Regarding the performance of your sleep system: more relevant than the pads, is the fact that you did not sleep on the ground, but rather on the wood planks that itself have a significant R value.
Agreed! We've tent camped with this system in similar temperatures and saw the same performance, however. It just didn't get cold enough to feel that much of a difference between the shelter and ground with insulated pads.
Interesting, I would never cut stuff out lol, I am more then happy too hike with 19 pounds of gear :)
FYI a MH Airmesh hoodie is half the weight of your Houdini and performs shockingly well!
