I love bowser so much more in this rather than the mainline games. Instead of being a one sided bad guy, he's sly, cunning but caring. He actually has dialogue and a personality here and I love that.
Bowser is still a bad guy here, and he was a bad influence on Bowser Jr., who in this game they wrote out of character to be much more hostile like his father than he usually is.

He shows his sillier side in the Mario bros movie
This story is so interesting to me because it shows how Jr. went from a brat to a good leader. That moment on the beach when Jr. realizes his mistakes really hits hard.
Well, the gameplay is awful and they wrote most characters inconsistent with the rest of the series (especially Bowser Jr., who was made much more like his father than he usually is for a over the first hour of these cutscenes, just so they could be paralleled and used for comedy while ignoring the reasons why he did it until later on (thinking none of the minions actually cared about him, he is basically a tsundere, he just wanted to act like he thought his father would want)). That and the Koopalings and Kamek were made to be patronizing hypocrites, and yet they never apologize for their wrongdoings, especially Roy who goes as far as outright showing he is a hypocrite. Some things just didn’t add up either.
Overall, it was a very poorly written story outside the references.

That beach scene bro 1:37:35..................it hit me HARD in the heart man!!! I'M LAUGHING AND CRYING AT THE SAME TIME!!! What made it so perfect, MORTON, that loveable screwball stayed by his side to the bitter end. It sure was an emotional heart warming moment for Jr.

I wouldn’t call this development. They wrote Bowser Jr. out of character for most of it, having him act much more hostile like his father than he usually is just for the sake of this story. The “development” was stuff he already had.
@@WickedBowserJr The Mario series is kind of infamous for barely having a plot, and a lot of the characterization isn't very very deep either, with a lot of characters suffering from the "depending on the writer" trope depending on the game, and while Junior is more consistent than most characters, he's still not immune to ocasional differences in writing. I think they made Junior a jerk in the beginning of this because the payoff would be bigger that way, and honestly? I'm fine with it. To me it doesn't negate his other cool moments, in fact I think this game adds to it by expanding his point of view and his relationship with Kamek and the Koopalings, but that's just my opinion.

I truly love how even though he is supposed to be evil bowser is a good father and how he even treats the koopalings as his children even though the are not and how the koopalins in return treat bowser jr as there brother its really touching.

This whole story and gameplay was made with so much love, you can see how much care was put into each character and each cutscene and the writing is just as good as what we’re used to, this feels like an entirely new m&l game story-wise, all the character interactions are great, seeing the Best Fitness Friends interact with Midbus? With bowser Jr? Fantastic!
Theres just one problem: why the hell didnt Midbus have a bigger role? He could at least been fought once. Give the pig some respect

Back in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, if Bowser’s Papercraft is built, then why can’t they just build Dry Bowser’s Papercraft?
Actually Bowser didn't adopt them, they work for him, hence why they call him "Lord Bowser" or "Bowser" but they never called him "Dad."
The Koopalings were introduced as Bowser's actual children. Them just being generals was a retcon thrown in so that Jr. could be Bowser's only child (that, and I suspect Mario's handlers realized the non-family friendly implications in Bowser having 8 radically different lookings kids while also wanting to marry a beautiful princess).

I mean its like the dragon ball universe when it went from ball to z to gt, but when super came out the removed gt and made it to z to super. Universes that have waaaay to many differenced make me hate them in a way that it feels pointless to follow if they change it too much. Like the dc and marvel comics. The only exception is the avengers because they followed and made a single point that everyone can follow.

I like how junior is the leader leader of all the minions. And I like how Junior just wants his dad’s approval and for him to be proud of him, but he gets a little bratty about it.
This side game was done EXCELLENTLY especially the cutscenes, im not done with the the game, but so far, i have nothing negative to say abou this side story, it adds so much personality, to the koopalings and bowser jr. The character developement is very well done, especially when jr. learns that hes driven all the koopalings away, that moment, even if there was no dialogue, would still have an amazing effect with the story, because of the fact that, the drumsticks morton gave him was the object of value that triggered the memory of him getting poisoned. I REALLY love all of the dialouge, its extremely well done

The Koopalings and Kamek are the backbone of this story, really enjoyed them, also big plus for the development on Jr. Not a a fan of bff though, they got old quickly. Overall a fabulous journey, more Koopalings, Jr and Kamek story pls.

Bowser Jr is still learning, he’s sometimes to much of a troublemaker, even for Bowser, he had some development throughout this Journey, it’s helped him see there’s more to be grateful for, but as the text at he end said, his mischievous side is still within him
Nintendo always said it, the team behind the M&L games were some Mario-Nerds and that made this series unique.
The humor, the characters, how well the Mario Franchise is represented, lol even in Paper Jam! (maybe too much in that one)

I'm not a fan of how the Koopalings were used in the latest games, but I love most of the cast here. Roy and Ludwig are my favorites.

The writing was pretty bad for the first half of the game, not even fully consistent with the previous entry (Bowser’s Minions). Roy is an air-headed bully, and a hypocrite above all else.

I remember getting annoyed about Bowser Jr's debut in Super Mario Sunshine, because I already knew that Bowser had kids.
None of this really makes sense anymore, but as an old head I'm grateful for stories like this that at least attempt to bridge that Gap.
To me, Bowser Junior is just Baby Bowser with a bandana and a ponytail. I remember not seeing the Koopalings for years and years because Bowser Jr was created.
Mario games just don't make sense yo. You gotta take what you can get, that movie should have definitely highlighted that.
In fact I'm going to make a wild guess here, but I bet you the reason we didn't see Bowser Junior or the Koopalings in the movie it's because people are split on whether the Koopalings are Bowser's kids or not lol

Probably because the sales of the game were not so... you know. But this game is incredible and I think every Mario fan should know about it, even though there’s not a defined canon in Mario games. Except maybe for Mario Odyssey and all the games that are shown in Bowser’s memories.
I love how Bowser is in this game! He’s willing to save the Mushroom Kingdom but only for his benefit. And Peach finally makes a cake for him! Bowser has always been my favorite.

Well in the stage scene of the main game, as well as in his throne room, we see that there is spikes holes in his chair by design, so I would think his bed would have them as well

Easily one of best stories in Mario games, rivaling Bowser’s Inside Story itself. It’s obviously not as good as Super Paper Mario, but it’s still really good.

They did them justice, and now they’re gone... Thanks AlphaDream.
The Koopalings were always fleshed out characters, the issue was that Nintendo was always using them wrong by using them as bosses when they don't deserve to be fought, they limited what they did with them. The Koopalings really belong as the main characters of their own little spin offs alongside Bowser Junior and the minions since their personalities are perfect for it, and this game proved it! Meanwhile, the series' usual main characters are just... not as appealing to me and boring and, in a way, annoying to me... I miss AlphaDream, but I'm thankful for the fact they were the only ones to answer my many calls after all these years I wanted a Koopaling game, this was the closest I've gotten to that and I love every bit of this game.
