It's a shame creative pieces from smaller animation studios like this don't get more attention. While the story doesn't really grab me, the animation style is really unique and intriguing.

One of the greatest animations with a decent plot I've seen in a long time. I'd be so happy walking out of the cinema watching this movie. Incredible.
I forgot how much I loved this film, very underrated tbh
The story, the theme, and the animation looks wonderfull but the characters personalities are just like every other movie:
One head character that's weak and not cut out for the job untill he "believes" in himself
One strong not so smart character that everyone loves untill the end when the head character rises
One female character that impresses the males by just getting to buissnies and at atleast one point needs to be resqued because she's weak.
one evil chararacter that just wants darkness and doom and to control everything
aaaaaaand one goofy, dumb side kik-like creature with a funny accent that annoys everyone but brings happyness to the characters.
I'd say that sums up 80% of all animated/pixar movies ever made.

Who cares? The public wants free bread and gladiator fights. Err... I mean a song, a dance, and a cute animal sidekick. Clever men with stopwatches studied the responses from the audience and figured the best sequneces and timing to squeeze most money from ticket sales and merchandise. Who cares if the movies all look similar - the public just eats it up as it is. If you want cartoons with a soul, watch japanese or russian cartoons instead of those made in america.

StreetGerbil Technically those stories do fall into the seven stories *in all of fiction*. It refers to how there are recurring parts of narrative that are used in every form of fiction from classic literature to recent movies. The classic list (which I prefer) is:

7. man and woman
A more modern interpretation is:
1. Overcoming the Monster
2. Rags to Riches
3. The Quest
4. Voyage and Return
5. Comedy

Break it down and those movies you suggested still have traits of the seven stories.

I dont know, guys... The animation and character design look amazing, but the plot and the personalities of the characters seem to be the usual. A main character not ready for the adventure, a strong dumb but in some way clever guy, a smart girl...
But I will give it a chance for the animation, its just a trailer so I cant judge
Pam Weasley Idk, from what I understand even if it's the cliche kinda thing, its all about the enjoyment of the film. I think this movie has some potential, as long as they don't put in a lot of pop culture references. (and I don't mean just the songs) The last we need is a film that has any of those. We needed a good fantasy movie and this could be it.

As a writer and digital artist myself, it's very hard to come up with something completely unique but it's easier said then done, especially in films and literature. Average people can say it as if it's easy and it's not, especially on how to fit the characters with the plot.

Keep in mind this trailer is geared for kids, I watched it with all adults and we loved it.
I'm in love with the art, and the seeting, I like the world and the idea. Not too shure about the plot, it's kinda of weak and repetetive but I'm going to see it.

may have been cliche and predictable, but I still really enjoyed it. A sweet, innocent movie is sometimes just what you need. leaves you warm and happy, and I was pleased with the animation throughout, the visuals were inventive and fun.

There's these things in writing be it screen writing or books called archetypes which are plots that are repeated throughout all stories, why? Because these themes are what people understand. Be as it may that this movie could do a better job of portraying this archetype it's still an archetype nonetheless and I'm honestly tired of people complaining about it, writers who stray from archetypes get judged for not having relatable stores but those that follow them aren't good enough and are criticized for trying to make you happy. Now I'll get off my soapbox just had to say what was on my mind. Good day.

Just saw this film, a shame nobody talks about it, its gorgeous, fantastic animation, even some hand draw animated sequences that are breathtaking beautiful, this is a film that DESERVE to be watch it, not ignored and forgotten.

***** Well if they keep the original Ocean Group dub this will be GKIDS's first involvement with a Canadian company (see their dub clients are Studiopolis in LA and NYAV Post in NY) and I really don't want them to redub it because of the good and hard performances that went into this Canadian voice actors especially the English voice of Necross because he did a real good Tony Jay like voice that could get him to play Megabite if they are planing to bring back Reboot.

The main character remembers me really on Ori, from the game "Ori and the blind Forest". Also at 2:00 there's an animal, that reminds me a lot on Naru (the sasquatch-like creature at the beginning of the game).

Yes it is old, yes it is animated (handdrawn)..but damn try to make sense of the ending WITHOUT looking it up online..and even that doesn't really help.
Give it a shot, you have nothing to loose besides some hours of your live, but they will be worth it..atleast once.

+Delareene Joseph Well.. The moon doesnt really have a guardian since sailor moon didnt exist in the past of silver millenium. The four guardians: Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus were actually the guardians of the moon and princess serenity.

this film is hands down my favourite animated film of all time. kubo and the 2 strings is a close second but i watched this film on a whim when i was bored and was so engrossed in the animation style and storyline. people saying it seems cliche need to understand that when executed well, beautiful works of art blossom. i recommend this film to anyone

I don't think it's going to be a masterpiece but pleasant enough to watch once or twicw after a ling time.
I really hope this comes out... I feel like I'm the only one that's really excited for this. And yes, I get that the plot and characters are cliche, but I mean c'mon, guys... It's a kids movie. EVERY. KIDS MOVIE. IS LIKE THIS. Why? I don't know. I think it's just to constantly remind children that "Hey, no matter who you are, where you come from, you can do something amazing." And the bully and the nerd/geeky guy becoming friends after despising each other, I know I know... That's just sort of to make kids realize that "Becoming friends with your enemies is better than violence." I'm excited for this movie. It's so unique in character design and scenery, and I really hope this is actually a thing.
this movie looks beautiful and i really want to see it and all, but i really hope the candle-girl isn't just a "we needed to include a straight romance so here's a two-dimensional woman to boost the protagonist's ego" type of character because that would be really disappointing

the only part I liked about the plot is the moon and sun guardians, and the villain looks okay. But I think the moon guardian should of being a girl- it would have fitted better. Unless I'm the only one thinking that.. but ugh, every movie has that big dumb guy. Either he's actually funny, or usually it'll bring down the whole movie. I like some parts but I don't think it'll be that good. But I could be wrong.

And it may have changed the plot up alittle but I would probably be for better, just I think a female main would have suited this kind of film. But it's their film so..

Having a kid in my house again ive watched this now about 10x..It has its moments of "awe"..amazing art and some of the music is just amazing..The story is maybe "cliche" but its still not bad..I would give it a 7/10.
I wonder how many of you actually actually gave the film a chance. I have the DVD now and it's one of my absolute favorite movies. The characters are really likable, the lore is fascinating, and it skirts the cliches you all were so quick to damn it with. Mune isn't overly timid, he's overconfident. Sohone isn't hated by everyone, he's beloved by all of Day's people. Glim didn't impress the boys by moving on ahead in one clip, she's an intelligent girl who wants to help. It's not a typical Good vs. Evil, it's about handling big responsibilities and stepping up.

Slightly unsure about how they cut the trailer (especially that weird voiceover) but this has to be the most visually stunning movie I've seen in a while. The art direction looks fantastic, can't wait to see it! :D

I am really offended that everyone in the comments is saying that this movie is a typical cliche`. It's not easy to come up with stories these days so you can't blame them for that. This is one of the best animated movies I've seen in a long time and I think it's beautiful and deserves more credit.
Truthfully, every movie looks the same to uneducated people who can't follow storylines and are cursed with short attention spans due to their cognitive decline. Action movies with zero plot but explosions every minute or two came out just for them.
When does this come out? The animation looks beautiful, not gonna lie, but the characters remind me of many things. Stereotypical underestimated guy, strong guy, smart girl, mean people.
The art in this movie is indeed very creative and beautiful, very out of the box in a good way! But the story... Oh, the story... I'm not one to judge before watching and I know trailers can be misleading, but if the plot and characterization are as cliché as this trailer implies, I fear this might ruin the experience... It's like they say in the world of entertainment: "You can have last generation's graphics, but this won't save your work if the story is bad."
