- Hey guys! It's time for the 2017 Gift-Giving Week to begin and I'm kicking off this year's with what I got my 13 year old daughter for Christmas. She's 1/2 grownup and 1/2 kid and I love that her gifts are a mix of that. It's such a fun age!

WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE THAT ARE 14 SAYING “ Hatchimals are for kids” I’m 17 I’d honesty love one, just last year I got a Firby and I think I was the happiest person alive. I think it’s absolutely amazing her daughter isn’t trying to grow up too fast.Everyone just wants phones or IPad for Christmas, but this precious girl seems to believe in more then high tech gadgets and wants to actually enjoy her childhood. Exactly! Everybody likes different things and she just thinks they're cute. I don't know why so many people are getting so upset that they think she's too old to like them. She isn't trying to grow up too fast and I love that about her! You're only a kid for a little while so why not enjoy it, right? I appreciate your kind and thoughtful comment!

I am 14 and last year for Christmas I asked for a Simon toy and this year I didn’t really ask for any toys but I still will occasionally play with toys and think it is awesome that she is still into toys!

It's interesting to see how people of the same age have such different interests! For example, I'm a thirteen year old and I'm more into makeup and clothes, but at the same time I know people who are into the complete opposite. People can't be rude just because they have different interests to your daughter! I think you're a great mom and anyone would be so great full for these things xx

I’m 13 and I personally wouldn’t like some of the things but I know plenty of people my age who would love everything that you got your daughter! I honestly don’t understand all of the hate on what you got YOUR daughter if she likes what she got why does it matter if they don’t like it or not? Why are people so immature?! I know I'm late but these rude comments are really disheartening. Why would thirteen be too to play with a Hatchimal? I'm sure your daughter is a wonderful person who is very grateful for what she got. She is certainly better than the little brats who are judging someone they don't even know over the internet.

We are an older, retired couple. His children get money, his choice. And I have no children. We live in a different stat than the children.
NOW! The grandchild gets gifts, 12 days of Christmas, from me & money from grandpa (his one & only grandchild). That's how we do it.

I would totally snag that waving iron from her too. A little tip is to make sure that it’s good and hot because you don’t want to wave the same section of hair over and over again. It doesn’t look nice and it’s hard to line up the iron in the exact the same spot. Great gift!

I am the main shopper but I show my husband what she is getting. He grunts and goes off to kill something and bring it home. 😂😂 Just kidding! He lets me handle it and he will go out and pick something just from him. This year is different as she is 11 and does not like toys at all.

A Place to Nest Ah...the million dollar question. Drawing and sketching stuff but she is picky in that too. We are thinking a phone and a keyboard, but we are going to Universal right after Christmas so that is her present too.
My daughter loves getting new sketch pads, markers, pencils, etc. Is your daughter into Harry Potter? They have lots of adult Harry Potter coloring and art books if she would like that.
A Place to Nest Not so much. She likes to draw free hand. She doesn't like to color unless it is her own drawing. We did get her PrismaColor pencils as they are the best. Also sketch pads and a shapener. We found a used keyboard that was a steal for $140 including the stand, headphones and foot pedal.
Ignore the hate mlove I'm 14 and I promise we aren't all this rude!! I loved this video even though I'm more into makeup and things but I still am asking for a doll along with a iPhone 8 Chanel perfume, highend makeup etc, and there's nothing wrong with it!! Loved this video xxx

EJJ M my mums a bit Christmas crazy aha, she saves all year and my nan puts in money along with my dad and stepdad, she doesn't spoil me and my siblings all year round just at Christmas time and I'm very grateful for it all!!! Xxxxx

Yes...My husband is the same as yours. He really just lets me do my own thing when it comes to buying gifts for the kids. He is usually just a surprised as the kids too. I do occasionally show him a few items I buy and might tell him what I plan to buy...if I want his imput. But I do the majority of the shopping.
My husband doesn't even ask so I don't really bring it up. I would really miss it if I didn't get to do the shopping so I'm glad my husband doesn't really like to. haha
My husband hates shopping so he just gives me the money to go shopping with .

I remember being 13 and thinking I was to cool for toys, telling everyone not to get me them etc even if I wanted them, now I'm 24 with 2 kids of my own and I think 90% of adults get a lot of toys because they want to play with them and now have a "excuse" to lol. I'm stoked to play legos, hot wheels and dolls with my kids this Christmas. You're never to old to like what you like. For the kids on here who want a toy but think they are to old. You're not. You never will be. Play with what you want to, life is extremely short and can be taken from you at any second and I promise the kids who have stuff to say secretly want toys too.

My girls are almost 7 and 12 so these ideas will come in handy! In our family I definitely pick out most of the gifts but my husband occasionally will pick things out for our two boys. Always very helpful Becky! :)

They are amazing gifts Becky, I eh I'm 41 and I really want that journal, the stickers and the tabs. I am such a sucker for stationary. She will be so happy with all her gifts, can't wait to see her stocking stuffers! We don't have children but I pretty much buy every gift for everyone, even my husband's mum, but it suits me, I love buying gifts and putting thought into it. My husband buys me gifts and always picks well, but when it comes to everyone else, I get them.

I am 13 in January and i still collect dolls because why throw them away and of someone is being horrible then thats being jealous .
My mom and dad together get me and my sister gifts. They usually don't go together, but they both know what the other person is getting and both get stuff for us. Our stocking and our tree gifts.

I think your gifts are always great. You have some great ideas and you have also made me a Klutz addict as well. :) Getting my girls a few Klutz items this year. I usually pick out the gifts for our girls because I love looking for deals and shopping. He usually sits down with me and we order them together. We also go shopping in the store for stocking stuffers together.

Amazon is great! Even if I don't always purchase the gifts there, I like to look around for ideas and then find the best prices for them.
Thank you so much for the amazing ideas for girls gifts! I think this is a difficult age. You like makeup and clothes but there is still a part of you that loves toys. I still love toys and don't have any hopes of getting over it now. As for the makeup, what better place can someone learn to use makeup the right way than with their Mother. I was in school with girls that would sneak it to school because their mother wouldn't let them wear it and it was not pretty.
Some of the comments have been harsh. Not enough gifts, the gifts are too young, the gifts are too old, makeup for a 13 year old and the most ridiculous is that you're a bad Mom because you only get them 7 tree presents and 9 stocking stuffers. I had one of the greatest Moms in the world and we got one gift. Most of the time it was handmade. Maybe a nightgown or Barbie furniture that she made from cocoa boxes, shoe boxes and clothes pins. They were beautiful. And all the love that went into them still brings tears to my eyes. Christmas isn't measured by the number of gifts no matter how many or how few but the love that goes into each one. I feel sorry for those that have to have expensive presents in abundance before they can be happy. There is a spirit of Christmas that doesn't come in a present.
I appreciate so much the time you take to share your ideas to make shopping easier for us. Please know that the crude comments from a few does not reflect the feelings of the majority of us. You can tell you are a great Mom.
It is a difficult age but a very fun one, too! I love that she still loves toys but also likes makeup and nail polish. She is the best of both worlds and a lot of the negative comments I've gotten are from girls who probably think you have to act a certain way, just because of your age, and that's very sad. If you like something, you like it, and it shouldn't matter if you're 13 or 30! I would much rather have my daughter like toys AND makeup than be glued to a phone and not be able to carry on a conversation.
Christmas is most definitely NOT measured by the amount of gifts that people get and for those that think it is, perhaps they shouldn't get any and maybe then they would be forced to find happiness on Christmas that doesn't come from a gift!
I'm just glad that my girls are thankful and appreciative for their gifts, whatever they are and however many there are, and that they don't feel the way that a lot of these people who have commented so rudely do. Your mother went to a lot of effort to make you those gifts and even though there weren't many, you remember them. I wonder how many of the kids who left ungrateful and hateful comments can actually remember gifts they got for longer than few weeks or months....probably not many!

I love that you Put a limit on your gifts. I have 5 kids with birthdays nov 25, dec 15, feb 23, feb 25, and one on may 21. Christmas shopping along with birthdays make it super difficult for me. So many people buy their kids tons of stuff for christmas and u make me feel less guilty for putting a limit on my kids gifts when they have birthdays so close to christmas! Thank you for the video!
Yes, we do limit the gifts. I used to give them way more, especially when I only had one child, but I quickly learned that it was too much for them. They had no idea what they even got, there was no room for anything and it was just too overhwleming for them and for me. Plus, their bdays are right after Christmas so I have to save gift ideas for that. :) All of these people commenting that I don't give my kids enough is ridiculous. I'm not trying to raise greedy little misers but actually give them gifts they will remember and play with/use. With 5 kids, I'm sure you would have to limit the gifts or they would take over your whole house! lol Don't feel guilty for limiting what you get your kids! I've learned this week from the comments from kids on my gift guide videos that too many kids in this generation are a bunch of spoiled ungrateful brats and I'm not trying to raise any of those and I'm sure you aren't either. haha
Hi Becky, I think you always do a great job with your gift giving! I look forward to these videos. My daughter is 5 but I have older nieces that I try to shop for so I love your inspiration & ideas. I like that you balance them both with the same amount (I do this too) and vary them with crafts, educational and toys or jewelry. Now if only you had boys too! 😂 It shows your love and the joy you get by how much time and effort you put into your gift giving. 👍

Sometimes I wonder if kids should really be allowed on the internet. It's rather annoying to scroll through the comment section and see all kinds of rude, pointless, and somewhat ridiculous comments coming from 9~14 year-olds who think way too much of themselves and apparently have nothing better to do. Not that there aren't sweet, mature kids, but many seem to forget their manners hiding behind the screen. Sorry for the rant lol, this has been bothering me for quite awhile😂
You are so right! A lot of times when the kids comment, it's during school hours and I wonder, aren't they supposed to be in school or have homework to do? Some of the kids have been very respectful but most have been rude and ungrateful and it is sad to think that there is so much emphasis put on the amount of gifts and how much they cost. To be told I'm a bad mother just because they don't like the gifts I picked out is laughable and I feel very sorry for these kids. It makes me wonder what kind of parenting they are getting to think it's acceptable to be so rude, spoiled and disrespectful? I appreciate your comment and your support!

ugh, I love how ppl are talking about 13yr olds being selfish when you literally made a video ab getting ur kids things like... guess what, there are Christmas lists for a reason I'm not trying to be rude but hatchimals are expensive and most 13yr olds ik don't rlly want that they'd rather have makeup (which costs less).

Rachel Harris I'm 13 and I have only worn makeup for costume but idc I'd rather get little kid stuff because I'm a little kid inside (not that I wouldn't like getting it as it would make me 'cool' to have it even though I wouldn't really wear it much)

Love the whole No Electronics thing! I’m thirteen and my parents hand down their phones to me and my 14 month younger brother when they get new ones. I am asking for a computer this year but mainly want it for writing/music purposes as I am A writer/singer/songwriter. I will also use it for school! I have wanted my own computer for SO long and am positive I will cherish it forever. I love all of the gifts you got your girl and am sure she loves them. 😁

Nice gift ideas! When it comes to the big expensive gifts for the kids me and my husband go together but stocking things and smaller gifts I go ahead and get.

I only wish you had a 17 yr old son too...he is sooo hard to shop for. We are thinking of gift cards this year for him....do you think that is too cold or not thought out??

It's part of UA-cam, and life I suppose, but it's still annoying! lol
I am the main shopper and wrapper in the family! haha my husband will get the one gift he really wants to gift me and wrap that gift but aside from that I'm in charge of gifting. I think this year I did really well in holding off on too many gifts for the kids because I can go crazy. I picked up a Hatchimal for my 3 year old too just for his obsession with eggs so that is the one gift I'm excited to see him open on Christmas.
Hatchimals are so weird, aren't they? I don't even think they're cute but I know the girls will be excited. It is hard to control ourselves though, isn't it? I want to buy them everything but luckily their birthdays are not long after Christmas so I keep telling myself that when I want to get them everything for Christmas. :)

Ok so a lot of people are talking about how she got her daughter hatchimals, I know some 13 year olds who don’t want hatchimals, and I know some who do! You don’t know her daughter, you don’t know her family. I like clothes and makeup but I still LOVE drawing, and stuffed animals, and LEGO! They’re awesome! So just stop commenting rude things and go watch something you will enjoy.

I think you did a great job! I'm working on my kiddos Christmas gift lists right now. I tend to go horribly overboard with Christmas because it's my favorite time of year! I'm trying really hard to pair down this year =) Birthday's aren't as big of a deal for us though, we do a birthday dinner and activity and usually just one gift so Christmas is our big time! I almost feel the same way about my 6 year old son, he's not as interested in the Paw Patrol and Mickey Mouse cartoons anymore and is getting a science kit, chapter books and a robotic toy. It's so sad when you start transitioning from the "little kid" gifts!
We have paired down a lot over the years, too. They were just getting so much that they couldn't remember what they had and certainly couldn't play with all of it. It is hard to control ourselves though, isn't it? lol

Have a 13 year old girl as well. Me and my spouse each get her a few things from each of us. And then 1 gift from both of us. Also each tell the other what things we picked out. From time to time give my spouse ideas,because he doesn’t know how to shop for a 13 year old girl lol. Wwas easier for him in past years when all she wanted were toys toys and more toys.

I’m 12, I still play with littlest pet shop. Mostly to collect and just having them makes me happy. My little sister usually gets most the toys but me and her play together and I enjoy it. But not so much anymore, and sometimes I watch CookieSwirlC.

In these 14 years you can make the choice whether you want to act your age or not. If you make the choice not to act your age, keep it to yourself and don't bring other children down. I use the same hair waver! I love it, my hair is naturally wavy but when I shower before bed my hair gets a bit messy and looses the wave in some pieces and parts so it just makes everything look best!
