cousins and stuff but you can't deny it changes as I get older.
For me, the magic started to fade away at age 10 when I got sick the entire month. Since then, every year, something terrible would always happen and some of the festivities would always get ruined. This year is no exception. I haven’t seen a white Christmas since that year when I got really sick. That’s why I’m a Halloween girl now.
When I was younger, I used to get so excited for gifts, it would be hard to sleep for like the whole week leading up to Christmas. The gifts was what made the season for me back then. Now, I appreciate the whole season more. The music, the outdoor Christmas displays, the movies and specials, the treats, the overall environment. The whole Christmas atmosphere is what makes makes me happy for the time of year today.
As someone who’s now eligible for buying my family Christmas presents, according to my mom, I can definitely vouch for you and your claim of gift giving being underrated. It always feels so heartwarming seeing someone happy with something that you bought for them with your own money. You just feel like such a appreciated and good person after doing that. 💖
As a kid born in a very poor family this is my Christmas experience... So me and my older sister always used to have a max budget of 20€, because our parents used to say "Santa can't make on the workshop all gifts so he has to buy some of them. Lets help him out", Until I was 11 and my sister was 14, then she didn't allow us to ask Santa for gifts at all. The same reason plus "I don't think Santa believes you were too good of children so don't make him change his mind, if he brings gifts for you two, they will either be something cheap, thoughtless or charcoal. I loved Christmas as a holiday but this was something that was annoying.😢 And for anyone wondering, Santa would bring us gifts, usually like a small chocolate bar and like a small figure... It was better than nothing but still...
As a idek what class im at id het things like bubbles and stuff just...small toys i used to be jealous of my cousins when they got everything they wanted and h had almost nothing plus they stopped giving me gifts at all when i turned 8 that sucked thr joy outta christmas for me id be on my bed jst crying ANYWAYS YEA- i hate Christmas tbh never had a good one i was always just jealous even a barbie doll wouldve made me happy
I feel like the feeling of not knowing what to ask for is so relatable as you get older. Once I started getting my own money, I would just buy what I wanted to buy throughout the year instead of having to wait until Christmas to get the next Mario game. This was such a relatable video! Nice work!
My 5th grade teacher (best I've ever had) was into guitar and woodworking, and he made everyone in the class a custom guitar ornament. That one goes to the top every year.
Man, the day before winter vacation at school was always tight. My favorite was sophomore year, all of us in JROTC got permission to take over the spare gym and have a Christmas party the entire day with food, Xbox360s, Wiis, board games and movies. So much fun man.
In Arizona a white Christmas is like goddamn Bigfoot, it doesn't exist. But even still, going to the mall at night to shop for gifts, in the cold with a hoodie, then getting white hot chocolate and sugar cookies and looking at Christmas lights is a vibe and tbh one of my favorite parts.
I completely agree that giving is underrated. I *love* giving gifts! I’ve already sent gifts to a few friends in my Discord server and one of them called me Santa earlier today. I love making my friends happy! Oh, and I even gave my therapist a handmade gift! She loved it! I’m waiting until Christmas Day to give my family gifts, but it’s so hard to wait. I’m so excited to see their reactions!
The 5am bit is SO ACCURATE!! I remember that quite well haha. Those were the days…nowadays tables have flipped and it just feels awkward asking for anything.
I remember as a child I would get upset about taking down decorations cause they look so nice and really made the place vibrant. Nowadays, it is what it is but its still tedious as hell.
I remember Christmas as a kid, getting stuff like legos and a PS2, but it’s really different these years, and now I don’t even know what I want. Btw love your vids!
I feel bad for ya’ll I live in Iceland and Christmas starts on Christmas Eve and lasts 13 days all they way past new years to January. Can’t imagine having Christmas for 1 day and 1 day only.
I want unlimited cookies and milk for Christmas, because I could make Santa fat and unable to go through the chimney and then steal every present of the world... jk Great video Burdie!
Bro I remember in preschool and middle school we used to have Christmas parties but at the end of high school for me it was like any other day with work and then the class would watch Christmas movies.
When you said that putting up the decorations and taking them down again being a tedious process, I agree 100% and also, don't be sad it's over, be glad it happened, no truer words have been spoken.
I don't remember crying too much whenever I didn't get what I wanted. But I do remember whenever I do cry. I was so cute that everyone would feel bad for me even if you hated kids And people always end up trying to Make it up to me when Ever I cry and I always kind of feel bad for it.
