    We've been pricing these out extensively the last few weeks here in the U.S. and I can safely say that when you line up the top of the line Honda Odyssey, top of the line Toyota Sienna and the top of the line Chrysler Pacifica, the price tags all come in extremely close. Maybe its different in Canada, but here they compete with each other closely. That being said....we thought the Chrysler was the hands down winner. Nothing wrong with Honda or Toyota....the Chrysler was just a notch above. Never thought I would say that, as I've never been a Dodge/Chrysler fan....but these Pacificas seem legit. Great video, thanks for the review!

      It might be a bit different up here, but we also only compare MSRP across vehicles, whereas you definitely won't be paying that going into the showroom. In fact, we priced out this Pacifica for the comparison we did on the Kia and thought they were the same price, until we noticed Chrysler was adding on almost $7,000 in rebates and discounts to the price. Either way, we're still impressed with this Pacifica!

    I'm 71 and my last vehicle was a pickup. Considering a new mini van this spring and have checked out all of the manufacturers on the tube. Your video was brilliant in the points covered with a slant as to how they relate to a driver, instead of the usual read out from a brochure. So, after being able to load up in a truck, I found too many limitations with suv's and checked out the mini vans where I can carry furniture, plywood sheets, even have a nap in one with my rottweiler Conan on a trip. At my age I'm a bit cynical about overselling, and the all wheel drive hype. Also, I believe many drivers become over confident in harsh winter conditions, as I witnessed for too many years. It doesn't matter what you drive, as long as you adjust to the road conditions and most importantly, slow down. I'll let you know what I purchased in late spring. Keep up the good work, and I for one, have learned to truly respect your natural sincere and knowledgeable reviews. Thanks!

      Thanks for commenting, and I'm glad you found our channel! We're really glad to see so much interest in minivans like the Pacifica, we're hoping to feature some of the other brands this year. I think Chrysler has a really solid product on their hands, giving drivers more flexibility over interior space. We're planning to use the Pacifica for a road-trip in a couple months and should have some new footage to share on their PHEV!

    I just leased a 2018 Pacifica S Limited. Coming from a big, heavy, gas-guzzling Infiniti QX60, I figured I would seek another 3-row SUV. After some research into the Acura MDX, Subaru Ascent, Dodge Durango R/T and SRT, the value of the Pacifica was obvious. Final price was $39k and change, far less than any of the top-trimmed SUVs. I've had a Copper S limited/20" wheel for a week and it has been wonderful. It really is a good-looking van, too. So much nicer to look at than competitors. Reasonably luxurious, too, although the Infiniti and Acura probably have it beat on that aspect. Can't complain. It handles very well too, better than the heavy QX60. So far, so good.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  6 років тому

      We were very impressed with the Pacifica, and we're seeing quite a few of them on the road too which is good. Congrats on the purchase, I think you made the right decision! SUVs are dime a dozen now, but the Pacifica actually feels like the designers and engineers at Chrysler cared about making something different, and that always stands out in our books.

    Traded in my wifes 2016 Escape for a 2018 Pacifica touring plus with the S appearance package. It's beautiful and I agree with everything you said about it feeling smaller inside compared to the outside. I waxed it this past weekend and really realized how big it is!

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  6 років тому +1

      Every time I got out of the Pacifica I was surprised how large it really was. Chrysler did a fantastic job keeping this nimble and small on the road, just like the original minivan's idea of having a car-like driving experience. This is definitely one of our favourite vehicles we've driven this year!

    Thanks. I've been looking at a used Sienna or Honda Element for a vehicle with large sunroof that opens to allow standing up when camping. I'd like to see the panoramic sunroof opened. Also, being able to pass through from front seat to center area of minivan is a luxury I'm trying to get. Is the console in the Pacifica removeable?

Price out a class C or class B RV and you will miraculously find value in these vehicles. Nuff said for those of you who are at or close to retirement age with some gypsy blood in yah!!😉

    My family just purchased a used rental 2018 Pacifica, and we really like it. We already had a grand caravan and we didn't really have a use for another minivan, but we got a great deal on it and it was pretty loaded for the price.
    Some things I'm disappointed in is that the blue lights in the dashboard match the high beam indicator. There's been a few times where I've looked at my dash and I couldn't see if my high beams were on or not. Also, the buttons underneath the touch screen are really mushy and don't feel great to press at all.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  5 років тому

      Interesting note on the gauge cluster! Blue is certainly an uncommon colour to use for the cluster, that might be one of the reasons why most manufacturers stray away from it. We just recently published an episode on the 2019 Pacifica Hybrid and also enjoyed it.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  5 років тому +2

      Easiest way would be to talk to a dealer to have them search inventory. I'd say that a decent chunk of the Pacificas we see on the road are Limiteds, but getting all the right packages might be tough. Any FCA dealer should be able to see if a specific trim is optioned the way you want it somewhere out there with the ability to have it transported to them.

    @ $1.50/litre for gas (and we all know $2.00 is around the corner) you either need to travel very little or consider the Hybrid version. The base model with a couple of iPads for rear seats makes the most sense.

      @Tonyx.yt. 6 років тому +3

      Antoine Pageau 1.50 CAD per liter (with minimum wage around 13$) is not bad, here gasoline cost 1.60€ per liter and an common wage is around 7-8€ per hour... (No minimum wage here...)

      I think it was $1.38/L for regular in Saint-Laurent on Monday, but the PHEV of this definitely makes sense, also being the only PHEV available as far as I know. I think Toyota has a regular hybrid version of the Sienna, but that's about it.

Thanks to Mike Kiehler for letting us know that the all wheel drive teacher will be offered on the 2020, I have tried to contact Chrysler on several occasions to ask why all wheel drive was not offered even as an option for customers but never got a response thanks Mike..

    I have been thinking about buying a Mercedes e class wagon but they are very high priced and need premium fuel. The new pacifica burns regular gas and has as much or more room than the Mercedes wagon and is cheaper. I do worry about Chrysler's past and or present quality problems. I will keep an eye on Chrysler and Mercedes for some time before I buy my next vehicle.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  6 років тому

      That certainly is a valid concern, there's definitely a stigma around Chrysler's engines and reliability, but Mercedes can be just as bad. We've heard from a lot of viewers that find the latest round of Mercedes products have gotten a lot cheaper while the prices have increased. We really liked the Pacifica, it would be interesting to have this as a long-term review vehicle to see how it fairs after 24,000km.

      This is excellent! If Chrysler rolls out the AWD option, this will easily become our top pick for mid-size family hauling. It already is a fantastic vehicle, but our winters can be rough, and the added safety of AWD will only boost sales.

    • @robertweber3140
      @robertweber3140 5 років тому +2

      No need for AWD. First, its heavier. Second, if one tire goes bad, all four tires need to be replaced.
      It has been studied with the Toyota Sienna that placing dedicated winter tires on the front provide better tracetiin than AWD with all-seasons.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  6 років тому

    • @KjetilBalstad
      @KjetilBalstad 6 років тому +1

      Yeah, watching US reviews hurts so bad knowing most of the cars will be either unavailable or expensive as ****. And even worse, families in need of larger people movers are taxed more heavily than most of the smaller just for fun sports cars.
      There are no official Chrysler dealerships in Norway. However, at least one dealership imports the Pacifica from the US, hybrid limited only. Now, I just started researching this car myself as my good old Grand Voyager Ltd just died on me, so I have not found out if they have done any changes on it. We use the metric system, we use 220v, we need EU maps, and so on, so hopefully this can be adjusted for as this is the only available minivan in this class. Other than this we have smaller MPV's and larger, or rather boxier cars like the VW Caravelle.
      Here in Norway we love EV's, but having four children I need those extra seats, and the only option then is the Model X. Sadly the X just can't compare to my GV, to small or low in the rear. So, this hybrid large minivan option is really tempting.
      Only real drawback keeping me on the fence for now is the cars inability to tow.

    DON'T BUY A PACIFICA! If I can save one person from getting stuck with one of these my time is worth it. A warning to prospective buyers: I bought a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica with only 11,500 MI back in May. Since I purchased it the start-stop feature stopped working and the whole car just died at a stop. Got that battery replaced and automatic start stop still didn't work. Then a couple of months later I was driving on the freeway and the car started to stall and I couldn't control it as well. It had a warning alarm going off to service the power steering. I had the car fixed for that and then 2 weeks later I had the SAME problem plus like five other error codes such as service shifter, break not available, service electronic stability control etc. It won't drive.
    All Kia dealerships in my area are always backed up at least a week for service appointments (because they have so many problems)
    Most people don't have rental coverage and if they do they will not give you a rental until your appointment date so you do not have a car for over a week unless you are going to come out of pocket to rent one. I went on Chrysler Pacifica forums and saw all these problems people have with them such as not being able to turn off cruise control AT ALL when they are on the freeway and it even accelerating on its own or the car doing automatic emergency braking on it's own without cause on the freeway jeopardizing people's lives. So many complaints to the NHTSA. I'm considering selling the car now to CarMax and buying a different brand van. What's a shame is someone else is going to be stuck with this potentially unsafe and DEFINITELY unreliable car. I'm outside the California lemon law limits of 18 months or 18,000 miles so I can't go that route. This is just a huge headache! Save yourselves.

    This is a good video but you have a horrible millennial trait. The over the top hand movements when you address the camera are very annoying. It is too much "enthusiasm". You were likely taught that in some "public speaking" class but it makes you look juvenile. It is a fair criticism so don't get too bent out of shape over it.

      Yeah I never took a public speaking class, but I’m glad to hear you’re an expert presenter.
