I have a Carrier 06E hot gas bypass valve compressor, can I replace it with a suction cut off valve head and plate and use it?

Yes, HGBP unloading can be changed to SCOU by swapping out the head and valve plate.

I have a question about my compressor unloader. The cap on the side, that you say should be facing the electrical box, is leaking. I took the cap off and it has a set screw inside. I have a leak from there when I pressure test. Should I just get a new unloader or tighten this screw?
