Arraez has been one of the most consistent hitters in the game since being called up. He shouldn't be playing 2nd Base, but still has a ton of value as a 1B/DH. This is all about the Marlins not wanting/not being able to re-sign him, so getting value out of him before that time comes.

Totally false about the Marlins management/ownership not trusting him. Obviously, asking somebody to repeat a .354 season is an impossible request but he is a .325 lifetime hitter and batting .311 in 2024. @mechanickzilla stated well, it is simply about the Marlins not feeling they could resign him and this season playoffs look impossible (after the awful start).

There is a reason why these trades almost always wait until the midpoint of the season. The vast majority of potential trade partners need more time to assess their needs before making a serious offer. If the Marlins internally projected Arraez to perform up to his career norms from May-July, they would have held onto him longer. Their actions show they had serious doubt about that and leapt at the opportunity to ensure they got something in return.

@@FishOnFirst Could not disagree more and you can only go with the current facts. His worst season was.294, the average hitter bats .250. He is at .325 lifetime. You have already seen this season he is over .300. This is not based on 1 or 2 years in the league. The assumption you are making (have not heard your theory anywhere about the Marlins) would be spot on if you referenced the Yankees. If able to unload Stanton (Impossible) because 2022-2023 he was a shell of himself and in 2024 his ability to run the bases is as bad as anyone on the planet. Luis has shown no regression. If he batted .280 last year and 2.41 thus far in 2024, everything you say would make sense. Watch how he does in 2024 and you will clearly see 10000000000000000000000 percent it is all about what @mechanickzilla stated in a previous post. It is not hard (really give it a chance), it is all about the dollar. If every player made the same money in MLB he would be a Marlin in 2024.

@@craigfenton4275 You and the mechanickzilla are stating the facts and the truth, have no clue (unless to get clicks) why Fish On First doesn't see what the rest of the world does. Let us make it simple D O L L A R S. Nothing in 2024 is showing regression.

@@craigfenton4275 Of course money is influencing the overall direction of the team. In regards to this particular trade and the timing of it, no. The Marlins are eating almost all of the money owed to Arraez and yet, the prospect return they received is not appropriate for an established All-Star player in his prime who is nearly 2 full years from free agency. Simply put, if Arraez was expected to continue living up to his career numbers, the Marlins would have gotten better talent in return.

@@FishOnFirst You keep stating something (it is not worth continuing) that is not based on facts. I can't spell it out any easier for you. Not that hard! Regression has to be based on fact. Once again (for the 3rd time) I spelled out his current average, career numbers, and last year. Nothing shows regression. Please understand the word. What will it take for you to realize they were going to lose him and wanted something in return, period period period. If it is August 1 and he is hitting .327 will that be okay or will you complain it is not .354 from last year? Please look up regression and the words fact vs. opinion.
