Preller needs to be careful. While waiting to dumpster dive, prices are going up and up. Soon he’s gonna be paying premium prices in the dumpster. In the meantime, the contracts he gave out are looking better and better. Too bad the spending money doesn’t seem like it’s going to increase. That’s a big problem for the Pobres. Tatis contract was the best bargain.
@@JumboJuneau I don't think that's what AJ is counting on. Once again he is in a financial position of waiting until spring training to see who is released and who is still looking for a job. Seizing on that he will do his usual offer of very little money on a 1-year contract, just like he did with Profar, only he's looking to do that with more than one position this time. He'll be relying on pure luck, both with a couple starters and a bench.
Fernado in rf scares me a lil some reason right feild padres have bad luck with their legs out their. Tony Gwynn lost his knee cartilage playing right, wil myers had leg problems, nado with his stress fracture idk but nado when he hit 41 hrs was playing SS he was able to play most of his games at short.
@@irie-fan-geek1624 Tony was overweight and wouldn't admit it. That definitely added to his knee issues. Will Myers was just flat out injury prone. It didn't really matter where you put him, he was going to get hurt anyway. Some guys are just like that. Fernando's problem with shortstop wasn't with the fantastic plays, It was with the routine plays, specifically the routine throws. A full season at short stop would have seen him leading the league in errors every season unless he practiced his D everyday which I don't think was going to happen. I think he's better off in right field, stay in shape and off the juice. He just needs to work on hitting consistently throughout the season for extra bases and HRs.
@mike-vq8zw I think we can all agree that Hosmer was a mistake if El Gallo was left at first who knows what his career would have turned out to be. I'm just trying to say that it's been a bad Trend with Padre right fielders been watching this team my whole life I bleed brown and gold
Giants are spending money. Ben you thought we had the better team when Giants won the division and when we missed the playoffs in 2023. Let’s see how it plays out. Wait to see…
The owners have told Preller they can't go over $170 million this year. They're at 169 million right not before arbitration. What are you going to do Padres!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Giants have money to spend especially after letting Snell go. I doubt seriously they're done with this. With the Padres well known limitations financially, this may end up being a three-way battle for a wild card out of the West. I look for Arizona to bounce back, I think the Giants will improve but I don't think the Padres will. I look for them to take a couple steps backwards actually. Arizona may end up with the best pitching of the three. Asking the Padres to repeat last season after losing key players from 2024 I think is asking a little too much. As it stands right now my pic would be Arizona to come in second.
@brando7266 Yes Brando and I also knew you would chime in, you do know we're talking about THIS season though don't you ? Hard for me to talk about Padre baseball right now after watching two excellent college football games today.
@@brando7266 I believe by getting rid of Snell they got rid of 30 million and this guy only cost 20 million so they should have another 10 million to play with before they even find themselves spending more, and I think you can count on that. @@brando7266It makes sense for the buyer, but it wouldn’t make any sense for SD because you guys are trying to win. Replacing a player of his caliber is going to cost you more than his contract + 300 million. Thats how cheap his contract is.
@@brando7266 Every star has a cheap contract compared to Soto by comparison, so much that Preller’s bad contracts will age well. Does that make Preller a good GM? No.
Tyler Fitzgerald is pretty good with more upside as a hitter. Casey Schmitt is a good young guy that can cover for both. Giants corners are settled. I don't think Kim and his contract wants makes sense after the Giants signed Adames. Giants have a Matos, Ramos, and Jung Hoo Lee for their outfield-good hitting potential. Giants are going for a big Pitcher
@rexjaime8052 if they are SMART they will go for more pitching, QUALITY PITCHING. YOU NEVER HAVE ENOUGH OF THAT. That's something the Padres have never learned. It helps having a catcher calling the shots now, he is well aware of the importance of pitching. You can always pick up a utility player from multiple teams but get your pitching now cuz very little of it will be available later on which means you are going to pay a much higher price for it when everyone else is in need at playoff time. Something else the Padres have never learned. They pay through the nose to get what they want at trade deadlines.
@jdsthird The only thing keeping this farm system from being dead last are two players . If AJ doesn't start drafting from the colleges and leave the high schools alone there won't be any help for quite a while from this farm system. By help I mean players he can trade not players he can groom and prepare for the Padre club to keep the payroll naturally low.
You guys aren’t getting anyone dude 😂. Only slashing payroll. Stop living in fantasy land. Sadly as a dodgers fan this year is the last dance between our rivalry after king and cease bounce. If you guys were smart you’d trade both those guys and flood your farm system

I’m fine with Kim walking. It’s been good, but his services aren’t completely necessary with what we already have
At least the Giants didn't hand out a 10 or 12-year contract and 300 million.
Go Giants!
@@mike-vq8zwmaybe they'll be over .500 this yr, with a higher payroll than us,
By the time Tatis’ contract is up, Pobres are going to have a “good” player making the same amount of money as Tatis.
Preller needs to make meaningful moves. It seems more and more like he doesn’t want Sasaki to come to SD.
I think I remember Boston was asking about Kim last offseason .
