- Hello! Thank you so much for watching my Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country highlight / condensed playthrough video. This was originally streamed on Twitch and has been edited exclusively just for UA-cam. This is the final part and in this video, we continue our way to the Auresco, the capital. The group then attends a conference with the Tornan King, High Prince Zettar and Quaestor Amalthus. After the audience, Malos arrives and attacks the capital with his Gargoyles. During the battle, we are saved by Azurda and Malos says that he will be waiting for us at the Tornan Titan for the final battle, and of course, this video ends with a very devastating finale which shatters my heart.
Thank you so much for watching this video and I hope you enjoy it! Appreciate if you could leave a like, comment and subscribe to the channel if you haven't to make your boy here happy! Have a great day, everybody!

♡ ABOUT THE GAME ♡
Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country is a 2018 action role-playing game developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch console. It is a story expansion to the 2017 game, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and was released both as downloadable content and as a standalone title on a physical cartridge.
The story present in the Golden Country takes place during the time when the Aegis Malos is wreaking havoc across the world. To combat this devastating threat, the Price of Torna awakens the other Aegis, Mythra, and sets out to stop Malos once and for all.

hi everybody! this marks the end of the entire xenoblade chronicles 2 and torna journey. thank you for giving me the chance to share this amazing experience with you all. you guys are amazing and hope you all are ready for xenoblade chronicles 3! toodles! (ɔ◔‿◔)ɔ♥
ps: i seriously don't know how did y'all endure the pain from this whole franchise 😂
At this point you accept it and wait for it to come does that make it hurt any less no but we roll with it
Well, it hurts but....not gonna lie, it hurts "good" xD
Btw I suppose you already know but just in case, the music piece you usually react most to is "Friendship".
That's what Xenoblade is known for. Even though we know what it does do us - we still go through the pain unprepared.
But that's what we love the franchise for, right?
Pain?
Mmm, I guess Xenoblade Chronicles 3 may be higher in some ways... you'll discover that soon enough. ^^
But don't worry, it's still a Xeno and there's still much more to enjoy too.
Have a nice trip to Aionios. ^^
…..we didn’t..
“So, that was the final boss?”
No. The final boss is the crippling despair and trauma that the game leaves behind in our hearts and minds.
Some to note is that Mythra's last item she learns to cook is quite good and shows that she was improving but that her trauma stopped that growth as that trait was given to pyra and many other things that Mythra thought she lacked in like being kinder or easier power control
The ending song is Lora singing, if you listen to the lyrics its her telling Jin to not be scared to love someone else and move on....he never did :(
he never didddd exactly... and it's just so sad that malos was the one who actually kinda helped him to move forward 😭
@@skyeifer The worst part is she keeps saying "You will be fine" and stuff because she loved him and had faith in him... He was never truly fine. He held a 500 year long candle for the only woman he ever loved and gave up everything just to be able to remember her. So she would not be forgotten.
On a side note go watch the scene when Jin kills Haze on Temperentia. It hits entirely different after Torna.
@@Spartan1312 Well, remember, she said she thought she knew what she would say when her death came, but couldn't.
So the song is all the things she wished she had said.
Yes, Zettar is the ancestor of Zeke. In the main game, his father tells him that they'r not descendants of Addam, but of a cadet branch. This means, the descended from a younger brother of the King of Torna, thus Zettar. We see the arrangements made between Stannif and Zettar at the end. So that's where Zettar sold his people to Amalthus and trade in himself being king for the isolation and coldness of Tantal.
and thank god that zeke didn't turn out to be an asshole like his ancestor!
What Haze says at the point of no return hurts so much more when you know the main game
Oh man I had forgotten that "MYYYTHRAAAAAAAAA", damn Malos Voice Act is ...........another level.
malos' VA always gave me chills!
So in the japanese version mythra while losing it and seeing the future says something along the lines of "somebody save me" not sure why it was changed to "I just wanted to save" but it still works both ways since you see shes clearly breaking mentally
omg that actually hurts even moreeeee 😭😭😭💔💔💔
They probably thought it leaned too much on the 'emotional woman has breakdown and needs somebody to save her' trope. Just my personal take
@@oneish7454 I mean she believes she just lost someone who was a little brother to her I think it's fair to be emotional
Actually the Japanese is ambiguous and can be interpreted both ways. Given the context that the previous sentence she says means “I don’t want to destroy” I think the official translation makes more sense here.
The entire sequence between the defeat of Malos and Lora facing Gort is my favorite scene in all the xenoblade games (tied with 1 other scene). Most of xenoblade has a lot of dialogue and narration.
But that sequence. It hits "show, don't tell" right on the head.
They don't mention Hugo dying. They just show you Addam crying and the cores on the ground.
When Lora hands the cores to the inquisitor, he hesitates. He was the one person who was supposed to be ready for Hugo to die. And it still hurt him.
Mikhail has dead eyes when he turns towards the camera. No one needs to say anything. You can tell Milton died in his arms.
When Mythra heads towards Milton, Addam starts stepping in front of her, then stops. He wants to be there for her, but he still doesn't know how to accept her. This was his problem that Rex was able to overcome.
When Mythra reaches for Milton, Mikhail just pulls him closed. This was the breaking point for Mythra. Seeing her go through this, you really understand why she was so full of self-hate in the base game. It's heartbreaking.
When Addam talks, he is more subdued. The death and destruction he had to endure has clearly taken a toll on him.
And, of course, Pyra. The game never needs to mention the transformation, only show that it happened. That's because the player already has all that context from the base game.
Though the dialogue in xenoblade is masterfully crafted, Monolith was able to make a beautiful scene with as few words as possible.
No spoilers, but that scene is only tied with a scene near the end of chapter 5 in xeno3. A short sequence plays with no words from the characters, and it's beautiful.
Wow, you actually read this far down? Sorry for rambling on, I just *really* liked those scenes (in case you couldn't tell) :P
i did read this comment until the end lmao! i actually love to read people's analysis and thoughts on a game. it just shows how passionate they are and it's just amazing! thank you for sharing! that's so beautifully written ❤️
When the Tornan king just turns to his brother who is begging him to run, and the King just shakes his head with a painful expression. God it hits so hard.
- Malos's boss theme here is an acoustic rearrangement of Amalthus's boss theme. It's a nice touch, I'm saying.
- Mythra was the one who convinced Milton to wait in Auresco - the way she saw it, (even though it was Malos who dealt the killing shot) his death was her fault. With that and the death's of the Titan and Hugo, it's no wonder Mythra generated Pyra and repressed herself.
- I can scarcely think of anything else in Xenoblade 2 that's as horrifying as Blade Eater Gort! And boy, is he mentally out of it...! Still, worth it to hear the theme of "Lora is pissed off" (a rearrangement of "The Power of Jin", even).
(Fun fact: Gort's HP is constantly whittling away in the battle, automatically. Stannif did say that Gort might not last long. Oh, and Team Lora can't be KOed in this one battle.)
- "Things can change. There's always hope." After the tragedies that unfolded in the ending...it's comforting that the final shot in this campaign is Rex, a boy who truly embodies hope. I'd say Lora had a point after all.
What really caught me during my own playthrough of Torna is when Emperor Hugo died protecting Addam. Addam was seen crying. If I was in his place, the thoughts that would go through my mind is 'Why did you do it? Why did you risk your life to protect me, a powerless driver. Someone who can't save anyone. Someone who cant control his own blade.' Man, even if Addam is much cooler than Rex, he was still powerless to control Mythra, the Aegis. Really quite the contrast with how Addam was depicted in the main game, saying that he is a hero.
Anyways, we're all just here to see you cry haha! Can't wait to watch your Xenoblade 3 videos
are you trying to make me cry againnnn 😭😭😭
Addam cooler than rex? You're out of your mind.
@@emperorpalpatine4953 Yup, Adel much cooler than Rex-Rex

lmao and i'm glad to know that i was not the only one who bawled my eyes out like this.
That end fight cutscene is so phenomenal, and as you pointed at, the choregraphy is flawless really. Loved being part of the journey! Also that ending T_T that song T_T I litteraly cant with this game why do I keep coming back to it, it hurts so much T_T
the song.. jin's speech.. the new title screen.. aaaaaaa 😭😭😭
This is hands down the best Torna reaction on UA-cam. Thank you for sharing your playthrough with us. I heard that you're currently going through Kingdom Hearts marathon and I can't wait to watch your reactions to all Kingdom Hearts games as it's one of my most favorite franchises of all time
wow thank you so much! that means a lot! and yes, i am currently playing kingdom hearts 2 and i think i'm very close to the finale, and bruh.. i thought kingdom hearts was supposed to be a happy game 😭😭😭
@@skyeifer YES OMG I LOVE KH it's just more DESPAIR along the lines of Xenoblade. xDDD
@@princessoscar3089 pooh and tron almost gave me an emotional damage 😭😭😭
That thumbnail though.
The moment Mikhail looked at her with his empty eyes. That' was the exact moment that broke me. And before it was Hugo, since I got really attached to him.
Congrats on beating this beautiful game and still being able to talk properly.
I can't wait for your Xenoblade 3 experience.
aaaaaa it's so much worse after you know what's gonna happen to mikhail in the main game! and thank you so much and i can't wait to share my xenoblade 3 experience with all of you!
Torna has to be the saddest game I’ve played. Honestly can’t think of something that affects me this much.
it is probably the saddest game that i've played as well... :(
the prospect of seeing a title screen for the last time, like you mentioned, hit very hard. i love these games with all my heart but its been a good while since ive sat through a title screen.
thinking about torna still makes me feel sad up until today 🥺
@@skyeifer the dichotomy of both main game and torna's title screen is just art. torna where we see the consequences of everything going wrong and base game where we finally see forgiveness and accepting of everything that had went wrong. like a generational curse was broken. like rex had said, "I won't let this world burn a second time."
You got me to tear up on this game again lol. As always looking forward to your reaction to Xenoblade Chronicles 3, loved the Xenoblade 2 journey!
yayyyy i'm so glad that i didn't cry alone haha! stay tuned for xenoblade chronicles 3!
The first fight with Malos is the best use of Counterattack (the name of the song)
As in torna fight or base game first fight because I think nothing tops that moment on the first fight cutscene in 2
@@RedTheWeeb the dlc
I don't want to make you cry more but the ending song is a letter to Jin from Lora

Torna is among the most painful video game experiences I’ve ever had 10/10 have played it countless times
it is paaaaaainful and heart shattering.... i haven't even moved on from it...
Man, I remember playing through Torna and loving it so much that I HAD to play through the main story a second time. I know it's quite a big time investment, but playing through the main story after experiencing Torna makes the base game even better than it already is! So many little things will make more sense and you'll appreciate a lot of Jin/Mythra moments so much more, thank you for the video 😊
hi there! yes torna is amazing and i have been rewatching some of the cutscenes from the main game! and thank you so much for watching, i hope you enjoyed the video 😊
Final boss phase 1: Over Despair and Animus (phase 2 is same as main game)
Ending theme: A Moment of Eternity
the ending theme is amazing and lyrics are so heartbreaking 😭💔
@@skyeifer a instrumental version is used for the title screen so you hear it everytime you boot the game so once you know the context you never forget
One of the best reaction of this beautifull story , no matter how many time It always gets me (i love that you see Rex as the end, is like beeing conforted by a friend after something bad and in the context of the story because you know that after all this despair comes hope.)
One detail that i really like Is that you can see core cristals on the torso of gort's mutated form , since is one of the failed experiment of indol for obtaining blade eaters.
Also i kinda feel bad for malos too, he does all this stuff because is his programming, and can't know better..until losing almost all of his powers and knowing jin.
(Still cant belive that zettar is the zekenetor's ancestor lmao).
hi there! thank you for watching this video! oh yeah, i just realized about gort's core crystal when i was editing this video and well, he kinda deserved it lmao. and as for rex.... oooof when i saw him at the ending, i just lost it hahaha i felt sad and relieved at the same time knowing that mythra and pyra can finally be awaken after 500 years... :( and ooof zettar can just rot in hell.
This Game and DLC broke me as well. I also put in 500 hours getting all the blades, and finding all the little things, lore, conversations and connections along the way. hi there! oh thank you so much and i'm so glad that you found my videos as well! very nice meeting you and i hope you will also enjoy my xenoblade 3 videos 😊
Malos' battle theme is a remix of Amalthus' battle theme from the main game. That really shows that here, he's nothing more than a slave to Amalthus' will. Only in the main game, he begins the question whether the impulses he had were his own, or someone else's. So cool.
wow i didn't tweak that! thanks for the info! 😲

The depressing part about Mythra feeling so guilty is that they NEEDED her full power, Malos was toying with them, the only way to beat him was for her to be able to use her full strength. But she never seemed to get that, so fixated on the destruction.
Which is why Addam felt he was the one that failed. He couldn't bring out her true strength because *he* was afraid, from the moment he resonated with her.
Congrats on completing the XC2 journey! And man, Torna is really depressing, I was crying along with you again LOL Whenever I look back at XC2, it's mind blowing how Torna is just a DLC story because of how polished it is (new gameplay, better voice acting/direction, improved graphics) to the point where it's just an entirely new game for me. That whole ending really changed my perspective on Mythra and made her one of my favorite characters of all time, the "I just want to save" line hits so hard every time. Super excited to see your XC3 playthrough! Keep up the great work 😊
hi! thank you so much! yeah after finishing this dlc, i just couldn't stop bawling my eyes out and rewatching the cutscenes in xenoblade 2. i felt super bad for mythra, but i also felt the same way for pyra too at the same time because she was made and shared the same feelings as mythra...
I like how when Mythra seals herself into Pyra she basically creates an alternate self who is everything she thinks people wanted from her - calm, friendly, kind, good at cooking, etc
Also that DAMN song while Jin's walking away
"Promise me that you'll walk again, won't you show me your smile"
"I know that you will be fine, just go on"
Definitely Lora's perspective about Jin
aaaaaa don't do this to meeee 😭😭😭💔💔💔
@@skyeifer Lol, sorry! I finished XC3 a few weeks ago and I'm still in the 'must find reactions' phase, it had a few moments I really enjoyed that got me and I can't wait for the OST. It's nice that they talked about the golden eyes again. Malos said it to Rex too in their first fight and than it is never brought up again. I thought it would be an important plot point but maybe Malos was just reminded of Addam. Pyra said herself that Rex and Addam are very alike. there is still the theory that Rex is a descendent of Addam but i am gald they didn't confirmed it. I like it that some stuff is left open for interpretation.
oh yeah i heard from some people's theory that rex is a descendent of addam. but i am wondering the most is where did addam go...?
@@skyeifer well he did go to leftheria, put the Aegis sword away and established fonsett. Maybe with the tornan survivers than he left Azurda in charge of protecting it and vanished from history. Only leftherien could get through the doors on bord the tornan ship in which pyra sleeps so I think Rex had to have at least tornan blood in him.
This DLC hurts A LOT, and add a LOT of context to the main game! Even if you go watch the first scenes of the main game, how Gramps and Jin interacts, and some other dialog has so much more meaning
Torna is such and amazing story ❤️ I cry every time
this whole experience hurts like hell! even thinking about it still makes me teary :(
@@skyeifer i know that feel 🥹
Yeah the writing of the main game is elevated to a whole other level once you've played through it once and have played Torna...
Vandahm recognising that Nia's a flesh-eater, and letting her know that he still accepts her while still keeping it unknown to everyone else is a personal favourite.
But yeah the Azurda/Gramps, Jin, Mikhail, Malos and Mythra interactions are written incredibly well, and translated with incredible care and consideration of the story.
Also, Laura was the oldest protagonist by a long stretch across the series (to that point in time anyway), and the characterisation shows so well in her writting.
@@nhodgie oh shoot i missed it when vandham recognising nia's a flesh eater! did he really???
@@skyeifer yeah Nia goes to explain to Vandahm about her past, and he stops her and says it doesnt matter what you were/did your here now, regarless of that core crytal on your chest (or something very similar). Evwryone interprets him to be referencing rex and pyra, but he's pointedly letting Nia know it's ok without letting the others know as it's clever double speak.
It's just after the akhos single fight in uraya if you want to rewatch it specifically. Around the 40:00 mark in your chapter 3 video

Fun fact the torna titan's interior is the only place that indoor attack aux cores are useful the ones you got earlier where trash up to that point only for the final boss to be outside again
Torna is an amazing experience. So sorry you had to go through the painful tragedy.
Not sure if this has been said before, but when Malos is fighting with Addam, he notices and points out his yellow eyes. The same thing happens in the first fight scene between Malos and Rex. People have speculated that Rex is a descendant of Addam due to the fact that they both have yellow eyes.
hi there! oh yeah i noticed the golden eyes and i also suspected that rex is a descendant of addam! it's just amazing ❤️❤️❤️
The ending with Gort is probably the most unsettling piece of media that doesn't come from horror that I've experienced.
he definitely looked gross!
@@skyeifer i don't necessarily mean Gort himself, the whole scene in general.
Notice his weapon. It's a fist with talon-like swords. Just like Mumkhar. In case you where wondering.
I believe Malos didn't forget about Jin. Maybe he didn't recognize him at first since he was hidden and had an hood on. Moreover he couldn't know that Jin became a flesh eater, so even if he recognized him, he'd think that Jin can't know who he is
oh yeah that's true that jin had his hood on! i honestly forgot the detail of the scene lmao. but that makes sense!
No.. I think Malos recognise him when they met again but in that state?? Even Malos have sympathy for Jin and decide not to bring it up but we dont know afterwards.. just my 2 cent.
@@zultriova89 with "maybe he didn't recognize him at first" I meant really the first bunch of seconds, before seeing his face. As soon as he sees Jin's face of course he recognizes him.
But it can also be as you say, that he recognized him even before talking to him
Malos definitely changed after the last battle in Torna. He was severely weakened in the aftermath of the fight and he seems to become more introspective and self-aware of the nature of his driver’s influence afterwards. In TTGC Malos was a vessel for the hatred Amalthus held for humanity, but in the years between that and the main game he comes to feel for Jin and, I think, and they see themselves in each other. That is their bond. Like Jin said, Malos was still searching for his own identity, independent of his driver’s influence. When Malos gives the impassioned speech about Jin wanting to die, but not being able to, it could be interpreted as Malos feeling that way too. There is still a part of Malos that does not want to be the destructive, evil force that the influence of Amalthus made him. The only way he sees to end his and Jin’s suffering is to wipe out their existence along with the rest of Alrest. An interesting thing to note is that before Malos extracts Pyra’s memories he is not aware of Aion. And in TTGC Aion awakes only briefly and it is for Mythra. Aion is the artifice capable of the destruction of mankind, so if Malos truly was ordained by the architect as the endbringer, like he claimed, then would he not be aware of Aion already?
@@thebristolbruiser Well, Pneuma and Logos weren't supposed to *be* blades. So their memories in general seem fuzzy. Probably in part due to their drivers' influence.
I think Malos also became...humbled in a way. In Torna, he views himself apart from humanity. Above them all. In the base game, by the end, you see he doesn't see himself above humanity at all. Everything he judged humanity for in Torna, he embodies. And realizing this, he views himself as equally guilty, equally worthless.
But Malos also forms bonds, actual friendships, in his own way. He has something he cares about. And so, he takes on a curious role. He believes that the world isn't worth saving, but he doesn't WANT to be right. He WANTS to be beaten, in a way. Funnily enough, he kinda reminds me of Master Asia from G Gundam, who similarly took on a belief that man wasn't worth saving and fought for that but in the end, he didn't want to be right, he wanted to be beaten.
I recommend a video by luxin that explores the aftermath of TTGC and how each party member had their own impact
This was the vid I was talking about

I hope that Xenoblade 3's 4th wave of DLC is this, if not more levels of emotional. I also still have many questions from the base game that I want answered.
if it's gonna be emotional like this, i'm gonna have to send my medical bills to monolithsoft 😂
@@skyeifer But do you regret the journey even with the sadness? This game makes you feel things most games can only dream of.
@@Spartan1312 i don't.. depressing shit is my thing 😂
I firmly believe that Jin’s final message to Azurda was telling him that if they ever met again, Azurda would have to kill him. Jin was no fool. I’m sure he could well foresee the toll living on would have on him. It is probably why, despite knowing how, at least 1 previous Jin had never become a flesh eater.
If you watch the cutscene where Gramps saves Rex, you notice that as soon as Gramps and Jin recognized each other, Gramps came around for an attack and Jin gripped his weapon. Gramps fired a few blasts, the first ones creating a distraction for the final blast which was aimed directly at Jin, and which Jin had to deflect with his sword.
I believe that blast was directly intended to kill Jin, and that it was fully capable of doing so had it not been blocked.
Azurda tries to honor Jin’s final request
Monolith Soft is fairly reluctant to kill off major characters permanently in the mainline games and often pulls its punches with the most shocking twists, for some reason. In particular, I've been a little sore for years about how XC2 snuck in a happy ending in the last seconds of the game, partially undermining the otherwise incredible final chapter. So imagine how delighted I was when they didn't hold back with Torna and allowed it to fully commit to the tragic consequences it was building toward!
The game is also shockingly fleshed out for a DLC expansion as well.
Torna has given me perhaps unrealistically high expectations for the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC, as such.
i am so excited for wave 4 dlc as well, but oh boyyyy i couldn't imagine if they had given us a sad ending in xenoblade 2 lmao!
Imo, there is only really one scene in XB3 that reaches the levels of XB2. But boy, that's one of the best and most emotional cutscenes out of all Xeno games to me.

She came from poverty and was made a knight, and fought just as hard as everyone else against Malos, but other than Jin who keeps her memory alive and her corpse with him on the Monoceros, and Pyra/Mythra who don’t really know her extremely well, she goes largely forgotten to time. Think about it:
Brigid survives
Aegeon survives
Pyra and Mythra survive
Addam is held as a hero of legend
Mikhail survives
Minoth survives
Malos survives
Hugo dies, but he’s royalty, there no way he won’t be remembered
Haze unfortunately survives and is captured by Alamthus.
Lora really fought with the best of them but is largely completely forgotten to history…it’s so sad..

@@skyeifer lol yes

Hugo and Milton were my favorite characters...
they were precious to us all... 😭
I was hoping for reactions during the Malos Artifice fight, but everything got cut out...
oh the final battle??
@@skyeifer Yes. Your reaction to the small cutscenes of the Artifices fighting each other and when Malos' Artifice gets smashed onto the battlefield, knocking everyone down.
aaaa i'm sorry. i cut it out because i looked possessed like most of the time 😂
I'm not one much of watching streamers and the like but yours got me hooked the whole way through. I felt it very genuine. Plus it helps you are pretty cute hah

oh for xenoblade 2? yes i did but not all of them! i liked vess and wulfric!
I love how much you hate No.1 Himbo's ancestor... he really is depicted as an unredeeming character.
omg i was clenching my fist the whole time i wanted to get inside my screen and punch him in the face 😂
So when does xeno 3 come out
it will be uploaded next week! stay tuned hehe :)
To stave off some of the sadness a lot of people in the fandom think that mythra and rex named their child either Milton or Addam and I hope it's something like that
okayyy, that makes things even sadder! hahahaa but thank you for the info and i hope so too!
