'Saezuri (Chirping Birds)' - Oregon Koto-Kai

This piece by Tadao Sawai, composed in 1984, was performed for the first time by Oregon Koto-Kai at their 11th Annual Concert held at Portland Japanese Garden on August 27th 2022.
Composer's note:
When the darkness is over, the sky turns first rose, then to bright golden light. The birds start to sing a prelude to the morning from the trees. Their song accompanies the transition to a clear and deep blue sky. This brightness makes the birds dance with joy. I composed this cheerful piece by imagining the fairy-tale-like scene.
