I pulled this tutorial to get art D, which I thought was art A and vice versa, so I thought I was going to the lab. When I recognized the snake room I genuinely had a panic attack wondering where the snake was and not daring to move until I saw it. I never saw the snake so I just jumped down, took a left and found lotus by accident.
You’ll never know, so you would need to get artifact C before artifact A if you wanted to know where the snake is. The lotus is also near art A and can be accessed right after finding it by jumping down and heading kind of left.
