It's sad how the magic of Christmas just slowly fades away as we get older and mature more. Really the magic of a lot of holidays just goes away after a certain age.
@@intrstn I'm 16 and this kind of hits. I'm a happy person but the holidays feel way different vs when I was in elementary / early middle school. I still love it as I have a secret santa thing my family does and I go to my grandma's for christmas eve and get to open presents w/ my cousins and stuff but you can't deny it changes as I get older.
For me, the magic started to fade away at age 10 when I got sick the entire month. Since then, every year, something terrible would always happen and some of the festivities would always get ruined. This year is no exception. I haven’t seen a white Christmas since that year when I got really sick. That’s why I’m a Halloween girl now.
When I was younger, I used to get so excited for gifts, it would be hard to sleep for like the whole week leading up to Christmas. The gifts was what made the season for me back then. Now, I appreciate the whole season more. The music, the outdoor Christmas displays, the movies and specials, the treats, the overall environment. The whole Christmas atmosphere is what makes makes me happy for the time of year today.
As someone who’s now eligible for buying my family Christmas presents, according to my mom, I can definitely vouch for you and your claim of gift giving being underrated. It always feels so heartwarming seeing someone happy with something that you bought for them with your own money. You just feel like such a appreciated and good person after doing that. 💖
I feel like the feeling of not knowing what to ask for is so relatable as you get older. Once I started getting my own money, I would just buy what I wanted to buy throughout the year instead of having to wait until Christmas to get the next Mario game. This was such a relatable video! Nice work!
As a kid born in a very poor family this is my Christmas experience... So me and my older sister always used to have a max budget of 20€, because our parents used to say "Santa can't make on the workshop all gifts so he has to buy some of them. Lets help him out", Until I was 11 and my sister was 14, then she didn't allow us to ask Santa for gifts at all. The same reason plus "I don't think Santa believes you were too good of children so don't make him change his mind, if he brings gifts for you two, they will either be something cheap, thoughtless or charcoal. I loved Christmas as a holiday but this was something that was annoying.😢 And for anyone wondering, Santa would bring us gifts, usually like a small chocolate bar and like a small figure... It was better than nothing but still...
As a idek what class im at id het things like bubbles and stuff just...small toys i used to be jealous of my cousins when they got everything they wanted and h had almost nothing plus they stopped giving me gifts at all when i turned 8 that sucked thr joy outta christmas for me id be on my bed jst crying ANYWAYS YEA- i hate Christmas tbh never had a good one i was always just jealous even a barbie doll wouldve made me happy
My 5th grade teacher (best I've ever had) was into guitar and woodworking, and he made everyone in the class a custom guitar ornament. That one goes to the top every year.
In Arizona a white Christmas is like goddamn Bigfoot, it doesn't exist. But even still, going to the mall at night to shop for gifts, in the cold with a hoodie, then getting white hot chocolate and sugar cookies and looking at Christmas lights is a vibe and tbh one of my favorite parts.
I remember as a child I would get upset about taking down decorations cause they look so nice and really made the place vibrant. Nowadays, it is what it is but its still tedious as hell.
Man, the day before winter vacation at school was always tight. My favorite was sophomore year, all of us in JROTC got permission to take over the spare gym and have a Christmas party the entire day with food, Xbox360s, Wiis, board games and movies. So much fun man.
Exactly. I used to LOVE how chirstmasy with the weather and all and now it barely snows and I feel bad if my family got me anything not practical like videogames and all. I'm grateful for a heated blanket, clothes and gift cards.
I completely agree that giving is underrated. I *love* giving gifts! I’ve already sent gifts to a few friends in my Discord server and one of them called me Santa earlier today. I love making my friends happy! Oh, and I even gave my therapist a handmade gift! She loved it! I’m waiting until Christmas Day to give my family gifts, but it’s so hard to wait. I’m so excited to see their reactions!
The 5am bit is SO ACCURATE!! I remember that quite well haha. Those were the days…nowadays tables have flipped and it just feels awkward asking for anything.
I remember Christmas as a kid, getting stuff like legos and a PS2, but it’s really different these years, and now I don’t even know what I want. Btw love your vids!
I don't remember crying too much whenever I didn't get what I wanted. But I do remember whenever I do cry. I was so cute that everyone would feel bad for me even if you hated kids And people always end up trying to Make it up to me when Ever I cry and I always kind of feel bad for it.
I can totally relate to you. When I was younger, I was ecstatic for christmas, but now I am on my last year of high school, i am not very ecstatic no more. Its only a week and a half away and there is no tree up in my house or anything.
The fact that a lot of holidays seems to fade away slowly every year, this year I actually forgot that it’s Christmas tomorrow 💀 It doesn’t feel like Christmas 😔😕

Back then, kids like me had a Christmas toys catalog and we would've write down a Christmas wish list with the things we wanted from the catalog, and then write to Santa. We don't do that anymore sadly. 4. Teachers putting Christmas movies in class. We had not only The Polar Express. We had Home Alone and Elf. Oh and they would've put on Garfield at one point. 5. Christmas Stage Show. Yep,we used to do this for school around Christmas time each year. We would practice and sing a Christmas song on stage in front of everyone. Nowadays, only little kids are allowed to do this while grown ups can't. 6. Taking a drive simply to go see Christmas lights. This was really fun. 7. A lot of things you said in the video goes the same for me. 8. The feeling of hearing the last bell ringing at school and all the kids starts to To overjoyed in the hallways singing when School was over. 9. Snowstorms. Back then, these used to be so fun and you can play outside during them, having snowball fights. Plus staying home from school. Nowadays, snowstorms are risky and you can't play outside anymore. I remember one time at school,it was cold as heck outside, and the teachers forces us to go play outside anyway. We were left so damn cold. And when we went home feeling sick, our parents would make chicken noodle soup, give us ginger ale and put the tv on. This was our remedy back then. 11. Christmas calendar. It was a fun popular thing back then. It was like counting down the days, but each day you get chocolate. I wonder if people still do this. I know that I,myself, still do it. 12. Gingerbread house. Similar to making gingerbread cookies, wevwould make a gingerbread house. Heck, you can even do it with kitkats. This was a tradition. 13. Secret Santa. Here in Canada,we call it Gift Exchange. 14. Meeeeeee but it hasn’t snowed in like two years so now it’s just cold and windy with no snow so my favorite part of Christmas, which is the Christmas atmosphere is not there :(
Yes I love Christmas presents, just like any human being I'd be lying if I said no, but as I grow older I find being with your family or your adopted one be it friends or whatever, your people, your flock that bring you happiness and share same interests and there's no drama, just naturally get along (like me being autistic I flock to people that are too apparently and share similar interests to mine) is what matters the most. Particularly like me if you have been homeless or just struggling as many are financially at present.

I’m 27 and still love Christmas. I think I get more excited now than I used to
I don't let my Christmases be less boring, I still do Santa Tracking even as a teenager which is exciting

I love how this guy is so relatable
