    I always love the 2nd verse
    “yet we’re only as rich as the poorest of the poor,
    only as free as a padlock prison door,
    only as strong as our love for this land,
    only as tall as we stand”
    Its so inclusive

    Correction: Phil Ochs died in 1976, not 1965.

    Why was that verse removed? Like I get how it’s controversial but it should still be in the song.

      Phil explained that it didn’t fit in the song. The song is overall positive.
