Respekt Mme Nilsson! - Sich als ausgewiesene Wagner- und Strauss Heroine 1978 nochmals in dieses Fach zu wagen zeigt uns Ihren Mut und Selbstvertrauen. Wirklich sehr gelungen. Hätten wir doch heutzutage eine Könnerin auch nur annähernd in Ihrer Liga.

Shame on the MET for not casting her more in Italian opera roles!!!! Look what we missed!!
According to the Metropolitan Opera database Nilsson sang the following Italian roles at the MET. 52 Turandots, 21 Aidas, 13 Toscas, 4 Ballos, and 3 Macbeths. Given the presence of Price, Milanov, Tebaldi, Arroyo, Freni, Tucci, Caballe, Amara and other top notch sopranos singing Italian opera at the house during her tenure that's not a bad representation in Italian opera for her at the MET.
That's the orchestra of the Belgian National Television (BRTN Filharmonisch Orkest), conductor Fernand Terby.

Ooh am looking forward to hearing La Nilsson singing these arias here, she is divine in Wagner and Strauss and of course as Turandot!!! She still has those wonderful ringing top notes here!!! Forever Birgit!!! 💜
I love her but the voice is clearly in decline here. Sad.
Sad. Every dramatic soprano singing today would give her eye teeth to be able to sing this well. Granted, the pianissimo in Forza was a little wandering but it got there eventually. Still, a wonderful performance.
She was 60 years old,had more than 20 years career and sang most of the heavy German and Italian repertoire,understand? it's clear?give me a break!!

From my perspective, her voice here was intact, she exercised great control of her voice, no vocal fatigue AND she gave a lesson on how you can sing forever with a great technique and with intelligence !!!!!
