Yu Kay I CANT stand the way people like you think. It’s like you think everyone is the same person and group them all along with their ethnic/racial group and speak for them as a whole. People who have immigration experience and have gone back to their original countries will most likely not be complaining over things like that, they would have more empathy and would be more understanding as they also have gone through the same experience. Most humans are prone to be like that. If they have direct experiences they can relate to concerning a situation, they are more empathetic. It’s more the people who have not had immigration experiences that would complain about such things because it would be hard for them to relate. Idk how people like you can talk about whole ethnic/racial groups as if they’re one person and have the audacity to act like they’re contradicting themselves., when of course they would be contradictory since there are like 5B that make up Asia made up of all kinds of different people with different experiences, thoughts, beliefs and etc..
Youn Yuh-jung is such a humble and gracious lady she has such a warm essence about her. And Alan is such a cutie pie you can tell that there’s a mutual respect there.
I like her voice, so gentle. Even though English isn’t her first language, she speaks it beautifully. Alan did really well too but looked distracted at 6:00 😄
@@muqades101 she left a promising career as an actress in Korea to a shitty life in America where she almost became just a cashier. Ms. Youn is one of my favorite Korean actresses, so I’m so glad that she’s finally getting this well deserved attention and praise from the world. Can’t wait to see this movie.
@@babilabub for her movie, The Bacchus Lady, Taste of Money, Actresses (which had her as herself!), Beast Clawing at Straws, The Housemaid, etc. but not sure if those are on Netflix. This is like the most adorable interview and interaction ever! I love how she asks him in english and he straight up answers in korean. Absolutely love it!!!
Youn Yuh-jung has such a warm, down-to-earth nature here. Alan S. Kim is supposed to be asking the questions but, every so often, Youn will ask him “How about you?” with all the loving solicitousness of a grandmother and levels their relationship. It elevates the interaction to another level.
OMG! Dare I say, this is my favorite interview ever! The fact that Alan doesn’t truly understand Youn Yuh-Jung’s legendary status makes this so honest and sweet. Ms. Youn’s favorite scene with Alan is also, hands down, mine.
Ms. Youn is so likeable and down to Earth . I remember seeing her on the K-variety program, 'Master in the House/All the Butlers', where they were praising her for her accomplishments and her longevity in the industry. She was so humble and straightforward, with out an ounce of haughtiness or condescension, but what really got me was when she talked about the frustrations of being a senior actor in the K-film industry. She said she felt like she couldn't grow as an actor, because everyone on set is so mindful of her age (Korean culture frowns on correcting or criticising one's elders.), that she doesn't get any negative feed back or constructive criticism. As she talked about wanting to be challenged and to hone craft further, I was so impressed. She's a real treasure and I hope she continues to get to work in and outside of the Korean film industry.
He is the absolute cutest. I’m so grateful that his parents are willing to share him with all of us. He is like living, walking joy. & she’s so sweet Yay full combo
I'm so used to seeing her in Youn's Kitchen/Stay that sometimes I need to be reminded that she's actually a pretty amazing actress. 🤣 Loved her in Canola too.
She is one of the top actresses in Korea, her English is good taking in account that she has left USA many years ago. I believe she puts her best acting no matter what role she plays... would love to see her more..
I grew up watching Yoon Yeo Jung through her dramas thanks to my mom when we had to rent Korean dramas on VHS. Ever since I was a kid, she’d show up on television and I’d remember her as I got older. I’m so glad she is being globally recognized and more people are aware of her talent. She’s one of Korea’s most veteran actresses. Most respectable.
THIS. I also grew up watching her on VHS with my family. It’s amazing to see how far she’s come even with her age. I feel an immense amount of respect and proudness.
In cultures around the world, every woman is your grandma, mother and sister. Every man is your grandpa, father and brother. It's a sign of respect for elders. Only in the western world, you dare not call an old man or woman grandpa/grandma. I got chewed- out doing this. Their reply, " you are not my grandchild ". Learned my lesson then. Since then I refuse to help the elderly in the US.
@@kaypee4704 there is no word like that in English. Like calling aunty or grandma to them is just weird cause to me it means different thing, not like my own language. In English grandma/grandpa just mean for blood relative only. So if you’re happened to travel to the southern state of US just call them sir or madam as a way of being polite.
These two deserve very distinguished awards! They’re both brilliant actors. I love their natural ways on being humble. More movies for them please????!!!!!
Wow...when she said she's not like her character my jaw dropped. She seemed so comfortable and genuine in that role I assumed she was like that in real life! That Oscar was well deserved!
I remember watching her kdramas sitting next to my grandma since i was little, she's aged so gracefully and im so glad she's being praised for her amazing performance~
Yuh-Jung Youn is sooooo kind, elegant, and wonderful actress. She and Jung is very wonderful chemistry it's amazing to see. The whole cast of Minari deserves the best.
Youn Yuh-jung is a living legend. She can really do it all, from the sweet grandma to the scandalous concubine. I've lost track of how many of her dramas I've seen. My recent favorite is the role of a stern but caring owner of a small inn in Never Twice.
Excellent interview between Alan S Kim and Yuh-Jung Youn! Alan S. Kim is precocious and intelligent, and adorable. I can visualize him as a prominent actor in Korea in two decades. I have followed Yuh-Jung Youn for fifteen years on K-dramas and K-movies. She is the most recognizable veteran actor. Conducting an interview in English, adds another layer to her accomplishments.
Love this interview! Can't wait to watch the movie. I can't believe after these years watching this actress in kdrama that I didn't know she can speak English so well! Love her! 💜
This makes me nostalgic for the little conversations I used to have with my grandma, the only difference is she only spoke Korean and I only spoke English. Special movie and special cast here.

She is so unpretentious, straightforward, and humble.
Love love love her incredible actress!! Watch Canola, Keys to the heart and if you're ready for it.. Taste of money and Housemaid
She is a legendary Korean actress...respect!
In an interview when someone said she was a legend, she said that she was just old! Didn’t miss a beat! I sure hope she wins an Oscar.
She doesnt like legendary... bcs she knows it means old as same.
SKinSKorea she won it! OMG
