Chris , those solder heat connectors are good.. Good if the wiring is dry and difficult to solder , make sure u heat the ends first, then the solder bit... .. good for joining awkward wires together,
We used sheet Armaflex for the rubber, about 18 or 20mm thick from memory . Try a commercial plumbing heating supplier. And obviously the relevant structural work. Worked great

Does the camper still need a tacho? I work on a lot of large motorhomes, some on 6 tonne chassis and none of them have tachos
It’s not a campervan on the log book yet. Just in case it never passes the change over we kept the tachometer up to date.
