I never understand how a company can bring something with low quality like this on the market
Yeah I don’t get how Capcom could let this out to the public, but they’ve let a load of odd street fighter games out there
Exactly
And yeah that is true, but never completely broken products before, what the heck is going on down there. And I frickin Love Cappys for the most part. Disappointing
@@jayesun3420as good as Capcom is when they’re at their best, they’ve always allowed sub par things to also slip out there. Weird then that they cancelled the Game Boy Color Resident Evil port - which definitely would have been a weird port, but was also really impressive
Ford?
It’s “Psycho Crusher.”
A psychic crusher is someone who falls in love with the girl who just told him his fortune 😂
😂😂😂 that’s really funny. My bad though. I never play as Bison normally, but will always remember now because of the fortune teller 🙃
Nice Video ! Sub & Big Like ! And Love Retro Genesis Games !
Thanks! And that’s good - I’ve been playing another Genesis game for another video I’m working on right now
Yeah I just found you and subscribed. Me being a 1980 OG Original Gamer🤠
That's cool,I just found out about this gentleman as well, and yeah, subscribed.
Thank you! I appreciate the support! Lots more videos coming up about classic games 😃
@@jayesun3420thank you as well 😃
You should have more subscribers by now 👊
Thank you! Working on new videos every week so hopefully more people will find the channel
Great channel, your time will come 👍
Thank you! I’ll just keep making videos and hope they take off 😊
Well he certainly increased his chances with idk... 3000 channels? Plus... His time wont officially come until he someday shows up guest hosting with the opening line "Did You Know?".. because you know... British😉😋
@@quajay187 😂 maybe one day. Five channels is more than enough for now. But all different subjects and grinding at them slowly
"No diagonals challenge" lol
I got baited by janky arcade cabinets a few times. Tekken 2 with three buttons (no left kick), Soul Blade with no block and Tekken Tag with kicks switched so I had to rewire my brain every time I played those. My town has zero arcade machines, not even pinball so I mostly use emulators and retro ports released on various console compilations and PC. I modded a few controllers, including arcade sticks but the weirdest one I improved by switching parts was a hybrid of gamepad and stick for a plug-to-TV discman. It played audio and MP3s but also had a single CD with a set of NES classics. Mostly enjoyable due to no temptation of using quick saves but yeah, entire experience was not optimal.
That’s bad when companies sell games where the stick or buttons don’t even work. I’ve been on an eBay retro device buying spree and the last three things I got all have needed fixing
Never heard of this before. I learned some stuff. Can't believe MSI were making really good laptops at the same time as this e-waste. Great video 👍🏽
PS: It's "Psycho Crusher"
Thanks! And yes I’ve learned it’s Psycho Crusher now. My bad for not usually playing as Bison 🙃🙃
Great vid and the first time I've come across you. SUBBED.
Me too dude
Thank you! I’ll have some fun videos coming out over the next week and lots more weird Street Fighter games
@GeekBattleGaming I had the atrocious C64 version as gullible 15 year old. 🤣🤣🤣
@@ravengaming2597 I think maybe the C64 one may be the weakest, although there’s an argument for a lot of them
Always good when YT recommends something of genuine quality. Looking forward to going through the backlog or the SF vids :)
Just adding a comment for the algorithm.
You have nice content.
Subbed and good luck.
Thank you! Got some more fun stuffed planned 😃
New subscriber. Looking forward to checking out your content 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks! I’ve got some fun stuff coming up over the next week 😃
4way stick lmao instead of 8way 🤣🤣
😂 it worked so well as a four way stick I figured there had to be something hidden within
12:50 - "This is a plug-and-play that released in 2018, but doesn't have HDMI... It's not like HDMI cables are expensive after all."
Oh, hi, hello, hi. I think I can help.
HDMI cables aren't expensive... But the electronics to output a HDMI signal are, relatively speaking. Aside from the cost in the hardware itself, the HDMI standard is also proprietary, meaning implementing it requires you to pay licensing and per-device royalty fees. That adds up, especially for a novelty device like this where they probably aren't expecting to sell a massive volume.
There's possibly another factor at play as well. As you've said, this appears to be a version of Mega Drive SF2. That could well mean the chipset itself is a Mega Drive clone, and the Mega Drive of course did not have native HDMI support, so quite probably the chipset doesn't either. That means giving this HDMI support would essentially mean building in an analogue > HDMI converter, even more electronics (and so even more cost).
Basically, it will have been much cheaper and simpler for them to not bother with HDMI.
Thanks for the information. They’re all good points, but think if they paid for the license to Street Fighter 2, they should have found a way to go the extra mile to get it to display on modern TVs. No one still was rocking their CRT TVs, so effectively meant this was a product designed for no one by that point in time. Bad reviews lead to worse sales and people would be less likely to get their future products.
This was in the same timeframe where the Spectrum Vega was seen as insane for just using component, and all the mini consoles were using HDMI as standard for the same or lower costs. As well as all the cheap and low quality streaming boxes.
The bigger issue would have been to get the tech inside to display on HDMI as essentially it’s a mega drive inside, but MSI needed to see the bigger picture as all their plug and play devices needed to have upgraded by this point.
@@GeekBattleGaming Oh, I don't disagree, would've been better if they'd gone the extra mile!
Great video! Just subbed
I want to open it up and somehow wire in a second controller. Probably nearly impossible since it must be a system on a chip with a blob on it.
Thanks for doing these videos. Curious about future content!
The speed difference is probably, because it is a PAL version. You should have bought a US NTSC version
Ah that’s a good point - I’ll have to dig out my original Mega Drive copy and see the speed difference.
And yes I looked at it and wondered if it’d be possible to add a second controller somehow, but think that will beyond my ability. Maybe if I’m feeling brave one day 😂
Wow, Special Champion Edition was such a great port.... It's kinda amazing someone got payed to butch it when they could have done nothing instead, lol.
sound's like an atgames megadrive
It’d be interesting to find out if there was any connection to AtGames. I’d never heard of MSI before this so who knows and maybe they use the same hardware
my challenge was getting thru this video with the game show host / infomercial vocal cadence.
😂😂 thanks for the support. I’ll hire James Earl Jones next time
@@GeekBattleGaming Haha, fair enough brother.. I'm not saying you dont do a good job at it.. & I'll delete this cuz I dont want a diss hanging on your shit.. but I guess what I'm trying to say is, I see a lot of you guys adopt this very stiff.. "Proper Dramatic Cadence" old tv, kinda method of speaking.. & I just think it would be better & more accessible if you spoke in your normal conversational voice.. but then again, What the fuck do I know? keep on trucking bro. 🕶️✊
A 4-way stick?!? That is hands down one of the stupidest decisions I've ever heard of in my life. No specials, not even blocking low or diagonal jumps... how did Capcom approve this?
Thanks for making a video about this turd of a release. I've seen it (along with the rest of MSI's garbage) but didn't know how horrible it was.
Yeah I can’t figure out how they thought the plastic ring to limit the stick’s movement was a good idea for Street Fighter, but then again they didn’t even get the name of this game right lol. The box says SF2 and then it’s Special Champion Edition
Swap with sanwa parts 💀
*SFII Special Champion Edition* is one of my all- time favorite Genesis games, and a Great port in it's own right. So not a bad "base" to start from. If they had just left it alone and straight copy & pasted the Genesis game, that would have been a winner (and inside a Good controller shell!)
That's ridiculous, someone should sue!
They snuck this thing out a few years ago, so not sure what the response was at the time, but at least it could be fixed by removing the plastics stopping the stick moving lol
Another strange Street Fighter. The other pug and play isn’t much better
I’ll do a video of the next one soon
The circular gate is just dumb. Very rarely used and never used if you want the stick to be 8 way.
They must have made it for something else and no one got the memo in the factory 😂
best version is the arcade champion edition PERIOD!!!!
That’s a good choice. I’m not sure which my favourite version ever is. I have a soft spot for the SNES Street Fighter 2 Turbo but that’s probably just cause it’s the one I’ve played the most
even with how broken overpowered dictator was in this version, i don't think i would want to try playing this, not being able to jump over projectiles sounds like hell
It was actually a surprisingly fun challenge. Not that I’d ever plan to do it again 🤪
Raiyu:)
😂😂 I blame the Street Fighter Movie but yeah I pronounce it Reye-ooh and not Ree-ooh 🙃
this is actually the first version of the sega genesis
its not the one that got released but the first original beta (there where 2 betas)
this version was not made inhouse but by a subsidiary of capcom , when they said this version was NOT good so they scrapped it and remadeit themself
what this ppl did is grab that prototype (that is already on the internet) hacked a little visuals here and there... , took out the options menu and vs and here you go)
Same goes to the sound, the og prototype version had terrible sound.
so you are partly correct.
Ryu and ken moves DO NOT require diagonals, fireballs comes by doing d f, tatsumaki is d b, and shoryuken comes out with f d f easily.
about diagonals the problem is not the "rom" but the stick that its super badly made...
and no, this is NOT made by capcom, so they are not to blame here.
Capcom are to blame in that they let this company near their IP to make this substandard device. But Capcom have done that several times with the likes of Teirtex and US Gold for older versions of SF2.
Once the plastic was removed it became so easy to pull off the moves which you couldn’t do when it was on there
@@GeekBattleGaming its not a "legal" profuct, you cant blame Simeone if some guy steals something and re sell it
@@xTerrySunderlandx the crazy thing is MSI did officially license this plug and play. They made loads like WrestleMania Steel Cage Challenge and Frogger
@@GeekBattleGaming but its not licenced by capcom, its an MSI licence... , capcom has nothing to do here, in fact you cannot even see capcom logo nor the seal of quality they use on the box...
again you can blame msi for this product, but NOT capcom as this clearly is not made by them (same goes for the numerous versions of street fighter 2 on dif systems, you buy one of the NON capcom made ones its up entirely up the customer, as there is no quality seal).
you wont buy the terrible master system version, or the first dos version etc...
(also autolike/selfheart.... really?)
@@xTerrySunderlandx maybe you’re right. The bottom of the box has the Capcom logo and says “Game Pak by Capcom. Capcom USA Inc 1991, 2018 All Rights Reserved. licensed for use by MSI Entertainment LLC” but who knows, maybe they just put it there and didn’t get the license. From what I can tell from other coverage of it, no one else has questioned if it’s legit or not.
The joystick plate:so the game was rigged from the start...
There may be games where they just use four directions so maybe this was an oversight but putting the plate there really makes it impossible to use properly
Just do Joystick Mod on it to make it work on other Consoles
Hmmm I wouldn’t know where to begin with that
if you use a amp its super easy to get amazing footage.
I wonder if they used the PAL rom for it. That would explain the speed reduction!
That would make sense. I wonder if it uses the pal rom even on US editions
@@GeekBattleGaming I remember reading that the PS1 mini used a mix of pal and NTSC roms which is insane.
@@BordersDude yes that’s right it did. I wasn’t bothered by it as I had a PAL PS1, but it was silly for them to not use all the NTSC versions as even in PAL regions we can play US games now
Dosnt seem to be set to easiest, If I remember correctly you wont get the endings if it is less then 5 of 8 stars on the megadrive
Ah that’s a good point. Maybe they made it easier but still let you see the endings or I’m better at it than I realised lol.
If the difficulty is on the easiest, does that mean it has no Endings for the characters??
They locked it to just champion edition also so no turbo for you. This is not something anyone looking to actually play the game would buy anyway, just cheap crap. My tv broke the day I rented this on the Megadrive and I was such a big arcade fan that I was not going to return it so I put in a pair of headphones and picked bison and finished the game with out even seeing it, just using sound.
dude im a master in the game, with ken top dif , I walk in all the time and throw them lol ken is broken haha
I hate this thing! Not only is the emulation awful and slow, but the joystick broke within a few minutes of playing with it, and I'm a delicate little girl, how can a man play this thing without breaking it? Such a waste of money, plastic, and space.
I hope you were able to return it. Mine came off eBay and I expected that it would break 😂 I was able to keep it going so far, but almost ripped the wires when fixing it and that would have been much worse
@@GeekBattleGaming I didn't bother returning it, it was from a shop too far away for me to travel conveniently to. I'd like to leave it for a project for another day, maybe put a Pi inside it.
@@AmigaCammy I’ve never dabbled with Pis before. Would be interesting to see how it turned out
WTF is "Zed"
We say Zee and UK says Zed
wrong aspect ratio..... looks terrible in 16:9....
In fairness to it, it comes up correctly on my CRT TV, but if it goes widescreen as soon as you plug it into an HD TV that’s something they should have thought of
Ew gross. Non CPS1 street fighter 2.
I remember the arcades and calling the worker when a game’s buttons or joystick wasn’t working, so that they could put up a “Not Working” sign which would stop anyone else from wasting their money on that machine.
That’s what they should do to this product.
That would have been funny in the shops. Just a big sign over the pile of them saying broken😂
