My psychology professor taught us something similar a few years ago. He had us number off parts of our body in a logical order (For example, #1 toes, #2 ankles, #3 shins, #4 knees, etc). Then he gave us a list of twenty completely random unconnected things. To this day I still remember the list. The technique was to imagine that particular body part was bizarrely connected to the item. For example, #4 was a gun, so I imagined my kneecaps opened up and could shoot bullets out of them.
@Monica - It's easy to find more information on Andi Bell. Google it? You find it on Wikipedia. You find an article on the Memoteq Community. You find his personal website etc... Easy!
wikipiedia works fine to, herigone's system works to. The replacement of a well known route is replaced here by an array of already memorized objects mapping to certain numbers.
Interesting thing is, I learned about this technique (which is called the technique of Loci) in two different classes this semester. But I'm not good at using it.
in my pov its not necessary to follow this method..there are many memorizing methods..pick one that suits ur memory...some people memorize melodies like me...BUT get the main idea behind memorizing which is linking and associating things together ;D
No way. You can do this to. Google @ the loci method -> link method --> story method...And google for Dominic O'Brien. If you practise everyday, you can become a good memorizer.
yeah but kim peek isnt 'normal' this guy is and has his own technique, yeah he wont be able to remember as much as kim peek but theyre different from each other
I know this technique.. is not very hard I can remember a deck of cards after 3days I learn this technique First each number is linked to a picture.. i know 100.. u just need to memorize this but for master like him he should have 1000 or more then put them into places. let say number 1 is a ball. then u place the ball at the door in ur room in ur mind. and so on..... then ur desk, bookshelf etc..
@radnev007 It is not, i can remember about 1000 cards in any order with about two seconds on each card. and if you want to know were i got this skill go to this website. Pmemory.com
exactly not, didn't you listen? even you could do that with this technique and a bit of exercise, that's not his brain that does this, it's the method (and the brain but you know what i'm saying)
@radnev007 this is not hard isso fun my father even teach this to a 6 year old girl that girl can memorize 50 states in 5 minutes pm for ure questions :)
I've got a totally useless memory! I scored 2 / 15 on a Child Genius memory test, The bottom 15%! I hate all this intelligence SHIT!!! I am NOT clever! And I never said I was! I like oak trees!

Great video - these techniques can be used to memorize lists of anything.
Totally rad! I'm working on this, but haven't perfected it yet. I have one-hundred people numbered, but no verbs yet, or objects yet.
Wonderull Video, you are doing a great job, could you please give some more Examples.
loved what he said at the end.
that's pretty cool. you are doing a great job

Easy!
this same method is also used by some blindfold cubers especially when blindsolving multiple 3x3 cubes, 4x4, and 5x5 cubes.

@hermotsura I agree. the principles are simple, but I think the complexity of the terms is what throws people off.
it's a pity Andi Bell never did any independent memory videos
Interesting thing is, I learned about this technique (which is called the technique of Loci) in two different classes this semester. But I'm not good at using it.
@JamesShottyBoi It's called 'Poing' by Rotterdam Termintaion Source.
@radnev007 not that long once u did it at the firstime u can easily memorize every time u did it ure memory improves its fun to do :)
This is amazing,,, Can anyone refer a book or video which teaches this Technique in detail..
Ican
It's hard, but its possible. I try I remembered 52 cards with like 5 mistakes(I forgot the order of cards in one picture). he is amazing
36 decks in just over an hour is the record-that's the time to memorize them.
in my pov its not necessary to follow this method..there are many memorizing methods..pick one that suits ur memory...some people memorize melodies like me...BUT get the main idea behind memorizing which is linking and associating things together ;D
You can use it for anything, the more powerful your imagination the better.
@Equivicae
but how do you not get the sequences from the past not mess up your current sequences? i would get confused .....
Can we use the same route/locations over and over again for different subjects?
he is a true genius
how can this work with Math or Science or Social studies subjects like that?
I want to know more information about memory.
Can someone tell me how I could apply this technique in school? It's not like I would be memorizing random deck of cards.
the point is how can him link between informations and objects (pictures)?
i mean informations not numbers
can i use this for maths physics, biology...... history and so forth?
What system would you use to find out what card is missing from the deck?
I'm sure he did well in school
Technique works. My video on the mnemonic major system works too. It's on my channel
It, like most things, is a matter of practice. You'd probably surprise yourself if you tried.
you shoudl read "mooonwalking with einstien" by joshua foer
Andi Bell stopped going for the Memory Championships, I suppose

PORTUGUÊS BRAZIL.. legendado em breve? :)
Maybe if you have to remember some vocabulary words, you can walk around your school as you try to study them?
I use 3 days to learn the technique, not to memories the deck. I use about half an hour or less to remember the deck
right when the person started talking in the biggining, thumbs up if you thought it was somebody else
yeah but kim peek isnt 'normal' this guy is and has his own technique, yeah he wont be able to remember as much as kim peek but theyre different from each other

@radnev007 this is not hard isso fun my father even teach this to a 6 year old girl that girl can memorize 50 states in 5 minutes pm for ure questions :)
3 days for a deck... he did 5 decks in 20 mins. 3days for a deck is nothing. I could do 52 cars in like a hour tops.
I don't understand the technique...
Dominic O'Brien..
You can definitely use it for maths and physics. You just have to use your imagination :-) .
school must be so much better for guys like these lol, sigh
Damn this guy makes me sad.
Its takes me 20 min to remember 2 decks.
im not saying its aliens....but its aliens
Not the dirt Biking Andy Bell.
