This is the first time this will be written, so I take credit. If you have been to a live Neil and Crazy Horse concert, then you know the following: It is as if your head is pierced into Neil's chest, and you hear his heart beating and his soul screaming into yours. That, my friend, is what a Neil and Crazy Horse concert is like!!!!!!!!!
This version, of this song, made me realise that Neil Young isn't just a songwriter, and Crazy Horse isn't just a group of musicians.... they are Thunder and Lightning.
Any time you see Neil play a guitar solo, it looks like he's thinking "let's twat this thing and see what happens". Fortunately, it always sounds fucking great.
The message in the song is very strong. Custer didn't stand a chance. But the Native people suffered for this for the rest of the Century. "When the Soldiers won a battle it was a victory, When the Indians won it was considered a massacre. No justice in protecting your own land.
am 55 yrs old, and i grew up with neil young, john fogerty, bob dylan, and it's great that these rockers are still kicking ass. compared to the shit that out there today, a'll keep on listing, old stuff, and new stuff. these guys are great.
This is spot on neil young and crazy horse! I've watched this video so much over the last almost 20 years it's been on the internet. I just can't watch it enough! So powerful, so loud! So crazy horse! Long live the horse!
There's moments when everything locks in just right on a performance, random to hit it so perfect, and they fucking nailed it here, glad it was filmed.....
No matter what Neil writes , it comes from his heart . The words he sings are powerful, beautiful . He is a good man . They are hard to find these days . I like the way he attacks his guitar. We love you Neil 💗.
One of the most astounding live performances by anybody, anywhere, any time. Remarkably fortunate that this got captured for history. A relatively obscure newer song yet PERFECTLY conveys everything great about the Horse and him. Everything.
No-one plays a guitar and make it sound like Neill does. This is great but my all time fav. is Like a Hurricane - live 1986. The intensity is just awesome.
I'm sure you will :-) (and also to "motion picture" and "danger bird", certainly). What is fine in the expression "from times to times" is that the amount of time can vary.
Unbelievable version of a unbelievable song. Neil is the man. I was lucky enough to see him in concert twice in the last six months. An experience to last a lifetime, and my 11 year old son got to see Neil for his first concert ever. Awesome
how many years !!! late 60's till 2014 ! he is still rocking in his own free world ! and he gave us strenght to go on loving life / His 2 children were born handicaped ! imagine his life tests as a musician . Great man !
I was there at this concert. It was mindblowing. At that time "Going home" was a new song, I heard it for the very first time. Great show at Montreux! Before Crazy Horse hit the stage The Black Crowes played a few numbers.
A few years ago I created a playlist of Neil Young's rock songs (in to the black). I always listen to it with great pleasure. Great Uncle Neil thank you very much !!!
Such amazing individual man, with all the songs written by Neil. Hopefully he inhenced your life and my as well. Good to see a good rock song. One good gig can change the music we all listen to. A truly generational person. I am goin home to see the good life we all have to share. Be kind to one and another.
this is my idol..... I saw him 2 years ago in monreal.... and it was my best show.... I have to say I loved him more that the rolling stone's show... what a great artist... and the voice... and I want to say he figures in the best guitarists in the world... ...
I attended this show in Montreux in July 2001 - the whole show was filmed with at least 4 or 5 professional TV-cameras! So there definitely should be the whole show on video somewhere on this planet - but who knows in whose archives the stuff is hidden... maybe it's the Swiss TV station DRS??
Yeah, specifically and in general, there has been some totally cool stuff come out, like the 3 volumes of the Archives, all of which continue to be an ongoing experience. There's some cool early Neil & Crazy Horse on the album, "Early Daze" that will show that "in-the-moment" thing which is both the both subjective and group experience that Neil seeks; the band and audience synthesis. I saw him at the Paramount in Seattle in 1987 do an acoustic set of songs like, "Don't Be Denied", "Albuquerque", "Cowgirl", "The Loner" & other stuff. One remarkable song was Neil at a pipe organ, Saw Neil Young and Crazy Horse at Key Arena, Seattle in 1981. Those 2 shows were like 2 sides of cameleon musician who Plays in the Moment. This is A rather strange but wonderful place and time for him and the rest of us. As a long time listener of Neil Young's music and Sharing, I continue to appreciate his presence. As a musician, there are at least 3 things that spring to mind: 1) The Music, 2) The understanding of a great musician's idea of "Playing In The Moment", and the provisionally-held theory, as experienced: 3) It's All Music. Which is good news for me, because if it's all music", then the musician doesn't have to play every day. Although I end up playing everyday anyway. Happy New Year, 2025! Most of us have it together enough to keep it together. Later!
Just wonderfull. The best cool rock you can get.Neil Juang is a world monument.Through the years he put so much joy in my heart. All I can say is THANKS NEIL
amazing guitar riff...neil is god, one thing i can look forward to when i get old is being in the old folks home singing and jamming his tunes..he never stops...amazing.
I attended this show in 2001. The swiss audience was a bit reserved (as usual :-)). But after this song the ice was broken. Incredible performance by the Horse and Neil - i get chicken skin everytime I listen to this .... thanx so much for posting!!! And: yes, it was L. Cragg on the piano
Another amazing Native American themed (Pocahontas, Cortez et al..) song sandwiched into the R&B tinged "Are You Passionate" album. This tune grows on me over time, like a great NY song does. 2nd verse sounds like he's talking direct to David Geffen. By the 3rd verse, it feels to me that Neil affirms life is much more than $ and distractions (maybe he meditates?!) 6:18 "Battle drums were pounding all around her Car...She saw her clothes were turning into Sky and Stars" = Good Chills!!!!
again and again this is stunning- much better than the studio version and truly on of the moments in Rockn Roll. Send me back to 2001! long live the horse!
Oh man! This one is going on the Play List for LIVE RUST!! What a great tune, The Chorus is so simply but the melody is typical, magic Neil!! Thanks for sharing the Video.
This is just one heck of a Track! the guitar playing is just brilliant! almost on par to Like a Hurricane. I first saw this video on the Neil Young website, now that I have disscovered a way to save You Tube Videos to PC or Disc I have just saved this one. Magic!!
Para mi ,en esta canción se concentra toda la energía y toda la pasión de Neil Young. Es una versión épica y memorable con un Crazy Horse que cabalga libremente.¡ Fantástica ! Y Crazy Horse, está desbocado

They played this August 2013...
This is wonderful.
Beautifully written ‼️
This version, of this song, made me realise that Neil Young isn't just a songwriter, and Crazy Horse isn't just a group of musicians.... they are Thunder and Lightning.
Neil Young l love you❤
I agree , I was telling my buddy. This is how I feel. I had tix for the Hollywood Bowl, sadly the tour was cancelled

Any time you see Neil play a guitar solo, it looks like he's thinking "let's twat this thing and see what happens".
Fortunately, it always sounds fucking great.
I keep telling you all that, Neil Young is a freaking genius!❤❤❤
I believe you!
The message in the song is very strong. Custer didn't stand a chance. But the Native people suffered for this for the rest of the Century. "When the Soldiers won a battle it was a victory, When the Indians won it was considered a massacre. No justice in protecting your own land.
Neil Young is playing this song like his fighting for his dear life. So much passion and so much power it's touching.
❤NeilYoung!
Born To Rock
Planets get in alignment to hear Neil and the Horse rock so hard...Crazy Horse is the vehicle that Neil drives to another world.
Disneyworld ?
fuc off
Those who know the horse know when they're on and when they're off. They lit up the sky this night. Ran the power company out of electric!
This by far is the BEST version of this song and video ❤
2:35 Best guitar solo of the universe !
Davidas 00:1 to 8:06
The studio version does this song no justice. This does.
am 55 yrs old, and i grew up with neil young, john fogerty, bob dylan, and it's great that these rockers are still kicking ass. compared to the shit that out there today, a'll keep on listing, old stuff, and new stuff. these guys are great.

Great song. You can't compare neil young to anyone, he is one of the most unique artist out there.
This performance, this song, simply just blows me away. Neil & Crazy Horse are awesome.
There's moments when everything locks in just right on a performance, random to hit it so perfect, and they fucking nailed it here, glad it was filmed.....
The raw power and emotion of the horse. Rock on....
Neil, off the Hook, and tearing it up, like he always has
another brushstroke in a life long masterpiece.
3:09 Made me think about a western movie I watched over and over again and again playing his popular songs like this one "Going Home.
No matter what Neil writes , it comes from his heart . The words he sings are powerful, beautiful . He is a good man . They are hard to find these days . I like the way he attacks his guitar. We love you Neil 💗.
Esperemos edite en vinilo esta versión con tanta fuerza y emoción , mucho más que en la versión del disco Are you Passionate.
One of the most astounding live performances by anybody, anywhere, any time. Remarkably fortunate that this got captured for history. A relatively obscure newer song yet PERFECTLY conveys everything great about the Horse and him. Everything.
NEIL YOUNG ! NEIL YOUNG ! NEIL ! YOUNG ! NEIL ! YOUNG ! NEIL YOUNG !
Best Crazy Horse tune of this Century, Ralphs war drum beat really kicks ass
I was hoping this was a cover of Alvin Lee's "Goin Home, see my Baby".
When Neil and his Horse be cookin' , this be the kind of seriously perfect hot dish they be layin' down.
No-one plays a guitar and make it sound like Neill does. This is great but my all time fav. is Like a Hurricane - live 1986. The intensity is just awesome.
with major artists, the all time fav. changes with time. This one is my new all-time fav :-)
I have a few bands that I will love forever but I keep coming back to Like a H.... guess I always will ;-)
I'm sure you will :-) (and also to "motion picture" and "danger bird", certainly).
What is fine in the expression "from times to times" is that the amount of time can vary.
Lajk cura cane nil jang
Renata Hay Like a Hurricane is also my fave
Best of the best....Neil Young sings and plays with his whole heart. What a great song!
Unbelievable version of a unbelievable song. Neil is the man. I was lucky enough to see him in concert twice in the last six months. An experience to last a lifetime, and my 11 year old son got to see Neil for his first concert ever. Awesome
SO many thanks to you Neil Young! So many years to say THANK YOU!!!
how many years !!! late 60's till 2014 ! he is still rocking in his own free world ! and he gave us strenght to go on loving life / His 2 children were born handicaped ! imagine his life tests as a musician . Great man !
I love Neil and I did not know he got 2 handicaped children, how sad for this great man !

Neil Young is the king of rock and roll.
Fantastic performance. One of my all-time fave Neil Young and crazy horse songs…
Rock and Roll at its best, from the best!!
I was there at this concert. It was mindblowing. At that time "Going home" was a new song, I heard it for the very first time. Great show at Montreux! Before Crazy Horse hit the stage The Black Crowes played a few numbers.
... i was there too , but we didn't met , did we ?
{ ... i loved the change of accoustical- & electric parts ... }
A few years ago I created a playlist of Neil Young's rock songs (in to the black). I always listen to it with great pleasure. Great Uncle Neil thank you very much !!!

Larry Cragg Neil's guitar tech on piano and fist pounding. Smell The Horse On This One! 👍
I just LOVE that, thanks for posting
But don't ever spook the horse!
There might be guitarists with more technical chops, but few play with as much passion or creativity as Neil. Love live the godfather of grunge!
Neil & the Boys.. fully DIALED in !!
this is proof that it is not necessary to be a virtuoso musician and faster to convey intense emotion ... just feel it ... thanks neil
fantastic song...Neil The Man !!
This performance should be released on CD.

i've seen a lot of Neil's live video's and i can say that this one is in my top 10
Uncle Neil alone makes up for Céline Dion, Justin Bieber, Bryan Adams and any other calamities Canada has unleashed upon us.
LOL. Hell yeah.
Lots of great Canadians. Cowboy junkies, cohen, lanois
I love Neil Young but I don't consider Bryan Adams a calamity.
I agree!! Of course Neil is my favorite of all times. :)
Hilarious!
One of my favorite all time Neil Young songs right up there with OHIO! Neil, you absolutely rock!
Last message NASA ever got from the aliens simply decoded as..."send more Neil Young and Crazy Horse."
I always have to listen again. Best feel ever!
