One thing about Vietnamese people they are hard workers ! You don’t see people there begging for money, they are on the streets selling what they can to make money. You can also see the First Lady is willing to look through all her inventory just to sell him one more shirt. They are all about earning every dollar I love Vietnam. I’m here now and I’m coming back to visit every year.
Begging is very painful and humiliated in Vietnam. The people who beg usually are handicapped, either very old or very young (little kids). I think beggars are rare nowadays in Vietnam since its economy has improved drastically in the last 20 years. Even those kinds of person who likely had to beg before can find something to do to earn income. That’s why I was so shocked to see a young and healthy family in the US (a mom, a dad and one little kid) begged at the red light. He held a big board saying something like he needed help to feed his family. It was so shameful! He’s capable of working but refused and proceeded to ask for money from strangers. It’s just not right.
You are correct, bargaining is expected. You are looked upon as being smart if you bargain strongly but respectfully. The vendors are good people looking to make a living like everyone. I start at 25% of the asking price and stay firm for a while, then gradually go up. Even though I know I will buy the item, I pretend to walk away. Always highly compliment the item then say that it is above your budget or what you can pay. Then the real bargaining takes place. Have fun with it and respect the vendor. Never pay more than 50% of the asking price but that is rare. Stay around the 25-30% price no matter what they say. Remember, the item you want is not exclusive. It will be elsewhere. In fact, the grapevine seems to travel fast and a vendor will approach you knowing how you bargained and offer the item at a lower price than the previous vendor. It happens more frequently than not. Folks out there maybe have a question about Vietnam made, a fair bit of international brands are made in Vietnam, Cambodia and even Thailand. Apparels made in these countries are almost original. Certain original manufacturers would produce more than what was ordered and sell off the surplus

That's so kind of you ❤... The man you give the shoe and Tshirts said "No home, souvenir. Motobike... Alibaba. Telephone... Alibaba..." He mean he is homeless and you give him many, it will be stolen by thief. In Vietnam, "Alibaba" mean the thief. In the end of video, I think maybe he has a mental problem (maybe because he has had some kind of shock in his life) and that's why he holds your hand, presses your pulse with his finger to hear and say "doctor", he means he examines you.
Hey man that’s really awesome .. it seems you get the thrill out of shopping and bargaining which is great.. to see you give away to a homeless man really made me happy at the end made me think that you aren’t doing this to be cheap but simply like to shop and bargain thumbs up

Loved the Cambodian lady from Phnom Penh. Reminded me of all the lovely people I met in Cambodia. The people in Cambodia seemed way more genuinely friendly than their neighbours like Thailand and Laos. Unfortunately haven't been to Nam but hopefully going Cambodia for 3rd time end of year and will do Nam then as only hear good things.
Enjoy your video Chris. You mastered the negotiation techniques; Bargaining is the norm in the Vietnamese culture so don’t feel bad about it. Regarding the homeless man , when he said you look like Alibaba and you had no clue. Then he said “ Alibaba bay” . Bay in Vietnamese mean “fly” . He referred you to a character in the children’s book “Alibaba and the 40 thieves” . Alibaba had a beard like you and he used the flying carpet to get around. I think when he tried to hold your arm and imitated the doctor’s technique “listen to the apical pulse” because he really thought the you were ill. Only severely sick or crazy person would give him all the nice and brand new stuff. By the way Vietnamese women think long beard guy resembled Bin Laden . So be careful they may think you are walking around with bombs.
Chris is definitely right saying you have to make low offer. When I was the first time in Bangkok (1999) it was really cheap so I didn’t haggle and when said ok to the first price they gave me they looked at me like I would be an alien, later a friend had to show me how to haggle and that you need to do it. It’s part of the whole Asia experience 😅
She was honest , I thought she was going to short you when you said I will give you $500 and her not correcting you but she mentioned it at the end that it was only $ 450.00
All those tshirts are dope and very affordable. I don't care if the tag is what makes it cost $300 in the US. I just like the quality of the fabric and the logos.
Just stumbled across your channel and love the vids!! Great Work! One thing to note though - Richard Mille is pronounced "REE-shar MEEL" and not "Richard Milly"...I only learnt that about 2 months ago
Hey Chris! I just went from saigon to pnomh penh 2 days ago….you really have to try the dried candied ginger splices and the dried mango slices. They also sell them in the benh than market. Definitely try!
I am from India and you should see my mom bargain. It goes down to the point where it becomes embarrassing 😅😅 but yes like you said if you don’t bargain they will rip you off, not saying that they are bad people or anything but that’s just the way it is
Wow! While watching your video I’m smiling because of bargaining here and there. I love the LV wallet. And thank you for giving the tshirt and the shoe to this unfortunate man.
this was great 👍 it wasnt to show whats the bottom lowest dollar but how friendly and how easy it is to negotiate with the people. negotiating will not insult them. Its better to negotiate for a better experience than a price. he could have save a few bucks here and there but he made some great connections without getting the stink eye 👍👍
Exactly! I didn't low ball them because they made the video great! It's important to treat these people right especially when you're making thousands off the video. Some people are just wrong, there's so many that go out there and film these videos.... get millions of views and spend nothing in the market... that is wrong
Your goodness to people is awesome, always helping those in needs! I like your videos that brings me to the countries that I would like to visit. Happy traveling from Canada.
Great content once again, but on the wallet / belt combo you did yourself out by 50 she offered 225 for each. And she remembered and offered you the 50 back. Very special people and honest just making a living.
This is Vietnam. She could’ve kept hush about the 50k but didn’t. Countless times I’ve misheard and handed over 30k and they’ve returned 10k. It’s 50cents but they don’t want to cheat you. It’s to the point where I just hold out the money and trust them to take the right amount ❤️
in the Ben Thanh Market? naaah, mostly just cheap fakes with tourist prices and all of the stands have almost identical stuff... better to visit a side street next to the market
I’ve been to Vietnam a couple times and my family (who are locals) there get so mad at me for not haggling harder with the shops. The sellers are known for gouging prices when it comes to selling to tourists.
I like it a lot when you said you are looking for a wife in the Vietnamese shop. And actually, she is Cambodian from Phnom Phen. You are hilarious Chris. And I like how you bargain also. 😂
I bought T-shirts from the same lady in May this year! Also got a fake Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 thats really beautiful. I had my Vietnamese bà xã with me so I got better deals, but I won't rub it in. 😄 Love your channel.
Bro , I’ll be going to Vietnam next year and I’m going to try out bargaining with the Vietnamese people and see how I go and I will be doing the same things like you by not keeping it for myself. I be looking for people that who needs it more than I do .
I was in Guatemala and the vendors said I wasn’t bargaining hard enough and gave me pointers:) I would want those two ladies at beginning selling for me, relentless :)
Cool video clip, Chris. I bought those T fake name brand T shirts to wear at home, and they actually hold up very good. The material's quality was decent too. For the wallets, I suggest you spent just over $200 for a real alligator wallet. I bought one in Thailand. It has lasted many years, still going strong and looks new. I tried a fake wallet in VN. It fell apart just atfer a few days. To sum it up, some of those " fake products, although their quality can't be compared with the real ones, but some are still of high quality, since even some original name brand goods are made from Asian countries. You'll need to exam the quality of the products to skim out the good ones among them though.
Vietnamese women are so nice i enjoyed watching this video over and over especially the part with the lady you bought the wallet and belt from this lady is just full of love
Oh man this brought back memories. I spent many days at this market and to be honest I found these guys not as pushy as some other countries and super friendly . I’ll get back there soon I hope .
I hadn't even heard of Alexander McQueen until now. Had to look up the prices in the US, and NOOOOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYYYYYY would I ever, EVA pay that kind of money for sneakers. I'm the kind of guy who will spend $10 for a pair and then wear them for 10 years, so about $1 a year! Now that I have moved to the Philippines, I don't wear sneakers, but sandals everywhere. No more socks either! yayayayayaya. Interesting video. Perhaps one day I will visit Vietnam.
I think it helps them understand English more. For some reason foreigners especially in Asian countries think Amercians speak too fast. I'm Asian-American and when I run into people who only speak Spanish, I find myself speaking English in a slower slight accent too. For me, its just something that happens and I don't intentionally do it. 🤷♀️
Bro if you don’t offer them a price that offends them than you overpaid. I was there last month I negotiated from 350 to 50 per item bro they charge you 10x+ the price when they see you’re foreign
Doesn't matter you're foreigners or Vietnamese. As long as you're speak English. The sellers will JACKUP THE PRICE. Because most of Vietnamese people in Vietnam think, OUTSIDERS ARE ALL RICH. MONEY GROWS ON THE TREES.
Hey Chris, love your videos bro. However one thing, you need to be more aggressive when bargaining. You are over paying for products but otherwise keep up the fire vids!

The people in Cambodia seemed way more genuinely friendly than their neighbours like Thailand and Laos. Unfortunately haven't been to Nam but hopefully going Cambodia for 3rd time end of year and will do Nam then as only hear good things.
Thank you Kenny for liking my country and my people. I truly appreciate that. 🥺🥺🥺
Thanks a lot for the kind words!
Interesting , thank you for answering the exact question on my mind.
She was honest , I thought she was going to short you when you said I will give you $500 and her not correcting you but she mentioned it at the end that it was only $ 450.00
Yes! Such an honest woman!
Regardless how Vietnamese people would appear, they can’t really fully understand all the words foreigners say.
All those tshirts are dope and very affordable. I don't care if the tag is what makes it cost $300 in the US. I just like the quality of the fabric and the logos.
I still have my shirts and polo from 10 years ago in Thailand. If you buy right, you can get really good quality! 🙂
I love that Chris is so well mannered 😊
Just stumbled across your channel and love the vids!! Great Work!
One thing to note though - Richard Mille is pronounced "REE-shar MEEL" and not "Richard Milly"...I only learnt that about 2 months ago
You are 💯 right with the pronunciation
I just found this video. It was fun. Been to all the places too. I'm following you now, for sure! 🥳
You are so sweet and all the Vietnamese people are so kind.
Bro ur Killin me... ur gonna have me traveling to Vietnam right quick 😆 it's on my bucket list.
Thanks for the video🙏👍
Hey Chris! I just went from saigon to pnomh penh 2 days ago….you really have to try the dried candied ginger splices and the dried mango slices. They also sell them in the benh than market. Definitely try!
I definitely will try that!!!! Sounds bomb!
😊💜 Love the different cultures!! Thank you for sharing!! 😊🙏💜
Thank you bro for helping that poor guy at the end, fun watching you bargain the price 😀😀
thanks! Where are you watching from?
@@Travelwithchris California but I will be in PDC Mexico on Sept 10th watching ur vid😀 I love PDC Mexico
@@vientran8109 Becareful there, they have weapons and drug cartels.
Vietnam people are so nice, very beautiful country,
😳😳😳😱. Cool video bro. Waiting for more.
Btw 22:37 what app is that you're using for currency converter?
I am from India and you should see my mom bargain. It goes down to the point where it becomes embarrassing 😅😅 but yes like you said if you don’t bargain they will rip you off, not saying that they are bad people or anything but that’s just the way it is
Wow! While watching your video I’m smiling because of bargaining here and there. I love the LV wallet. And thank you for giving the tshirt and the shoe to this unfortunate man.
Good heart
Good job with the negotiating prices. Appreciate you for giving the guy the items you purchased.
that was the best video.... buy a load of stuff and give it to a homeless guy... top man chris
btc is down, 15k soon.
thank you so much for the support! I appreciate you big time!
Love your fake market spree videos! Well all your videos lol And thank you for visiting Cambodia btw!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoy the videos, it means a lot to me!
Omg - loving this!!! 8:00 - she reminds me of my visit to the Shanghai underground markets - just brutal salespeople.
this was great 👍 it wasnt to show whats the bottom lowest dollar but how friendly and how easy it is to negotiate with the people. negotiating will not insult them.
@@Travelwithchris Keep it up 👍
Great video!!! Need more like these. Was entertaining as well.
Thanks a lot Mike!!! Dude so many more on the way! I have filmed some great ones!
let me know what you think about my market hunt videos at the grand bazaar😎🤙🏼
OMG 😳 I could do some damage there 😂😆🤣 that was so nice of you 🙏
Thank you so much! You need to visit this market!
Arrived here yesterday! Such a nice country! Thanks for the recommendation. Hope we bum into you mate!!
Unfortunately I already left, but I hope you have an amazing time! Enjoy Vietnam!
No worries! all the best in your adventures my friend. Keep up the good work
I subscribed because of the interesting content and most of all your generosity of spirit and kindness.
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me!
Your goodness to people is awesome, always helping those in needs! I like your videos that brings me to the countries that I would like to visit. Happy traveling from Canada.
Love it! Another great video! That market looks dope lol 😂 I would come back with some icyyyyy shit lol 😝
❤️❤️❤️
What currency app do you use when traveling to those countries?
Great content once again, but on the wallet / belt combo you did yourself out by 50 she offered 225 for each. And she remembered and offered you the 50 back. Very special people and honest just making a living.
Ahah thanks, I'll get better! Where are you watching from?
@@Travelwithchris Liverpool, United Kingdom. Keep up the great work and enjoy your travels. M
Chris, you are the. most happy You Tuber, always smile,. You stay awesome!
Hi, I like how respectful you are with all of them. Also nice shirt…… pupusas and El Salvador 👍🏼😊🎉
Thanks so much! I miss El Salvador a lot!
I’m in! New subscriber here. Best shopping in the world. Been there and it is awesome. The best fake stuff I’ve seen.
in the Ben Thanh Market? naaah, mostly just cheap fakes with tourist prices and all of the stands have almost identical stuff... better to visit a side street next to the market
Thailand also the best place to shopping a quality & branded stuff with very small baget
I’ve been to Vietnam a couple times and my family (who are locals) there get so mad at me for not haggling harder with the shops. The sellers are known for gouging prices when it comes to selling to tourists.
Yes definitely! They charge way too much for everything
Vietnamese should charge more with descendant Vietnamese US like you lol
I just avoid buying all together coz i dont like to bargain.
@@ledanglovethat’s why shouldn’t buy from Viet cộng!!
I like it a lot when you said you are looking for a wife in the Vietnamese shop. And actually, she is Cambodian from Phnom Phen. You are hilarious Chris. And I like how you bargain also. 😂
A lot of Vietnamese live in Phonom Phen, Cambodia.
That was hilarious
Bro 100 percent agree with you. We have to bargain. Those people who don't bargain have not seen the real world.
I bought T-shirts from the same lady in May this year! Also got a fake Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 thats really beautiful. I had my Vietnamese bà xã with me so I got better deals, but I won't rub it in. 😄 Love your channel.
No shipping ???
Ahahah thanks so much for the support!
@@rav612 Bring extra luggage. It's cheaper than shipping from vn.
Bro , I’ll be going to Vietnam next year and I’m going to try out bargaining with the Vietnamese people and see how I go and I will be doing the same things like you by not keeping it for myself. I be looking for people that who needs it more than I do .
I was in Guatemala and the vendors said I wasn’t bargaining hard enough and gave me pointers:)
I would want those two ladies at beginning selling for me, relentless :)
Love that you take us shopping with you. So nice that you gifted the items.
Thanks so much for always leaving great comments Lisa! I appreciate you!
Hello? hey buddy you know what i really like about this video? you NEVER make fun of anyone!!
Lady who said “that’s a lot of money” at the beginning was getting ready to rob him 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Vietnamese women are so nice i enjoyed watching this video over and over especially the part with the lady you bought the wallet and belt from this lady is just full of love
Ahahah yes!! They are so fun to talk too! I loved the interaction that I had with her! Thanks for the support!
She is happy with her sale
Does Philippines have black market
@@cartierwhite_lasvegas I'm sure it does, just as everywhere does, but I don't live on that side of the road anymore.
Alexander McQueen is iconic my guy. He is a fashion icon and a genius with any fabric or textile….
Does anyone notice his accent changes when speaking with the locals/vendors? I wonder if it helps them understand English
That’s just the LA Hispanic English accent.
Yes it’s kinda cringe but I enjoy the content lol
Yes he sounds more Mexican when he speaks to local. Or he definitely tries to play dumb. It’s over the top.
@@xitsmedianax I think that's possible to do without changing your accent though. Idk just my opinion
Just found your channel. Loving the videos. This makes me want to go to Vietnam.
That 10$ balenciaga shirt in vietnam is only $3 dollar shirt here in the philippines. Bought the same thing haha
He was checking your pulse to see if you were ok because he couldn’t believe it.
Wow wonderful channel I could watch your videos all day and visiting Vietnam is on my bucket list.
Thank you so much! I hope you make that trip one day!
Bro if you don’t offer them a price that offends them than you overpaid.
I was there last month I negotiated from 350 to 50 per item bro they charge you 10x+ the price when they see you’re foreign
Exactly, u just act like you are leaving and they will agree with your price right away.
Everything is just for YOU , great shows….welcome to Sai gon Chris .
Thank you so much for the support!
Omg you are a very humble and funny guy! I really enjoyed your video!!
Hey Chris, love your videos bro. However one thing, you need to be more aggressive when bargaining. You are over paying for products but otherwise keep up the fire vids!
What makes you an expert? You think by saving $5 more dollars it means you're smart or something? Or are you so poor you can't afford to overpay $5?
i think its just good advice for Chris or any viewer
