Awesome content, I’ve got myself a 3rd gen 4Runner that’s 2WD too. Very curious to see if I could even go off-roading and over landing with it. Thanks for sharing this video, love the quality too!
@dingdongitsterry Thanks man!!! Absolutely bro, stick with the easy trails and you can absolutely do overlanding. If you check out michael tran’s channel, he’s been everywhere on his 2wd taco.
@@Skybusdriverdid you get your suspenion installed? I just orderd Bilstein 5100 and OME springs for my 2002 2wd lookn for about a 2" lift. Curious how your 2wd handles off road.
I was up there yesterday. Took my lady for her first trip and she loved it. Someone told me the road was open all the way the Bedford so I went to check it out. Found out it wasn’t open 😔. All in all a great spot for 2wd wheeling
Great video! I have a 98 2wd 4runner also. Basically stock besides the lift and bigger tires. Thanks for showing the capabilities of a 2wd! 🤙🏾 from Hawaii
I'm a retired telecom tech. We drove our work vans up to all the cell sites around LA and Orange County in a full loaded 2wd full size work van. In all my years, there was only two cell sites in Orange County that I couldn't drive right up to the cell site because of the terrain because they were so steep. I doubt if any stock 4wd would've made it either.
Nice! Do you think I can make it up in my Mitsubishi Mirage? It has small tires, but has 6 1/2 inches of ground clearance, and it's small, so it can avoid rocks, and it shouldn't bottom out too easy.. Maybe.
@@lockdot2 I don't know. I've never been to Santiago Peak yet in my 4wd 4Runner. Judging by some other places I've gone, 4wd is a must due to changing conditions.
You really don’t need 4x4 unless you’re doing some crazy ish. Have a Tacoma trd off-road. Never have issues on the trails I go, but I’m not rock crawling lol
Exactly what I thought would happen, I'm totally new to Toyotas. Bought my first 4runner 2 weeks ago,, 2001 4x4 3.4 6 cylinder.. I have 4 other jeeps that are also 4x4 2xjs, 1 wj, and 1 jk wrangler. But , the minute I first drove my 4runner It felt like a little tank, just drove different . The first thing that entered my mind was this thing feels so capable that I bet even a 2wd 4runner could do amazing things offroad as well.. So I view this video as validation of that idea. What say you ?
Awesome man good to hear! I love me some XJ one day. 2WD 4runners can definitely do some overlanding on fire roads and easy trails comfortably . Solid platform, it got the clearance and can flex pretty decently too. It would have to work a little harder if theres rain or slippery environments but if you travel with a group it’ll be fine 👍🏽

Just get a good set of all terrain tires man. check out Michal Tran’s channel, he’s been everywhere with his 2wd taco. Just pick easier trails and don’t wheel alone. You can do a lot with a 2wd truck/suv. 🤙🏽
Loved this casual vibe with the other guys in there, just calm guys enjoying their trail without trying to be cool or whatever.
Digged the video
