    I love love love spreadsheets.
    Well… maybe that’s an overstatement.
    I loved spreadsheets and I figured the only reason other people didn’t was because they didn’t understand them.
    The idea that information is available in such an easy to consume way makes my heart happy.
    But goodness when I try to share one, the majority of people are not interested.
    I used to have spreadsheets for personal stuff but after decades of working with spreadsheets, I now only use them if I need them professionally and they’re mostly tools for me.
    Plants are my outlet to be creative and unstructured so I don’t use spreadsheets with them as an act of rebellion against my alter ego 😂

      How quickly people shut down when you suggest making something into a spreadsheet 😂
      This is the only spreadsheet I’ll make for this hobby I think, mainly because I need to be able to share it with my anthurium breeding friends but I also like to challenge my brain to remember details - it makes me feel more connected with the plant chores

    Hi, my name is Will, I just wanted to thank you for your presentation. I'm a proud plant Papa and appreciate the information concerning Tree Fern Fiber. I'm in the States and use ETSY and Amazon for most supplies. Unlike Leca or Pon it's quite a challenge to get Tree Fern Fiber in Larger Quantities. Your progress using this substrate will make me look at more options to find the solution. Thanks again and have a wonderful week.

    • @youdontevengrowhere
      @youdontevengrowhere  Рік тому

      My heterocraspedon was not a fan of moss or pon, but started to take off after I put it in TFF mixed with perlite/pon! They’re not the easiest philos imo and they have really unsatisfying red woody roots so it’s hard to tell when they’re root happy 🥲

    • @youdontevengrowhere
      @youdontevengrowhere  Рік тому +2

      Pon to tff/soil has been incredibly seamless! I just shake off the majority of the pon but don’t bother removing what’s stuck to the roots, and then straight into the new mix. I like to leave some pon on because zeolite can be beneficial for pH regulating or so I’m led to believe. The anthuriums have all picked back up immediately for me!

    I have never kept a water reservoir for soil and tree fern. Do you keep a resovior there at all times?
    Love your videos!

    • @youdontevengrowhere
      @youdontevengrowhere  Рік тому +3

      Oh that’s a good question, I should clarify - I don’t keep a reservoir for soil/tff at all times, but if I happen to put too much water in that layer can stop the substrate from getting too muddy and prolong the time until the next watering is needed. Once roots start to grow into that area I want to make sure they don’t dry out because the leca layer dries the fastest, so when I water I will kind of water down the side of the vessel so that it bypasses the majority of the soil into the leca layer which can then slowly wick water upwards. I hope this all makes sense 😅

    I always just used soil/aroid mix with drainage. Switched a lot of plants over to pon and no drainage and watched everything either slowly decline over time or just not do as well. It’s refreshing to see people slowly realize pon and no draining is not the vibe lol

    • @youdontevengrowhere
      @youdontevengrowhere  Рік тому

      I still love pon and prefer no drainage overall but I’ve been trying to push the ferts a little bit more than I’ve been comfortable with in the past to see if I could manipulate colour more so I think this is safer! But I get it, pon/no drainage is def not for everyone haha
