if you like airplanes your in, if not dont bother go and buy Trumpeter model kits, far better selection, airfix was good in the 60s when it was in london, now hornby just use the name
I'm quite impressed with it. But one thing has bothered me. Those nice looking 'destroyed building' kits are in 1/48th scale while the vehicle range is 1/35th scale.
I made loads of the vintage classics when I was a nipper. I`m 61 now and still remember the flash and crap molding that was on those kits then !! I recon they have a warehouse full of unsold kits from the late sixties, Early seventies they are dieing to get rid of. I remember these 72 scale kits where only 1 shilling and 6 Spence for a series 1 ( Less than 10p ) and half a crown for a series 2 ( 25p ). 72 scale Lancaster, Flying Fortress and the like was a massive 10 shillings !!!! ( 50p ). I only got them for birthdays or Christmas....
Great selection, some of my kits go back to the 60s and in there original packaging and yes I am a little slow to make them up, thanks from down under in Wairoa New Zealand

Hope more old vehicles will be re- issued or even new tools. I love the 1/48 Bedford and Albion they did a few years ago. The Classics are great too -im getting quiet a collection which i was unable to get before and now there got the great old artwork 😃

Come on Airfix, in 1/72 and 1/48 scale please. Never was a model of H.M.S Birkenhead (of 'Women & Children First' fame'), or one of 'Check Point Charlie' & a section of the Berlin Wall. These items should sell really well - what has happened to the forward planning in the 'think tank' at Airfix ?....
Mate.. Ive screamed at the manufacturers about space.. With one of the biggest space races since the moon happening, no new rockets, space vehicles, not even the Soyuz rocket to build.. Its crap.. Total see where you are coming from..
I noticed that airfix is bringing back in their classic range the Val dive bomber but also noticed that the company came out with a Kate Japanese Navy torpedo bomber that is retooled so I was wondering why doesnt the comapany retool its old Val kit that came out in 1968 again an come out with a new molded one with recessed panel lines an so forth ?
Tried to order the color chart ( with actual paint chips?) to replace the 20+ year old one I've worn out; Airfix USA didn't know what the hell I was talking about; didn't even have it as being an option to purchase. Couldn't make out the info flag across the FRS 1 picture; can someone help? Glad to see the HC4 back; would like a version backdated to Falklands era. The HAR 3 starter set in a yellow scheme? Can't imagine what a nightmare trying to hand paint yellow acrylic is. An overall grey scheme would be better; maybe not as "exciting", but beginners would get better results if trying to hand paint.
I bought the complete line 30 years back, finally got time to build them all. King George V has amazing detail, so does Repulse. Belfast likely the most detailed model warship they still make although Hood remains the most handsome IMO. Cheers all, take care of you & yours.

Some nice new kits that only stay in production five minutes which then reappear a year later for five minutes with a different set of decals.

That bedford was a great it.. i think there is a lot of life left in the kits that are reboxed as vintage classics

It's nice to see Airfix coming back so stronlgy with new toolings and new models, but why is their engraving so heavy with the 1/72 plane models?
Yes its always been the case but that does help with painting and keeping the lines

I think its a way of bringing them back as a vintage classic, but im sure if they sell well they might even retool it
